ARMING THE VSS
Press the button on the remote - direction indicators blink and single siren chirp (*) confirms the vehicle
security system is arming and the central door locking is locked. The LED will light constantly and after
10 seconds it will start to blink slowly.
ARMING WITH INTERIOR MOTION DETECTOR AND ADDITIONAL SENSOR DISABLED
If the VSS is armed with any person or animal in the vehicle, their movement will trigger the alarm.
To avoid such situation, the system can be armed without interior motion detector and additional sensors.
To do so, before arming the system - press and hold the PA button until the LED starts to blink rapidly. Exit the
vehicle, close all doors and press the button of the remote - two siren chirps confirm arming without
interior motion detector and additional sensor. Direction indicators blink confirms the vehicle security system
arming and the central door locking is closed. The LED will light constantly and after 10 seconds it will start
to blink slowly.
DISARMING AND OPENING THE CENTRAL DOOR LOCKING SYSTEM
Press the button of the remote - blink of the direction indicators and double siren chirp (*) confirms
disarming of VSS and unlocking central door locking system. The status LED will start blinking until any door
is opened and then will go off.
If the alarm was triggered during the driver’s absence, the VSS signalises it with three siren chirps.
IMPORTANT!
If after disarming neither doors nor trunk is opened within 30 seconds the system rearms automatically.

TRUNK RELEASE BUTTON LOGIC
In case of remote control with trunk release button its press will open the boot and turn off the
protection on trunk switch, interior motion detector and additional sensors. That state is confirmed by fast
blinking of the LED. Closing the boot brings the security system again into the set state.
IMPORTANT!
This feature is car dependent.
DOOR OPEN WARNING (WHEN ARMING)
If any doors, bonnet or trunk is not closed when arming, the VSS signalises it with three siren chirps. The system
will be armed, but the opened door / bonnet / trunk will not be monitored (will not trigger the alarm).
REARMING
After disarm, the LED will start blinking. If neither doors nor trunk were opened within the specified time, the
disarming would be treated as accidental and the VSS will rearm again, closing the central door locking
system. If any door or trunk were opened, the rearming countdown is cancelled and the LED goes off.
ALARMING / DISARMING THE VSS DURING THE ALARM
If the VSS is armed and any door, trunk or bonnet switch, additional sensor, ultrasonic motion detector
or ignition is triggered, the VSS starts a 30-second alarming cycle - blinking the direction indicator lights and
emitting sounds with electronic siren. From triggering of the alarm till disarming the system with remote the
LED blinks quickly, 2 times faster then in untriggered armed mode. After 30 seconds, the system stops the
alarm cycle. Further triggering of sensors starts another alarm cycle. Every input can cause up to 4 alarm
cycles and then it is blocked.
During alarm cycle, pressing button ends the alarm, but the vehicle remains locked and the VSS remains
armed. During alarm cycle, pressing button stops the alarm, disarms the VSS and opens the vehicle.

