Please read through this manual carefully before using the
camera and follow the instructions to avoid damages caused by
improper operation.
1-1 Attention
The software CD-ROM included with this camera is for PC
use only. Please do not play this CD-ROM on a stereo or a
CD player.
The included camera is a precision electronic device. Do
not attempt to service this camera by yourself, as opening
or removing covers may expose you to dangerous voltage
points or other risks.
1-2 Before Using Your Digital Camera
Before taking pictures with this camera in any important
event (such as a wedding ceremony or an overseas trip),
please do test the camera to ensure that it functions
properly. Any additional loss caused by the malfunction of
this product (such as costs of photography or any loss of
benefit generated by the photography) is not the
responsibility of our company and no compensation will be
given for it.
Copyright information
Unless agreed by the right owner, all the pictures taken with
this digital camera cannot be used in violation of copyright
law. Moreover, when "No Photography" restriction is placed
on site, you cannot record any live performance,
improvisation or exhibits even for personal purpose. Any
transfer of pictures or memory card with data must be
conducted under the constraints of copyright law.
Special notes on the LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) monitor
1. If the liquid contacts the skin:
Please wipe the skin with a cloth and wash with water.
2. If the liquid gets in the eye:
Please immediately rinse with fresh water for at least 15
minutes, and then consult with a physician to receive
treatment as soon as possible.
3. If someone accidentally swallows the liquid:
Please rinse the mouth with water immediately, and consult
a physician to receive treatment as soon as possible.

1-3 Operation Caution
Avoid using or placing the camera in the following locations:
1. Damp and dusty places
2. Closed vehicles or places exposed to direct sunlight or
places subject to extremely high temperature or heat
3. Violently turbulent environment
4. Locations full of smoke, oil fumes or steam.
5. Locations subject to strong magnetic field
6. Raining or snowing environments
Do not open the battery cover when the power is on.
If water has entered the camera, immediately turn the camera’s
power off and remove the batteries.
How to maintain your camera:
1. If the lens or LCD monitor is dirty, please use lens brush or a
soft cloth to wipe clean. Do not touch the lens with you fingers.
2. Do not use any solid object to hit the camera.
3. Do not use any detergent or volatile solution to clean the
camera.

2-3 Minimum System Requirement
It is recommended that you use a computer system that exceeds
the minimum requirements in order to utilize the camera at its
optimum efficiency.

3-3 Power Supply
To power ON the StyleCam Extreme, slide the lens cover towards
the left, the camera will play a short tune to indicate that the power
is ON.
To power OFF the StyleCam Extreme, slide the lens cover
towards the right, the camera will play a closing tune to indicate
that the power is OFF.
Note: The StyleCam Extreme has an auto-power off feature,
which means the camera will automatically power off after
60 seconds of inactivity to conserve battery power.
You may press the Display button to restart the camera if
the power has been turned off.
The following features will be automatically saved even if
your camera has powered off automatically. To reset your
camera to the manufacturer’s default setting, you may
select "Reset Default" in the Setup mode. (Please refer
to “Setup Mode” under “Navigating Modes & Menus” on
page 15)

3-4 Shutter Button
The StyleCam Extreme is designed for two-step shutter
function. You will see a [ ] icon appear on the center of the
LCD monitor when you press and hold the Shutter button
down half way to allow the camera to focus on the subject.
To take a picture, press the Shutter button all the way down
and the camera will beep once, release the Shutter button,
and the camera will beep again to indicate that the picture
has been taken.
NOTE: The camera finishes taking a picture AFTER the
second beep. Please do not move the camera until you hear
a second beep. Moving the camera will result in blurry
images.
3-5 Mode Selector
The following mode selections are available on the
StyleCam Extreme:
1. PC mode (Mass Storage & PC camera)
2. Capture mode (still images)
3. Playback mode
4. Movie Mode (video)
5. Setup mode
3-6 Menu/OK Button
You can perform different operations in the different modes by
using the Menu/OK button (e.g. scroll menu options or select
pictures, etc).

3-7 Flash Button
The Flash button will work in the Capture mode ONLY. Press the
Flash button continuously to select the desired flash mode.

