Back up stills as PNG files from Event Master

Still sources captured from live inputs must be retrieved from the processor for use elsewhere.
Solution
There are several ways to retrieve the still images from Event Master processors.
How to back up all stills
Perform a system backup
Perform a system backup, either using the front panel and a USB flash drive or using the Web App.
To perform a system backup from the front panel…
1. Insert a FAT32-formatted flash drive in the unit’s front-panel USB port.
2. Select the USB Backup/Restore submenu from the System menu.
3. Select Backup Config from the USB Backup/Restore submenu.
4. Choose a file name.
Use the default name of the backup configuration, or use the ADJUST knob to change the name.
5. Scroll to Backup Config and press SEL.
Upon completion of the backup, the backup file will be in the USB drive EM/backup/sys folder.
For detailed instructions, see the “System menu > USB device (Backup/Restore)” section of the
“Event Master Devices User's Guide” (R5905948).
1. Select Web App > Tools > Backup & Restore from the Settings menu of the EMTS GUI.
2. Click on the Backup button.
3. Select a folder in which to save the backup file.
• E2 backups have the name “E2Backup.tar.gz.”
• S3 backups have the name “S3Backup.tar.gz.”
• EX backups have the name “EXBackup.tar.gz.”
• ImagePRO–4K backups have the name “ImagePRO-4KBackup.tar.gz.”

section of the “Event Master Devices User's Guide” (R5905948).

Open the backup tar.gz file
Use a third-party application such as 7-Zip File Manager, available for free at www.7-zip.org, to
open the backup.tar.gz file.
1. Open the backup tar.gz file and the PNG(s) for the stills will be in the folder.
The sample screenshot in Image 1-1 shows an S3 backup containing three stills. The stills are named still_0.png,
still_1.png and still_2.png.

How to back up a single still
Stills tab
The Stills tab, in the resources area of the Programming menu, shows all the stills in the system and associates
each still with a system register number.

Image 1-2: Stills tab
In Image 1-2, regardless of their assigned source numbers…
• “Logo” is the first still image in the list and occupies register 0.
• “Picture” is the second still image in the list and occupies register 1.
• “Nature” is the third still image in the list and occupies register 2.
To get the PNG file for a single still…
1. Open a web browser.
2. Use a URL that incorporates the IP address of the Event Master processor and the file name of the PNG file.
(In the following examples the IP address of the Event Master processor is 172.16.3.68.)
• To get “Logo” the filename is still_0.png, and the URL is http://172.16.3.68/uploads/still_0.png.
• To get “Picture” the filename is still_1.png, and the URL is http://172.16.3.68/uploads/still_1.png.
• To get “Nature” the filename is still_2.png, and the URL is http://172.16.3.68/uploads/still_2.png.
Once the still image is displayed in the browser window, you may save it just as you would save any other picture
that you would be able to download from a website.
