Install and adjust Spring How to install
Warning!
It is advisable to have an Öhlins dealer install the
shock absorber.
When installing, read the Vehicle Service Manual.

Raise the rear end of the vehicle so that the
original shock absorbers are in a neutral
position.
Warning!
Make sure the vehicle is securely supported so
that it will not tip.

Remove the original shock absorbers.

Install the Öhlins shock absorbers. Fasten the
upper attachment rst. The reservoirs should
be pointing towards the rear.
Caution!
In some models, the reservoir may come too
close to the frame after installing. Use the sleeve
to protect the reservoir.

Fasten the lower attachment. Raise or lower
the wheels slightly to make the attachment t.

Tighten the attachment screws to the correct
torque. Consult your Vehicle Owners manual.
Caution!
Make sure that all screws are tightened to the
correct torque and that nothing fouls or restricts
movement of the shock absorber when the
suspension is fully compressed or extended.

Measure the free length of the spring (A).

Loosen the spring platform locknut using C-
spanner 00710-01 so that you can move the
spring platform as far up as needed to install
the spring.

Put the shock absorber up-side-down in a
vice so that you can install the spring and the
spring clip.
Note!
The spring platform and spring are press fitted.
Push hard to install the spring.

Measure the spring length. Adjust the spring
preload to the recommended setting, see
section Set-up data in this folder.

Install the shock absorber to the vehicle
according to the procedure in this folder.
Check sag and ride height (see Owner’s
Manual) and adjust spring preload again if
necessary.
Note!
Tighten the spring platform locknut before riding
your Vehicle.