3-8 Display Button
The Display button works in the Capture mode to bring up the
quick menu items in the Capture mode. Press this button to
scroll through the following options:
Standard display Full display Image only display LCD
monitor OFF Operation settings display only Standard
In addition, the Display button can also access the Playback
mode even when the camera’s power is switched to OFF. Please
note that this can ONLY be done in the Playback mode.
When your camera has been automatically powered OFF due to
auto-power off feature, you can press the Display button to
restore camera’s power and continue to take pictures or videos.
3-9 Macro Mode Switch
Use the Macro mode switch to select whether you want to
take a picture at close up range. Once you select the Macro
mode, the green LED located on the top of the LCD monitor
will lit.
Note: Even if the flash is set to auto, it will not fire when
camera is set to Macro mode, because you do not need the
flash to take a close up picture. A close-up shot with the flash
may result in extremely overexposed images.

5-1 Attaching the Wrist Strap
Insert the thin end of strap into the strap holder.
.
Pass the other end of strap through the loop.
Stretch the strap tightly.
5-2 Inserting the Batteries
First turn the camera’s power to OFF.
Open the battery compartment door by sliding the battery cover
in the direction indicated by the arrow.
Note the battery polarity on the inside of the cover.
Insert two new AA alkaline batteries or fresh rechargeable
batteries into the battery compartment.

Close and lock the battery cover.
NOTE:
Please open the battery compartment cover carefully in order not
to damage it.
If the battery power indicator shows only one block that
means the power is low, you can continue to use the flash.
When the battery indicator turns red, you cannot take still
images or video. Please change batteries at this time.
Any pre-settings will be saved in camera's memory for
about 3 minutes while replacing the batteries. Please
double check your settings before taking more pictures.
5-3 Inserting & Removing the Memory Card
Please turn the camera’s power to OFF before inserting or
removing the memory card.
To insert a memory card
Open the battery compartment door by sliding the cover in the
direction of the arrow.
Insert a Secure Digital or a MultiMedia memory card in the
direction of the arrow.

To remove the memory card
Press the memory card down gently.
The memory card will bounce upward.
Pull the memory card out with your fingers.
NOTE:
Before using the camera, please remember to insert the memory
card into the slot. If the memory card is full or there are already
images stored on it, you can turn the Mode Selector to Setup
Mode and then select “Format” to format the memory card. Please
make sure you have downloaded the images and videos to your
computer before formatting your memory card.
A 16MB flash memory is built into the StyleCam Extreme. If
there is a memory card inserted, it will be used to save images
and videos.
If you want to store data on the internal memory, please remove
the memory card first.
The specification of memory card applicable to this
camera is Secure Digital or MultiMedia card
(2/8/16/32/64/128MB).
If the memory card is inserted in the wrong direction, the
card will not fit into the slot. Please pull it out and try a
different direction and DO NOT force the card to fit into
the slot.

5-4 Language Setup
Before using the camera, please turn the Mode Selector to
Setup mode, scroll to the right to “system”, and then select
"Language" to set the desired OSD language. There are six
languages you can choose from: English, Chinese, French,
German, Italian, Japanese, and Spanish.
5-5 Date/Time Setup
To set the date/time on your StyleCam Extreme, please
turn the Mode Selector to Setup mode. Select “Date/Time",
and set the correct date and time.

6-1 Setup Mode
The Setup mode allows you to set the basic configuration of
the StyleCam Extreme. These configurations include image
resolution, image quality, self-timer, white balance, exposure
value, OSD language, format media card, date/time display,
light frequency, TV output, and restore default settings. To
setup these items please follow the instructions below:
1. Turn the Mode Selector to Setup mode .
2. Power ON the camera by sliding the lens cover to the left.
The red LED will blink and the LCD monitor will display
the setting screen.
3. Press the up and down arrow buttons / to scroll
the main menu.
4. Press the right arrow button to enter the sub-menu
items.
5. Press the left arrow button to return the previous main
menu.
6. Press Menu/OK button to exit any operation.
Please follow the flow charts below to setup the StyleCam
Extreme to your desired configuration.

6-2 Capture Mode
The Capture mode allows you to take still pictures. Please follow
the instructions below:
1. Turn the Mode selector to Capture mode .
2. Power ON the camera by sliding the lens cover to the left.
The red LED will blink and the LCD monitor will display the
object that you want to frame.
3. To take a picture, frame your subject with the LCD monitor.
Press and hold the Shutter button half way down to focus on
the subject. At this point, the camera will start metering for
light and a [ ] icon will appear in the center of the screen.
Press the Shutter button fully down until you hear a single
beep. Then release the Shutter button and wait for another
beep. The second beep confirms that the picture has been
taken.
Note: The StyleCam Extreme will complete taking a picture

