1 About this document
1.1 Purpose of this document
The Operating Instructions (OI) are an integral part of the
product and provide the information required to ensure correct
and safe operation.
1.2 Using this document
uRead these Operating Instructions (OI) carefully before oper-
ating the unit.
uKeep these instructions with the vessel.
uHand these instructions on to the following owner or user
of the unit.

1.4 Warranty and liability
Webasto shall not assume liability for defects or damages that
are the result of disregarding the installation and operating in-
structions. This liability exclusion particularly applies to:
nInstallation by untrained personnel.
nImproper use.
nRepairs not carried out by a Webasto service workshop.
nUse of non-genuine parts.
nConversion of the unit without permission from Webasto.
nMechanical damage to the equipment.
nNon-compliance with inspection and maintenance instruc-
tions.
2 Safety
2.1 Intended use
The FS 2500 is an electrically operated marine folding shade sys-
tem for comfort purposes. The FS 2500 is designed for use on
motor and sailing yachts.
2.2 Safety information
Description

away from the opening to prevent injury
when closing the folding shade.

Do not stand or walk on the shading sys-
tem!
CAUTION
Risk of damage due to vessel speed and / or
weather conditions
uClose the shading system at:
-Speeds above 40knots (kts)
-A sea state of more than 1meter (m)
-At wind speeds over 16knots (kts) / 4 Beaufort
(4Bft)
CAUTION
Risk of damage due to snow load
uKeep the shading system closed and free from
snow.

3.2 Opening the folding shade
3.2.1 Opening the folding shade

The folding shade opens while the Open button is pressed.
nMain power supply is switched on.
1. Push and hold the Open button to open the folding shade.
2. Release the Open button when the folding shade has
reached the desired position.
3.2.2 One touch opening
When the ''one-touch opening'' option is installed the folding
shade opens completely after briefly pushing the Open button.
nMain power supply is switched on.
1. Push the Open button briefly.
The folding shade opens completely.
2. Optionally, briefly pushing the Open button again stops the
opening movement.
3.3 Closing the folding shade

The folding shade closes while the Close button is pressed.
nMain power supply is switched on.
1. Push and hold the Close button to close the folding shade.
2. Release the Close button when the folding shade has
reached the desired position.
3.3.2 One touch closing
When this option is installed the folding shade closes up to
200mm from the fullly closed position after briefly pushing the
Close button. This position has been set for safety reasons to
make sure nobody gets trapped between the folding shade and
the deck structure.
nMain power supply is switched on.
1. Push the Close button briefly.
The folding shade closes up to 200mm from the fully
closed position.
Optionally, briefly pushing the Close button again stops
the closing movement.
2. Push and hold the Close button to fully close the folding
shade.
3. Release the Close button when the folding shade has
reached the fully closed position.

4 Maintenance
CAUTION
Cleaning agents may contain harmful components
Damage to the product.
uNever use solvents such as:
-Alkaline products containing sodium solutions
-Methylated spirits
-Muriatic acid or products containing phosphor
-Turpentine
-White spirit
-Window cleaning products
CAUTION
Dry materials can damage the shading system
uNever rub the dry surface of the shading system.
uNever use steel wool, abrasives or sandpaper.
CAUTION
High-pressure cleaners can damage the shading
system
uNever use a high-pressure cleaner to clean the shad-
ing system.
Regular maintenance of the shading system makes cleaning
easier and ensures smooth operation.
Clean and check the functioning of the drainage system regu-
larly by pouring water into the gutters. The water should drain
off quickly.
4.1 Cleaning
1. Wash the shading system with clean, lukewarm water and
a soft brush.
2. Dry the fabric in the open air.
In case of stubborn stains:
1. Use a mild soap or Tex Activ Cleaner, dissolved in lukewarm
water.
2. Rinse the fabric with clean water.
3. Dry the fabric in the open air.
4. Make the fabric water repellent again after using Tex Activ
Cleaner.
4.2 Greasing

1. Clean the inside of the guides.
2. Apply a thin layer of grease (Isoflex® Topas L32) to the in-
side of the guides.

1. Close the folding shade completely.
2. Locate the tensioning bolts:
The tensioning bolt (1) is in the rear shoe (2) on the left
and right guides (3) at the rear of the folding shade, and
near the drive tubes (4).
3. To stretch the outer fabric and remove any wrinkles or
folds, evenly tighten the tensioning bolts (1) for the left and
right guide.
5 Troubleshooting

If necessary, you may be able to operate the FS 2500 manually.
The procedure to follow depends on the exact issue you need
to address.
CAUTION
Uncontrolled / inadvertent movements of the
manual operation tool
Risk of injury and/or damage of components.
uDo not operate the control switch during manual
operation.
6.1 Manually moving the folding shade
over less than 25 cm
uGain access to the motor assembly.

uInsert the key in the slot of the motor.
uTurn the key to close or open the folding shade.
NOTE
After manual operation you must reinitialize
the FS 2500.
To perform reinitialisation, follow the steps in chapter6.3,
"Reinitializing the control system" on page 7.
6.2 Manually moving the folding shade
over more than 25 cm
1. In case the FS 2500 is closed and locked, first unlock it by
opening the FS 2500 for at least 10 cm as described in
Manually moving the folding shade over less than 25 cm.
2. Remove key for manual operation.
nAccess the motor assembly.

1. Disconnect the wiring harness (1) from the motor.
2. Remove all bolts and washers (2).
3. Remove the motor.

nPush the front beam to the desired (open or closed) posi-
tion.
NOTE
After manual operation you must reinitialize
the FS 2500.
To perform reinitialisation, follow the steps in chapter6.3,
"Reinitializing the control system" on page 7.

6.3 Reinitializing the control system
Make sure that the available power source meets the require-
ments described in chapter7.1, "Technical data" on page 8.
1. Press and hold the Close button.
The FS 2500 closes as far as possible.
2. Release the Close button.
3. Press and hold the Close button.
After approximately 10seconds the FS 2500 slides in
small steps until completely closed.
The motor produces a loud ‘click’ sound.
4. Release the Close button.
-The control system has been initialized.
5. Open / close the FS 2500 several times.
6. Verify smooth operation.