On a demand, the installer can enable the ignition safety door lock function of the VSS.
If enabled, then 8sec. after turning the ignition on (all doors closed) the central door lock will be locked (the
doors can not be opened from the outside). Switching the ignition off unlocks the central door locking system.
Pressing the or buttons on TYTAN remotes with the ignition on locks or unlocks the door locking system.
If the door locks are unlocked with the ignition on, then 8 seconds after opening and closing any passenger's
door the central door locks will be locked again.
If driver's door is opened when the ignition is switched on, the Ignition Safety Door Lock function will be
disabled, until the ignition is switched off and on again.
Switching the ignition off unlocks the central door locking system.
IGNITION SAFETY DOOR LOCK - Automatic central door locking during drive
On a demand, the passive arming (*) with or without automatic central door locking (*)can be enabled.
Passive arming function arms (switches on) the VSS automatically.
With the ignition off, opening and closing driver's door starts the timer of passive arming procedure.
it is signalled by a single siren chirp. 12sec. later, the alarm arms automatically, signalling it with LED, siren chirp
(*) and hazard lights. The central door locks remain unlocked driver can still get into the vehicle.
Passive arming can be stopped if the button is pressed in the 12sec. period after closing driver's door.
Cancel of passive arming is signalled by double siren chirp - passive arming will not occur.
If the automatic central door locking (*) is enabled, the door locking occurs 8sec. after passive arming of the
VSS and is signalled by single siren chirp.
PASSIVE ARMING (*) / AUTOMATIC CENTRAL DOOR LOCKING (*)
Press the button on Tytan remote with the ignition on to lock central door locking system. Press the
button on Tytan remote with the ignition on or switch the ignition off to unlock the central door locking
system. These operations are not signalled by hazard lights nor siren nor LED.
IMPORTANT! If the VSS is configured with the Ignition Safety Door Lock function, please check its description
in further part of this manual!
CENTRAL LOCKING / UNLOCKING DOORS WHEN DRIVE

tytan DS410 CAN has a procedure of emergency unsetting the security system in case the remote control is
inoperative or not available (not working or lost).
In order to unset the system with PIN code:
1. Open the door with the key (the alarm will sound).
2. Turn the ignition on.
3. Press the PA button number of times equal to the first digit of your PIN code (intervals between pressing
of PA button have to be less then 1 second).
4. Wait 2 seconds - the VSS confirms entering of PIN code digit via 1 second LED blink.
5. Repeat steps 3-4 for each of the remaining 3 digits of your PIN code.
If the PIN code is correct the alarm will disarm itself
The default PIN is 1111. The code can be individually programmed for a given car by installer during
installation procedure.
EMERGENCY DISARMING OF THE SECURITY SYSTEM

During that 8 seconds period between passive arming and automatic locking, press of the button locks
the vehicle (confirmed by single siren chirp); press of the button disarms the VSS, unlocks the vehicle and
cancel the passive arming.
The sequence of events (first passive arming with chirp, then automatic central door locking) prevents from
locking the keys inside vehicle.
On a demand (RF module with JOKER required) the anti-hijack function can be enabled. This function
prevents from stealing a car after an assault on driver. Anti-hijack function has to be authorised after every
open of driver’s door (even during drive). Without the authorisation the car will be stopped in a safe
procedure.
The LED blinks once every 2 seconds when the system is waiting for the authorisation.
The anti-hijack function can be authorised in two ways:
1. Press the PA button for approximately 1 second.
2. Use the remote Joker remote.
The authorisation of anti-hijack function is confirmed by single 2 seconds pulse on LED.
If the anti-hijack is not authorised and the ignition is switched on, the LED goes off and the VSS starts to wait for
the RF transmission from Joker remote.
ANTI-HIJACK FUNCTION
On a demand (RF module with JOKER required)the passive immobiliser function of VSS can be enabled. This
function does not permit to start the engine (even if theVSS is in disarmed state) 25 seconds after turning the
ignition off.
In order to start the engine the passive immobiliser has to be authorised in one of two ways:
1. Press the PA button for approximately 1 second.
2. Use the Joker remote (option).
If the engine has been immobilised the LED blinks 2 times per 2 seconds. If the immobiliser is authorised, the
LED goes off and the vehicle is ready to go.
The immobiliser feature cannot stop the car during drive and is a safe protection against unauthorised
copying or theft of OEM car keys.
IMMOBILISER
tytan DS410 CAN Vehicle Security System (VSS) is intended to use in all combustion engine cars, with 12V
supply system and negative ground. The tytan DS410 CAN security system must be installed according
to the manufacturer’s requirements and documentation.
It is suggested to install the security system only by an authorized person or company. The list of authorised
installers can be obtained from manufacturer or distributor of tytan DS410 CAN. It should be checked, if the
installation certificate, delivered with the system has been filled in by the installer.
The system is compatible with CAN bus traffic in most modern vehicles. However, the VSS central unit has to
be programmed for a given make and model of a car before installation in order to work properly. Default
setting is for the Volkswagen Golf V /Golf VI, Volkswagen Jetta, Volkswagen Passat B6, Volkswagen Touran,
Volkswagen Tiguan, Skoda Octavia II, Skoda Superb Seat Leon, Toledo, Volkswagen Golf VI and others.