after the second beep. Please do not move the camera until you
hear the second beep after you release the Shutter button.
Moving the camera may result in blurry images.
4. You may also use the Flash button to set the desired flash
mode: Auto, red-eye reduction and flash off.
5. Press the Display button to choose your desired LCD display.
(Please refer to “Display Button” on page 10 for more
information)
6. Use the Menu/OK button to quickly access the Capture
mode menu and choose your desired Capture mode settings.
(E.g. image resolution, image quality, self-timer, and light
frequency settings.) To confirm a selection, press the
Menu/OK button.
7. To zoom in or zoom out on a subject, press the up and down
arrow buttons / . Once you press one of the zoom button,
the digital zoom level on the left side of the LCD monitor will
appear.
8. To take a picture close-up you can use the Macro mode.
Slide the Macro switch down (located on the right side of the
camera). When the Macro mode is selected, the macro LED
located on the top of the LCD monitor will light.

6-3 Movie Mode
The Movie mode allows you to record digital video with the
StyleCam Extreme. Please note that the video will be silent as
there is no microphone equipped on this camera. Please follow
the instructions below to record digital video:
1. Turn the Mode Selector to Movie mode .
2. Power ON the camera by sliding the lens cover to the left. The
red LED will blink and the LCD monitor will display the subject
that you’re framing.
3. Hold the camera steadily and frame your subject through the
LCD monitor. Press the Shutter button ONCE to begin to
record your video. Note: You do not need to hold down on the
button to keep recording.
4. The LCD monitor will show the elapsed time (in seconds)
while you are recording a video.
5. To stop recording, press the Shutter button again.
Note: The maximum length of individual video depends on the
available memory left on the memory card or the internal
memory.

6-4 Playback Mode
The Playback mode allows you to review the pictures and
videos you took on the LCD monitor. Please follow the
instructions below to playback your images and videos:
1. Turn the Mode Selector to Playback mode .
2. Power ON the camera by sliding the lens cover to the left.
The red LED will blink and the LCD monitor will display
the last image or video you took.
3. Press the up and down arrow buttons / to review
the previous image.
4. Press the Menu/OK button to enter the Playback mode
menu.
5. The Playback mode menu consists of the following
options: Delete One, Delete All, Auto Play and Exit.
6. Press the left arrow button to exit the menus.
(1) Image counter – the number of pictures taken
(2) Battery power indicator
You may select the following operations using the Menu/OK
button in the Playback mode. Please use the Menu/OK button
and the Navigation buttons to follow the directions and links by
the arrows.

3. DPOF
Digital Print Order Format setting allows you to select
the number of copies you want to print, the time/date
stamped on the prints, and any other options there
may be for printing.
Please follow the flow chart on the right to configure
your DPOF setting.
There are three options under DPOF: print one image,
print all images, and print time/date stamp.
You can only use the DPOF when you have images
saved on a memory card. The DPOF feature does not
work for images saved on the 16MB built-in memory.

6-5 PC-Connection Mode
The PC-Connection mode allows you to download the
images to your computer or use the StyleCam Extreme as
a PC camera.
Downloading Images Using Mass Storage
1. Turn the Mode Selector to PC, and power ON the
camera by sliding the lens cover to the left.
2. The LCD monitor will display two options: Mass Storage
and PC Camera.
3. Select Mass Storage and press Menu/OK button.
4. A USB icon will blink in the LCD monitor. At this point you
should connect the StyleCam Extreme to your computer
with the supplied USB cable. Please refer to “Getting
Connected” and “Downloading Images” in Section 8 for
more information on how to connect the camera to your
computer and downloading images.
Using the StyleCam Extreme as a PC Camera
You can use the StyleCam Extreme as a PC camera with the
included ArcSoft VideoImpression software. Please follow the
instructions below to use the PC camera feature.
1. Turn the Mode Selector to PC mode.
Power ON the camera by sliding the lens cover/power switch to
the left.
2. The LCD will display Mass Storage and PC Camera, select
PC Camera and press the MENU/OK button.

3. A USB icon will appear on the LCD and begin to blink. At this time,
connect the smaller end of the USB connector to your StyleCam
Extreme camera, and connect the larger end of the USB connector
to the USB port on your PC.
4. Launch ArcSoft VideoImpression by clicking Start Programs
ArcSoft ArcSoft VideoImpression 1.6
5. Click on “New” and then “Capture” to record live video.

Video Conferencing with Instant Messaging Applications
The StyleCam Extreme is compatible with popular instant
messaging programs such as MSN Messenger, Microsoft
NetMeeting and Yahoo! Instant Messenger. Please follow
the instructions below to use video conferencing feature.
1. Turn the Mode Selector to PC mode.
2. Power ON the camera by sliding the lens cover/power switch to
the left.
3. The LCD will display Mass Storage and PC Camera, select
PC Camera and press the MENU/OK button.
4. A USB icon will appear on the LCD and begin to blink. At
this time, connect the smaller end of the USB connector to
your StyleCam Extreme camera, and connect the larger end of
the USB connector to the USB port on your PC.
5. Launch your preferred instant messaging program and
begin video conferencing.

