Thechargersregeneratepowerorrechargemobilebatteriesusedonboardvehiclesorboats.
Thechargercancontinuouslychargesupplybatteriesorstarterbatteries,enablingthe
batteriestomaintainatahighcapacitylevel.

Pleaseinquireyourbatterysupplieraboutthemaximumcapacitiesofyourleadacidbatteries.
Thechargerisequippedwithapolarityprotection;thispreventsthechargerfrombeing
damagedincaseofincorrectpolarity.
Atemperaturesensor(modelnumberTF500)thatisconnectedatthebatterybeingcharged
protectsthebatteryagainstdamagecausebyvaryingoutsidetemperaturebyadaptingthe
chargingvoltageofthetemperaturetothebattery.PleaseconnecttwoendsofTF500as
figure13oneendto“T.S.jackonrearpanelandanotherendtobattery.
Anoptionalremotecontrol(modelnumber900RC)canbeobtainedinordertoprovide
remoteaccesstothecharger.

temperatures,thechargingvoltageincreasesanddecreasesaccordingly.

TheremotecontrolcanswitchthechargerONandOFFaswellasbeusedforfunctionalcheck.
*Note:Attachtheremotecontrolatawellaccessibleplacetoensureeasyaccessofthe
IU0Uautomaticcharger.
*Caution:Becarefulwhenattachingtheremotecontrol,forwiringharnesses,cablesand
othercomponentsthatareintheassemblyrangecouldbedamagedintheprocess.
z Ensureapproximately1.97”width,2.17”heightand0.91”depthforthetakeupofthe
remotecontrol.
z ConnecttheremotecontroltotheIU0Uautomaticcharger.Theconnectioncableis
equippedwithtwoequivalentmodularplugs.
z Placetheremotecontrolintotheopeningcreated.Securetheremotecontrolwithscrews
ontheupperandbottommarginofthefaceplateusetheavailabledrills.

z Connectthe“(minus)batterypolewithaconnectingcablewiththe”“(minus)terminalat
theIU0Uautomaticcharger(seefigure9).
z Connectthe“+”(plus)batterypolewiththeconnectingcablewiththe“+”(plus)terminalat
theIU0Uautomaticcharger(seefigure9).
z LaythecablesfromthebatteriestotheIU0Uautomaticcharger.
z Foldthecableendswiththemulticorecableends.
z Forconnectionofstarterbatteries,pleaseconnecttheterminalasourdrawing
(seefigure11).
z Supplythecablewithaforkconnectionforanideaconnectionwiththeterminal(seefigure

Ensurecorrectpolarityofthebatteryandthebatterycharger,otherwisetheinternalflatpin
terminalwilltriggerwiththewrongpolarity.

forthestarterbattery.Theoutputvoltageisbetween13.2V(26.4V)and13.8V(27.6V)and
canrechargethestarterbatterywithacurrentof1Aorkeepitatahighcapacitylevel.
z Iphase:Inthefirststageofthechargingprocess,thedepletedbatteryischargedwitha
constantcurrentuntilthebatteryvoltagereaches13.8Vor27.6V.Whenthebatteryreaches
thisvoltagelevel,thechargingcurrentgraduallydrops.Whenthecurrentdropsdownto
80%,thechargerswitchesovertothehigherchargingvoltageof14.4V/14.8Vor28.8V/
29.6V.

z U0phase:Thismainchargingphaseislimitedamaximumof4/8hoursandthecurrent

voltageisbelow14.4V/14.8Vor28.8V/29.6V.Afterreachingthemaximumvoltage,it
remainsconstant.However,thecurrentdropsagain.Withinthismainchargingphase,which
islimitedto4/8 hours,thebatteryisfullycharged.
z Uphase:Ifthecurrentdecreasesto10%orundertheratedcurrentorifthetimelimitof4/
8hoursisexceeded,thenthechargerswitchesovertoeconomycharging(13.8Vor27.6V).
*Note:Batteriesmaybechargedseparatelyfromeachotherifthechargershavedouble
chargingorthreefoldchargingconnections.Theoutputsareseparatedinternallybydiodes,
thustheweakerbatteryisalwaysfirstsettothecharginglevelofthestrongerbattery.
*Attention:Themaximumbatterycapacityshouldnotexceedthespecifiedcapacity,
otherwisethefunctionsoftheindividualchargingphasescouldbeinfluenced.

z Ifpossible,measurewithasuitablemultimeterduringthechargingtoverifyifthevoltage
atthebatteryterminalsincreases.
z Determinewhethertheterminalsareconnectedproperlytothebatterypoles.Cleanthe
batterypolesifnecessarytoensurebetterconnection.

92Afterachargingtimeofapprox.20hours,thebatteryisstillnotfullycharged
z DisconnectthepowertotheIU0Uautomatic.
z Removethebatteryfromthechargingterminalsandwaitforafewminutes.
z Then,measurethevoltageatthebatteryterminalswiththemultimeter.

12Vbattery:Ifthemultimeterdisplaysavoltageof10Vorless,thisindicatesthatthebattery
isdefectiveandcannotbecharged.
