Prepare for Installation
IMPORTANT: Retain all parts removed during disassembly, unless otherwise directed.
NOTE: Observe proper electrostatic safety precautions when handling static-sensitive

1. Turn off the printer and disconnect it from the power source.
2. Disconnect all data cables.
Remove the Option Card or Option Cover
The option card slot either contains an existing option card or is covered by a plastic cover. Remove
whichever is in that slot.
1. Remove the option card (if applicable).
a) Remove the two T10 screws that secure the card to the printer.
b) Slide the card out of the option slot.
2. Remove theplastic cover(if applicable).
a) Squeeze in the tabs on either end of the cover.
b) Remove thecover from the printer.

Install the Wireless Option Card
1. Slide the wireless option card into the option slot.
2. Install the two new T10 screws to secure the card to the printer.
3. Screw the antenna onto the connector extending out of the option card.
4. Install the Compliance label for your printer model on the inside of the media compartment.
Resume Printer Operation
1. Reconnect the AC power cord and interface cables.
2. Turn on the printer power.

Configure the Printer for Wi-Fi Operation
1. Connect the printer to your computer using a USB or serial connection.
2. Is the printer to be used in the United States, Canada, or Japan?
If… Then...
Yes The country code has been preset at the factory and cannot be
changed.
No The country code must be set for your wireless board.
IMPORTANT: The list of country codes is specific to
each printer and depends on the printer model and its
wireless radio configuration. The list is subject to change,
addition, or deletion with any firmware update, at any
time, without notice.
a. To determine the country code available on your printer, issue
the following command to return all commands related to
WLAN settings.
! U1 getvar "wlan"
b. Locate the wlan.country.code command in the results, and
note the country code available for your printer.
c. Send the following command with the appropriate country
code value. When this value has been set, it cannot be
changed.
! U1 setvar "wlan.country_code" "value"
3. Configure the following parameters on the printer:
Wi-Fi IP Protocol (All or Permanent)
Wi-Fi IP Address (if you selected Permanent, assign a unique IP address)
Wi-Fi Subnet (match the subnet value of your WLAN)
Wi-Fi Gateway (match the gateway value of your WLAN)
4. Reset the network to apply the changes by sending the device.reset SGD command.