6-6 TV Output Mode
The TV Output feature allows you to view images and video
on a TV set. Please follow the instructions below:
1. Select the correct video type (US is NTSC, EU/Asia is
PAL) for the connected device before transferring images.
Turn the Mode Selector to Setup mode and scroll to “TV
standard”. Use the arrow buttons to select “NTSC” or
“PAL”.
2. Use a video cable to connect the camera and TV.
3. Once you power on the camera and the TV set, the
images should now appear on the TV. No images will be
shown on the camera’s LCD monitor.
4. You run the images using the “Auto Play” feature and view
a slideshow of your pictures on TV.

7-1 Installing the Mass Storage Driver
To download the images to your computer, you need to install the
Mass Storage driver first. The included software CD contains
StyleCam Extreme Mass Storage Driver, ArcSoft
PhotoImpression and VideoImpression, Adobe Acrobat Reader,
and this Owner’s Manual. Please follow the instructions below to
install the driver and the included software.
1. Insert the software CD-ROM supplied with the package into
the CD-ROM drive.
2. The CD should auto-run and the following welcome screen will
appear. Note: If your CD-ROM drive does not support auto-run
function, please go to “My Computer” icon on the desktop,
double click the CD-ROM drive icon and click the
“InstallMgr.exe” file in the root directory.
3. Click the first option “Install StyleCam Extreme Driver” on the
Installer Menu shown on the left. The following screen will
appear:

4. Click “Next” to continue the installation the mass storage
driver. Once you finished installing the driver, the following
screen will appear and prompt you to reboot your computer.
Select “Yes, I want to restart my computer now” and click
“Finish”.
Note: Please save and close all running programs before
rebooting the computer.
7-2 Installing ArcSoft Applications
ArcSoft PhotoImpression and VideoImpression are photo
and video editing software that allows you to retouch,
enhance, add special effects, and organize your pictures
and videos. Please follow the instructions below to install the
included software applications.
ArcSoft PhotoImpression 3.0
1. Insert the software CD-ROM supplied with the package into
the CD-ROM drive.
2. The CD should auto-run and the following welcome screen
will appear. Note: If your CD-ROM drive does not support
auto-run function, please go to “My Computer” icon on the
desktop, double click the CD-ROM drive icon and click the
“InstallMgr.exe” file in the root directory.
3. Click on “Install ArcSoft PhotoImpression” to install this
application on your computer. The following screen will
appear:

4. Select the desired language for installation, and click “OK” to
continue.
5. The welcome screen will appear, click “Next” to continue.
6. Click “Yes” to accept the ArcSoft License Agreement to
continue the installation of this application.
7. On the following screen, click “Next” to accept the
designated location for this application. If you do not want to
install the software on your local hard drive, please click on
“Browse” and select your desired location.

8. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the
installation of ArcSoft PhotoImpression.
9. When prompted by the computer to reboot your system
after the installation of PhotoImpression, click “No, I will
restart my computer later” and continue to install ArcSoft
VideoImpression before you reboot the system.

1. Insert the software CD-ROM supplied with the package into
the CD-ROM drive.
2. The CD should auto-run and the following welcome screen
will appear. Note: If your CD-ROM drive does not support
auto-run function, please go to “My Computer” icon on the
desktop, double click the CD-ROM drive icon and click the
“InstallMgr.exe” file in the root directory.
3. Click on “Install ArcSoft VideoImpression” to install this
application on your computer. The following screen will
appear:

5. Click “Yes” to accept the ArcSoft License Agreement to
continue the installation of this application.
6. On the following screen, click “Next” to accept the

install the software on your local hard drive, please click on
“Browse” and select your desired location.
8. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the
installation of ArcSoft VideoImpression.
9. When prompted by the computer to reboot your system
after the installation of VideoImpression, click “Yes, I want to
restart my computer now” and “Finish”. Note: Please save
and close all running applications before rebooting your
computer.