If, during 45 seconds after turning the ignition on the VSS does not receive any information from the Joker
remote, the anti-hijack procedure goes as described below:
1. The sirens starts to play short double chirps. The interval between consecutive double chirps constantly
decreases as the anti-hijack process goes on. This state is signalised by with short blink of LED every
2 seconds.
2. If during next 45 seconds the anti hijack is not authorised, the vehicle will be stopped. The direction
indicators will start to blink, the siren will be turned on. The LED blinks as above.
3. After next 5 seconds the car can be started for 10 seconds to drive off the road.
4. After 30 seconds the siren goes off. However the car is still stopped, the direction indicators and LED blinks
until the anti-hijack is authorised.
If there is a need to leave the car with the engine running without
starting the anti-hijack procedure, the following sequence has to be completed:
1. Enter the car and close all doors.
2. Start the engine.
3. In 10 seconds from starting the engine, open driver’s door and press the PA button twice. The LED starts to
blink.
4. Get off the car and close the door, the anti-hijack function is temporarily disabled until next opening of
door - so after returning to the vehicle, the anti-hijack has to be authorised.
The installer must fulfil all the general requirements concerning safety at work during car service
procedures.
Before installing the vehicle security system the negative terminal of the battery must be disconnected.
If for some reasons disconnecting the battery is impossible, during the installation the cable loom must be
disconnected from VSS central unit.
All the connections must be isolated, the wires must be protected against abrasion to prevent any short
circuit the vehicles electronics.
The installed VSS central unit must not be exposed for contact with water, petrol, grease, oil, and other
chemical substances. It is suggested to place the central unit in a well hidden place inside the car, preferably
under the dashboard. The central unit should be attached with straps or screws to a flat surface.
The siren should be installed in engine chamber in a place, where it would be protected from extensive dirt
and direct flow of water.

The VSS can detect ignition switch state via two methods:
1. CAN-bus ignition switch state detection - reads the switch status via CAN
This method is very convenient as it does not require finding the ignition circuit in the car.
2. Additional analogue detection of ignition switch state (connect the orange wire to ignition circuit). This
increases the protection against e.g. CAN-bus tamper.
IMPORTANT!
For some vehicles, the DS410 VSS uses the orange wire to monitor the additional analogue status signals.
Check the installation diagram for particular vehicle. In these vehicles the orange wire CANNOT be
connected to ignition circuit. It MUST be connected according to installation diagram.
IGNITION SWITCH STATE DETECTION METHODS
The already mentioned ignition input (orange wire)and pager (horn) relay (brown wire) output are two-
functional. For some cars the orange wire becomes an input of additional +12V signals from car (e.g. trunk
release actuator input) whereas the brown wire becomes an input of additional GND signal (e.g. door lock
switch status signal).
Always check the installation diagram for particular car!
DUAL FUNCTION LINES
CAN bus control
In some cars, the DS410 can control the vehicle electric systems via CAN bus - it can blink the direction
indicators, roll-up windows and open/close central door locking system (with Tytan remote) via CAN bus.
In case of CAN bus control, the analogue wires concerning these functions do not need to be connected
to the vehicle.
Digital Siren
The system can work with a dedicated battery back-up siren with a digital link. Such siren alarms when
a power supply is taken off when the system is armed and does not react on power-off when the system is
disarmed. The main advantage of such siren is lack of a key-switch, allowing to install it in a well hidden place.
Speaker horn (siren without internal electronics)
The DS410 can work with a simple siren with no internal electronics (no modulation circuit). Such a siren
is simply an electrodynamic speaker, often named speaker horn.
OEM alarm detection
If the car is equipped with the OEM security system, the start of the OEM alarm cycle can trigger the alarming
in Tytan DS410 VSS. That feature allows the DS410 to protect the car using the OEM motion detector and OEM
towing detector.
IMPORTANT: In case the OEM motion detector is ultrasonic (e.g. VW Passat, Seat Ibiza) it can interfere with
DS410 ultrasonic motion detector (false alarms). In such case, do not connect ultrasonic remote and
receiver to DS410 and enable OEM alarm detection.
Window roll-up
The DS410 can roll-up the OEM power windows after VSS arming. Setting the roll-up time and enabling CAN
bus control allows to roll-up windows via CAN in some cars (e.g. VW/Audi/Seat/Skoda, Mercedes, Mitsubishi
vehicles).
If the additional RF / analogue output module is installed, the roll-up time sets the pulse length on central door
locking negative control output of the module.
Analogue central door lock control module
The module has two dedicated low-current negative control outputs. They allow to lock/unlock vehicle
central door locking system and/or roll-up windows by analogue signals.

