Quick install (DHCP network)
1. Observe all safety precautions
2. Connect the Display (1920x1080 or 1920x1200 @ 60Hz)
3. Set the resolution switch on the XDS-100 to the Display
resolution
4. Connect Desktop input (Display resolution @ 60Hz;
Highest Color Quality - 32 bit)
5. For Ethernet connection, use a local area network with
DHCP enabled and connect both XDS-100 and Desktop
generating PC to it. DHCP server is required in this net-
work setup! (Alternatively, fixed IP addresses can be used. See
topic Local Network without DHCP server on this page)
6. Connect hard wired sources
7. Connect power to all devices
8. Switch on all devices
9. If XDS CC software will be used to display sources, set
the XDS-100 to Desktop On:
• Press MENU on the RCU to pop up the Menubar
• Use to navigate to General and press to open
• Use to navigate to Desktop and press to open
• Press or to highlight On (if not highlighted already)
• Press ENTER to confirm
• Press MENU to exit the Menubar
Note: it is also possible to connect and control a Tandberg Video Conference
system, a Nexia audio switcher, network desktop sharing sources and remote
keyboard/mouse.
Quick display of a single source
1. Press MENU on the RCU to pop up the Menubar
2. Make sure General > Desktop is set to Off
3. Use ◄ or ► to select Source selection and press
4. From the list, select the source and press ENTER
The source is scaled to full screen, native aspect ratio.
XDS CC software installation (basic)
1. On the Desktop generating PC, set the graphics card:
- Same resolution setting as the XDS-100 resolution switch
- Color Quality: Hightest (or 32 bit)
- Desktop color settings: default values (do not change)
- Single Display or Clone mode (i.e. same image on both displays)
2. In Windows 7, right click the desktop, click Screen Resolution
- Check/correct the resolution
- Click Make text and other items larger or smaller
- Check the radio button Smaller - 100%
3. Run the XDS software installer XDS_w.x.y.z_XDS100.exe
4. Carefully follow the instructions and leave the checkboxes to
their default value:
- Skip administrator privilege settings
- Accept End User License Agreement
- Display ID must be unique (e.g. DISPLAY1)
- Display Name (e.g. Meeting Room Einstein)
- Workgroup Name (e.g. Sales)
- Location Name (e.g. Paris)
- XDS-100 Network address or Hostname = X<serial n°> (e.g.
X13914267291)
To know the serial number:
see label at rear side of XDS-100
- Administrator name:
Must be a known Windows login name on this PC. This login must
have a non-blank password. (you must be able to login Windows on this PC
using the specified name and password)
- Check boxes to create shortcuts and to reboot and click Finish
5. The Desktop generating PC will reboot
6. After reboot, XDS CC software will automatically start.
XDS CC software license
If you want to use one of the following functionalities:
• XDS Desktop Sharing: to show laptops on the Display over the
network
• XDS Remote Control Center: to remotely control the Display system,
then install XDS_w.x.y.z_UserClients.exe on the considered remote
laptops. These functionalities require a license file to be installed!
If you did not yet receive the E-mail including the license file, fol-
low the procedure below:
1. Send an E-mail to Barco to request a license file and add the
serial number of the XDS-100 to the mail. This must be the
same serial number as the one entered during installation of
the XDS CC software on the Desktop PC!
2. An XDS.lic file will be received by E-mail
Import the license file: in the Barco XDS Control Center user inter-
face, go to Help > Import License File... and follow the instructions.
XDS Software operation (basic)
• Launching a source: in the Sources window of the Barco XDS
Control Center, click a source icon
• Launching a layout: in the Layouts window of the Barco XDS
Control Center, select a presentation and click a layout.
Notes:
• At first use of XDS CC software, no Layouts are available!
• Right-click on a source to rename it and/or change the icon
• In Administrator mode, more options are available under Main menu
bar > Tools > Configure...
• An administrator can also use XDS Remote Administration client
(XDS_w.x.y.z_AdminClients.exe , license required - see above)
Local Network without DHCP server (= Private subnet)
1. All units must have a unique and fixed IP address, prefer-
ably in the range 192.168.x.y
2. XDS-100 must be set to Fixed IP (in the Menubar, browse to
Installation > Network setup, using the RCU)
3. During XDS CC software installation, enter the XDS-100 Net-
work address, being its fixed and unique IP address. Alter-
natively, this IP address can be set via the Control Center user
interface (Browse to Tools > Configure > Configure Display >
XDS Device [XDS-100 or Projector])
Note: A cross-type Network cable should be used if XDS-100 is
directly connected to the Desktop Generating PC.