8-1 Downloading Images & Videos
You can download the images and videos from the
StyleCam Extreme to your computer using the supplied USB
cable and the software. Note: You must install the Mass
Storage driver before downloading the images and videos.
Please follow the instructions below to download your
images and videos.
For Windows 98se/Me/2000 users:
1. Connect the StyleCam Extreme to your computer using
the included USB cable. (Refer to “PC-Connection on page
22.)
2. Go to My Computer and double click to open it. You will
see Removable Disk (D:\) or the next available alphabet for
the removable disk. Click on this icon to open it. Inside this
driver there is a folder labeled “DCIM” double-click to open
this folder, and then double-click to open the next folder
“100FSCAM”. Your pictures and videos should be displayed
under this folder.
3. Your pictures and video will be saved under this folder.
4. To download your pictures and videos, select the files you
want and use drag-and-drop function. Or, you could
right-click on the files, select “Copy” from the sub-menu that
will appear once you right-click, and then “Paste” it into a
desired location.
For Windows XP users:
1. Connect the StyleCam Extreme to your computer using the
included USB cable.
2. Windows Wizard will pop up on your screen. Windows
Wizard allows you to open the files immediately for viewing,
play a slideshow of the pictures you have taken, play the
videos in Windows Media Player, save the files to your local
hard drive, or take no action.
3. Please select the function you want to download the images
and videos to your local hard disk.
4. Once the files are downloaded to you computer, the images
will appear in thumbnails and the videos will appear in video
icons.

hardware product against defects in material and
workmanship for a period of one year from the original date
of purchase as identified on the proof of purchase (your
receipt). It is the end-user’s responsibility to make certain

computer system within the one-year warranty period.
These are the sole remedies and SiPix’s sole liabilities for
performance or failure to perform of the product. SiPix
reserves the right to change its warranty policy at any time
for all products distributed after the date of such change in
warranty. Except as set forth above, all other warranties
whether express or implied, including but not limited to, the
implied warranties of merchantability and fitness for a
particular purpose are hereby excluded.
SiPix shall not be liable for incidental, special or
consequential damages arising out of or related to the use
or performance of the product, including, without limitation,
loss of data or use of data processing facilities or equipment,
regardless of whether SiPix may have been advised about
the possibility of such damages arising out of use of the
product shall be limited to the amounts paid by purchaser for
such product.
This warranty is only valid within the boundaries and
territories of the USA and Canada. SiPix is not responsible
for costs incurred due to shipping, insurance, customs, or
duties. SiPix is not responsible for non-traceable packages or
packages shipped without a valid RMA number on the outside of
the package.
This warranty does not apply if the product has been
damaged by an accident, electrical fault, through misuse or
abuse. If the product has been altered without written
authorization from SiPix, the warranty will be void.
This warranty applies only to hardware products manufactured
by or for SiPix. Warranted products must bear the “SiPix
brand name, trade name, or logo. The aforementioned
warranty and remedies are exclusive, and in lieu of all others,
whether oral, written, expressed or implied. SiPix specifically
disclaims any and all implied warranties of merchantability and
fitness for a particular purpose.
SiPix is not responsible for incidental or consequential
damages resulting from any breach of warranty. SiPix is not
responsible under any other legal theory, including, but not
limited to lost profits, and any cost of recovering
reprogramming or reproducing any program or data stored in
or used with SiPix products.
One Year Limited Warranty – US & Canada

If your SiPix product needs to be returned for repair, you
must contact SiPix technical support prior to shipment for an
RMA number before sending in the product. The RMA
number is a Return Merchandise Authorization number.
SiPix will refuse all shipments without a proper RMA
number. The RMA number MUST be printed on the outside
of the original shipping carton in large print written in black
ink next to the shipping label. Failure to properly pack
shipment could cause serious damage to the product and
void the warranty.
Should any defect(s) be discovered, the product may be
returned to SiPix with a valid RMA number. If you are
returning product for repair, please be sure to do the
following:
1. Call SiPix Customer Support Mon-Fri during regular
business hours at 510.651.9199 and obtain an RMA (Return
Merchandise Authorization) number.
2. Print your RMA number on the OUTSIDE of the original
shipping carton in large print written in black ink next to the
shipping label.
3. Include a copy of the bill of sale with the returned product.
4. Unless otherwise instructed, do not return any manuals or
software when returning items for repair.
5. Ship to SiPix via a traceable shipping method and retain the
tracking number.
Note: This product is intended for use only within the
boundaries and territories of the United States and Canada. If
you purchased this product in Mexico or South America and
need assistance or repair, you must contact your originating
reseller for service and support. SiPix, Fremont CA, will not
accept any shipments from outside the boundaries and
territories of the USA and Canada. SiPix often bundles many
different third party software options with its products. If any
of these options were ordered with your SiPix product and they
appear to be missing or incorrect, contact your reseller