Ignore CAN-bus ignition signal
1 – no (default) - system uses CAN-bus ignition and ACC signals,
2 – ignore ACC - system ignores ACC CAN-bus signal,
3 – ignore ACC and IGN - system ignores ACC and ignition CAN-bus signals.
RF module
(arming / disarming and central door lock control via Tytan remotes)
The DS410 can be armed/disarmed by the Tytan remotes if the additional RF (radio receiver) module
is connected to the rear connector of 2nd additional sensor. The RF module has two dedicated low-current
negative control outputs. They allow to lock/unlock vehicle central door locking system and/or roll-up
windows by analogue signals.

The central unit is programmed via a dedicated PC software and a USB cable. The software can:
select the car make and model,
set the sensitivity of ultrasonic motion sensor,
enable car control by CAN (VSS sends CAN frames which control hazard lights window roll-up and central
door locking on certain cars,
enable OEM alarm detection,
configure the VSS to work with keyless digital siren,
programm the emergency disarming PIN code for the VSS,
read the reason of 5 previous alarms,
VSS central unit firmware update (in case there is a upgrade available),
set the ignition safety door lock,
set the passive arming / automatic central door locking ,
The central unit has to be connected with a PC via mini USB cable. When the unit is connected for the first
time, the USB device drivers will be automatically installed. The system will ask where the drivers are located
on disc. The software is easy and intuitive to operate. It realises the operations described above.

VEHICLE SECURITY SYSTEM (VSS) SERVICE MODE
(reading the reason of alarms, testing CAN and analogue system inputs, testing and setting sensitivity of
ultrasonic motion detector, programming and testing Tytan remotes)
The VSS has a dedicated service mode which has 5 stages: (1) reading and erasing the memory of 5 previous
alarm cycles, (2) testing door, trunk and bonnet switches , (3) testing 2 additional sensor inputs, (4) testing and
setting sensitivity of ultrasonic motion detector, (5) programming and testing of Tytan remotes.
In order to enter the service mode
1. Switch off the ignition.
2. Switch on the ignition.
3. Press and hold the PA button.
4. After aprox. 10 seconds, the siren will chirp 1x. Release the PA button. The system is in the service code,
stage 1 – reading the memory of 5 alarm cycles.
In order to leave the service mode switch off the ignition.
Stage I – reading the memory of 5 previous alarm cycles
The VSS signals sequentially the reason of 5 previous alarm cycles by blinking the LED
The reason of the last alarm cycle is additionally signalled by a single siren chirp.
The number of LED blinks informs about the input which have caused the alarm:
1x – left front door switch (signal read from CAN-bus),
2x – other doors switches (signals read from CAN-bus),
3x – OEM bonnet switch (signal read from CAN-bus),
4x – additional bonnet switch (analogue connection),
5x – trunk switch (signal read from CAN-bus),
6x – internal ultrasonic motion detector,
7x – additional sensor 1 (socket in the front of VSS),
8x – additional sensor 2 (socket in the rear of VSS),
9x – ignition switch,
10x – oem alarm,
11x – trigger from positive input (orange wire, Opel Meriva).
In order to go to stage II, press and hold the PA button (aprox. 3 seconds) until siren chirps 2x.

