Safety Instructions

Overview

Before starting operation of the FRITZ!Fon, observe the following secu-

rity instructions in order to protect yourself, the surroundings, and the

FRITZ!Fon from harm.

Fires and Electrical Shocks

Overloaded outlets, extension cords, and power strips can cause fires

or electric shocks.

• Avoid using socket strips and extension cords if at all possible.

• Do not connect multiple extension cords or socket strips to each

other.

Protection from Storms and Lightning Damage

During storms, overvoltage surges can disrupt electrical and telephone

networks. This can cause damage to connected electrical devices.

• Do not install the FRITZ!Fon during an electrical storm.

Moisture, Liquids, and Vapors

Moisture, liquids, and vapors that find their way into the FRITZ!Fon can

cause electric shocks or short circuits.

• Only use the FRITZ!Fon indoors.

• Never let liquids get inside the FRITZ!Fon.

• Protect the FRITZ!Fon from vapors and moisture.

Explosion Hazard through Improper Battery Handling

If the battery is handled improperly, there is a danger of injury from ex-

plosion or burns.

• Replace the battery only with an original or identical battery. De-

tails on the battery are listed in the Technical Specifications; see

page145.

• Make sure that replacement batteries are inserted with the poles in

the correct position.

High Volume Warning

Loud noises can cause hearing loss.

• Do not use a headset or earphones at high volume for an extended

period of time.

Improper Cleaning

Improper cleaning with strong detergents, solvents or wet cloths can

cause damage to the FRITZ!Fon.

• Please refer to the information about cleaning your FRITZ!Fon; see

page14.

Improper Opening and Repairs

The device contains hazardous components and should only be opened

by authorized repair technicians.

• Do not open the charging station or the FRITZ!Fon housing.

• If the FRITZ!Fon needs to be repaired, please take it to a specialized

vendor.

Radio and Electromagnetic Interference

Radio interference can be generated by every device that emits elec-

tromagnetic signals. With so many devices transmitting and receiving

radio waves, interference can occur when radio waves overlap.

• Do not use the FRITZ!Fon in places where the use of radio devices is

prohibited.

• Follow any instructions to switch off radio devices – especially in

hospitals, outpatient treatment centers, medical practices, and oth-

er medical facilities – in order to prevent interference with sensitive

medical equipment.

FRITZ!Fon.

• If applicable, maintain the minimum distance of 15cm recommend-

ed by the manufacturers of medical devices in order to prevent

malfunctions of your medical device.

Potentially Explosive Environments

Under unfavorable conditions, radio waves can cause fires or explo-

sions in explosive environments.

• Do not operate your FRITZ!Fon in the vicinity of flammable gases,

areas where the air contains chemicals or particles like grain, dust

or metal powder, or in the vicinity of detonation grounds.

• In locations with potentially explosive atmospheres, and in the

vicinity of detonation grounds, follow the instructions to switch off

electronic devices in order to prevent interference with detonation

and ignition systems.

Cordless (DECT) Telephone

FRITZ!Fon X6 is a cordless telephone for internet and landline telepho-

ny. The FRITZ!Fon was developed especially for use with FRITZ!Box

models that include DECT base stations:

• When you use a FRITZ!Box you can take advantage of functions like

call lists, telephone books, answering machines, clocks, web ser-

vices, and software updates.

• With other base stations you can still use basic functions like regis-

tration with the base station and making telephone calls.

Telephone Book

When used with a FRITZ!Box, the following contacts are available:

• local telephone books with up to 300 entries, quick-dial numbers,

and contact pictures

• online contacts, for instance Google Contacts and contacts in Card-

DAV format.

Answering Machine

When used with a FRITZ!Box, an answering machine with the following

features is available:

• notification of new messages automatically by email

• scheduling

• remote playback

Remote Control

The following devices can be configured in your FRITZ!Box and con-

trolled with the FRITZ!Fon:

• FRITZ!DECT200/210 smart plugs
