Installaon
TheDTA-100LFcanbeconvenientlymountedontoorunderneathashelfordesk
withtheincludedmounngbrackets.Thebracketscanbeaachedtothesideof
theamplierbyremovingthescrewsonthesidesoftheamplierwithaPhillips
screwdriverandreplacingthemwiththebracketsinplace.
Donotblockthesidevents.EventhoughtheDTA-100LFwilltypicallyruncool,
thesideventsallowairtocirculatethroughthechassis.Donotblockthevents
foranyreason.

1. Gain -Setstheoverallleveloftheamplier,whichisusedtomatchtheoutputofthe
subwoofertotherestofthespeakersinthesystem.Gainadjustmentdoesnotaectline
outpass-throughlevel.
2. Low Pass Frequency Adjustment -Adjuststhe24dB/octlow-passcrossover
frequencyfrom30Hzto200Hz.Thisadjustmentwillallowyoutoproperlyintegrate
thesubwooferwithmainorsatellitespeakers.Itisrecommendedtoexperimentwith
dierentsengsunlthesmoothesttransionbetweensubwooferandspeakersis
achieved.Ifyouareusingasourcethatalreadycreatesalowpassed,linelevel(RCA)
subwooferoutput(likeasuboutjackonareceiver),itisimportantthatyouonlyuse
thelowpasslteradjustmentonthereceiverorontheDTA-100LFtoavoidinteracon
betweentheselters.Ifyouchoosetouseyourreceiverslowpasslteradjustment,set
theFREQknobontheDTA-100LFtoitsmaximumsengof200Hz.
3. Phase -Thephaseadjustmentdialallowsyoutocompensatefordierencesin
theacouscalandelectricalcharacteriscsbetweenthesubwooferandthemain
systemspeakers.Therelavelocaonsofspeakersinthesystemcancausesignicant
disturbancesinspeakerinteraconduetomedelayissues,orthedestrucvephase
interferencesthatcanoccuratcertainfrequencies.Experimentaonwiththisdialin
conjunconwithalteringthelocaonofthesubwoofercandramacallyimprove
systemintegraon.
4. Power LED -Theampliercanbeturnedonbyeitherthemainpowerswitchor
AUTOON.WhentheindicatorLEDisred,theamplierisinstandbymode.Whenthe
LEDisblue,theamplierisfullyacve.
5. EQ -TheEQadjustmentknobsenablesyoutocustom-tailoronebandofparametric
equalizaonfortheirsubwoofer,whichcanbeusedtoaddboosttothelow-endofthe
response,orcanbeusedtocutoutanexcessivelyloudroomresonance.TheFREQknob
selectsthefrequencyforthelterbetween10to80Hz.Thebandwidthknobselectshow
wideornarrowthelteris(thehigherthebandwidth,thebroadertheeect).Thelevel
knobcanbeusedtoaddupto5dBofboostor11.5dBofcut.

2. EQ -ThesinglebandEQsetonthefrontpanelcanbedeacvatedbycompletely
removingitfromthesignalpath.EnablingtheEQfunconwilldroptheoveralloutput
leveloftheamplierby6dB.Thisistoallowuptoa6dBboostusingtheEQknobs
withouttheriskofover-drivingtheamplier.
3. Line Output -StereoRCAjacksallowthelinelevelstereoinputsignaltobeoutput
tootheraudioequipment.Thisfullrangesignalmirrorstheaudioontheinputandis
notsummedtomonooraectedbythegain,EQ,lowpasslter,phase,orsubsonic
lteradjustments.
4. Line Input -StereoRCAjacksreceivetheaudiosignalfromstandardline-levelaudio
sources.Whenpossible,boththeleandrightaudioinputsshouldbeconnectedand
areinternallysummedtoamonooutput.IfusingamonoRCASUBOUToranother
monoinputsource,simplyconnectittotheLEFTRCAinputandleavetheRIGHTRCA
inputdisconnected.
5. Subsonic Filter -Adjuststhe12dB/octhigh-passlterfrom0Hzto100Hz.Thishelps
removesubsonicinformaonfromthesignalandghtenthelow-endresponseofsome
subwoofersystems.Thiscanbeparcularlyusefulforprotecngportedsubwoofersystems.
6. Speaker Output -Speakerleveloutputconneconscarrytheampliedsignaltoa
passivesubwooferorbassshaker.Theincludedterminalscanacceptbarewire,spade
plugs,orbananaplugs.TheminimumratedloadfortheDTA-100LFoutputis4ohms.
7. AC Power -TheDTA-100LFiscapableof110Vand220Voperaon.Theinternalpower
supplycanautomacallysensethepowerinputandoperateappropriately;simply
connecttheappropriateACpowercordtoyourwalloutlet.

sendsafullrangeaudiooutputandisnotaectedbythebuiltinEQ,crossover,
orsubsonicltertheDTA-100LFcanbeplacedeitherbeforeoraerafullrange
amplierorpoweredspeakers.
Output -Using16AWG(minimum)2-conductorstrandedspeakerwirestrip
approximately1/2ofshieldingfromeachendandtwisttogethersothatthere
arenoloosestandsthatcancauseshortsanddamagetheamplier.Withthe
amplierpoweredoconnectthepreparedwiretotheappropriate+and-
terminalsonboththeamplierandanunpoweredsubwoofer.Verifythatthe
ampandsubwooferareconnectedusingthesamepolaritytoexperiencethefull
poweroftheDTA-100LF.
Operaon
Power -TopowerontheDTA-100LFtogglethePOWERON/OFFswitch.Ifthe
AUTO-ONswitchis“o”theamplierwillbeginworkingimmediately.
Automac Power Sensing -TheAUTOONfeatureishandywhenusingtheDTA-
100LFinconjunconwithotheraudioequipmentandcanautomacallyturnon
whenaudioisdetected.Whenan8mVsignalisdetectedontheRCAinputsthe
amplierturnsfromSTANDBYtoONmode.Theamplierwillautomacallyenter
STANDBYwhennoaudiohasbeendetectedforeenminutes.
Crossover -Thelowpasslteradjustmentsetsthefrequencyatwhichaudio
contentwillpasstotheDTA-100LFSpeakerOutput.Alowpassltermeansthat
thefrequenciesbelowthetargetfrequencywillbeunaected,andthehigher
frequencieswillberemoved.Removinghigherfrequencieswillallowtheamplier
andconnectedsubwoofertoproducecleardistoron-freeaudio.Adjustthelow
passlterfrequencybetween30Hzto200Hzsothereisanaturalsounding
transionfromthemainspeakersandtheconnectedsubwoofer.Thisvaluewill
changedependingonthesizeofthespeakersandsubwooferbeingused.
Phase -Thephasesengisusedtocompensateforthesubwooferslocaon
relavetothemainspeakers,andcreateasmoothertransionfromthemain
speakerstotheconnectedsubwoofer.