Stage II – testing door, trunk and bonnet switches (LED periodically blinks 2x)
Triggering any of these inputs (e.g. opening of door) is signalled by single chirp of siren.
If there is only one input triggered, release of that input (e.g. closing the door) is not signalled.
If more then one input is triggered (e.g door and trunk ), releasing that input (e.g closing door) is also
signalled by single siren chirp.
in order to go to stage III, press and hold the PA button (aprox. 3 seconds) until siren chirps 3x.
Stage III – testing additional sensor (LED blinks 3x)
Triggering additional sensors (e.g. shock sensor) connected to front and rear sensor sockets is signalled
by single chirp of siren.
If there is only one input triggered, release of that input is not signalled.
If more then one input is triggered releasing that input is also signalled by single siren chirp.
In order to go to stage III, press and hold the PA button (aprox. 3 seconds) until siren chirps 4x.
Stage IV – setting sensitivity and testing of internal ultrasonic motion detector
Detection of movement inside car is signalled by series of short siren chirps.
The LED displays the current setting of sensitivity as a number of blinks (1-8).
Short press of PA changes the sensitivity of internal ultrasonic motion detector (8 levels) in a sequence
(1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8 -1-2-3-4...).
After setting / testing ultrasonic motion detector, the service mode should be left by switching off the ignition,
if the user did not want to erase / program / test Tytan remotes nor the RF module was not installed.
Otherwise, press and hold the PA button for 3 seconds until siren chirps / LED blinks 5 times
Stage V - testing and/or erasing/programming new remotes
5.1. After releasing PA button, the LED lights up for 8 seconds.
Wait 8 seconds the programming is skipped. Transmitters are not erased from memory and the
VSS enters the transmitter testing mode (5.3).
Press the PA 5 times when the LED is lit - the previously stored remotes are erased from memory - the VSS
enters the remote programming mode.

5.2. Programming new remotes and Jokers (Jokers must be turned OFF)
The LED lights up for 5 seconds
a. Press any button of the 1st remote --> the LED turns off. Remote No. 1 is programmed!!!
or b. Short press the button PA --> The LED turns off instantly. Remote no. 1 is not programmed!!!
The LED lights up for 5 seconds
a. Press any button of the 2nd remote --> the LED turns off. Remote No. 2 is programmed!!!
or b. Short press the button PA --> The LED turns off instantly. Remote No. 2 is not programmed!!!
The LED lights up for 5 seconds
a. Press the button of the 1st Joker --> the LED turns off. Joker No. 1 is programmed!!!
or b. Short press the button PA --> The LED turns off instantly. Joker no. 1 is not programmed!!!
The LED lights up for 5 seconds
a. Press the button of the 2nd Joker --> the LED turns off. Joker No. 2 is programmed!!!
or b. Short press the button PA --> The LED turns off instantly. Joker No. 2 is not programmed!!!
If the programming was OK, the VSS would enter transmitter testing mode.
Otherwise, the siren chirps/LED blinks 3 times and the programming is repeated (5.2). Switching off the ignition
exits the programming mode.
5.3. Transmitter testing mode
Single siren chirp and single LED blink confirms entering the transmitter testing mode.
As long as the ignition is switched on, pressing any button on any programmed remote is signalled by 2 LED
blinks and 2 siren chirps.
Press the PA button 3 times to repeat programming new remotes (5.2)
Switching off the ignition exits the transmitter testing mode and the service mode.
