V-Piano Evolution System Program
This system program updates the V-Piano to the latest version.
If you want to use V-Piano Editor with V-Piano Evolution, you’ll need V-Piano Editor version 1.10 or later.
Please be sure to read the following explanation to ensure that the update is performed correctly.
Never attempt to use this system program for the V-Piano Grand (GP-7). Doing so may damage the data or system of the V-Piano
Grand (GP-7).
Changes
Four preset tones and demo songs have been added (p. 5).
Before you update
Connections
Disconnect all connections other than the power cord before you execute the update.
Check the current version
While holding down the [EQUALIZER] button, turn on the power and wait approximately 20 seconds.
* If the following screen appears, the update is not necessary.
Items required for the update
• The V-Piano itself
• A computer that can use USB memory (Windows or Macintosh)
• USB memory (at least 150 MB of free space is required)
* We recommend that you use Roland M-UF1G/M-UF2G (sold separately) as USB memory.
Check the system program
Make sure that the decompressed folder contains the following folders and files.
• R011_VPIANO_UI (folder)
• ReadMeE.pdf (this file)
• ReadMeJ.pdf
• VpnData0.bin
• VpnPrga0.bin
• VpnPrga1.bin
• VpnPrgb0.bin
• VpnPrgb1.bin
Back up the setup file and songs
Before you carry out the update, we recommend that you back up your setup file and songs.
Save your data to USB memory as described in “Saving a setup file” and “Saving a song” in the owner’s manual.
For details on restoring a saved setup file back into the V-Piano, refer to “Loading a setup file” in the owner’s manual.
For details on restoring a saved song back into the V-Piano, refer to “Copying a song” in the owner’s manual.
Caution when updating
• If the power is accidentally turned off while the update is being performed, switch off the V-Piano’s power, and then perform the
update once again from the beginning.
• If you are unable to perform the update, it may be that the update files were not correctly copied to USB memory. Please copy the
update files once again, and try the update again.
If you are still unable to perform the update, or if the V-Piano will not start up normally, service will be required. Please contact
Roland service.
• If you are unable to obtain or download the system program, you can ask Roland to perform the update. A fee will be charged for
this. Please contact your dealer or a Roland service.
• Please be aware that we are unable to answer questions related to the installation procedure for this system program. Please
perform the update on your own responsibility, following the instructions given here.

V-Piano Evolution System Program
Updating
Never turn off the V-Piano’s power while the update is being executed. Doing so may render the V-Piano’s system unable to start
up correctly.
1. Using your computer, copy the system program folder and files to the root folder (the top level) of your USB
memory. You must be sure to copy all of the files.
Make sure that the root folder of the USB memory contains the following folder and files.
• R011_VPIANO_UI (folder)
• ReadMeE.pdf
• ReadMeJ.pdf
• VpnData0.bin
• VpnPrga0.bin
• VpnPrga1.bin
• VpnPrgb0.bin
• VpnPrgb1.bin
2. Disconnect the USB memory from your computer.
* Be sure to follow the correct disconnection procedure as directed by the documentation for your computer and USB memory.
3. Make sure that the V-Piano’s power is turned off, and then connect the USB memory to the V-Piano’s front USB
memory connector.
4. While holding down the [EXIT] and [WRITE] buttons, turn on the power.
5. When the display indicates “Loading...,” release the buttons.
The update will begin. The update will require approximately two minutes.
6. When the display indicates “Completed,” remove the USB memory and turn off the power.

7. Make sure that the V-Piano’s power is turned off, and then connect the USB memory to the USB FOR UPDATE
connector on the V-Piano’s rear panel.
8. While holding down the [V-LINK], [TRANSPOSE], and [TONE 1] buttons, turn on the power.
9. When the display indicates “Updating 0/100,” release the buttons.
The update will begin. The update will require approximately 13 minutes.
10. When the display indicates “Completed. 100/100,” wait approximately 30 seconds and then remove the USB
memory.
11. Switch off the V-Piano’s power.
This completes the update process.

Checking after the update
Here’s how to verify that the update occurred correctly.
1. While holding down the [EQUALIZER] button, turn on the power.
2. When the display indicates “Please wait...,” release the [EQUALIZER] button.
In approximately 20 seconds, the following screen will appear.
Continue waiting for approximately three minutes longer. If “OK” appears in the lower right of the display, the update was successful.
Turn the power off, then on again, and enjoy playing the V-Piano!
* If “OK” does not appear in the lower right of the display, the update did not occur correctly. Perform the procedure again starting from
step 1 of “Updating.”
If you are unable to perform the update, it may be that the update files were not copied correctly to USB memory. Copy the update files
once again, and then perform the update.
If you are still unable to perform the update, or if the V-Piano will not start up normally, service will be required. Please contact Roland
service.

List of Preset Tones
Four new preset tones (No. 025–028) have been added with V-Piano Evolution. A carefully selected collection of piano sounds, from
uprights to pianos with unique sounding boards, is now at your fingertips. As with the previous preset tones, the piano voicing
parameters (which are a unique feature of the V-Piano) can be used to create custom piano sounds.
About the Demo Songs
New demo songs designed to showcase the potential of the new preset tones have been added with V-Piano Evolution.
To select from the added demo songs, press the [Evolution] button while in the V-PIANO DEMO screen.

018 Silver Dynamic Vanguard A piano that delivers a wide range of tonal variation between softly played and strongly played notes.
019 Silver Extreme Vanguard A piano with emphasized metallic resonance.
020 All Silver 2 Vanguard
A piano that’s triple-strung all the way through the bass notes, with silver winding all the way through
