This
Switch 4007 Command Reference Guide
provides information about
the commands that you use to configure and manage switching modules
in the Switch 4007 system. These commands pertain to the menu-driven
command line interface that is included in each module’s software. This
interface is called the Administration Console.
For information about the Management Module (also known as the
Enterprise Management Engine, or EME),its CLI commands, how to log
into the system, or how to connect to a switching module, see the
Switch 4007 Implementation Guide
.
Scope of this Guide
The commands in this guide pertain to Release 3.0.5 software.
Switch 4007 modules are pre-loaded with software at the factory.
However, the software that was loaded on the components that you
received may be an earlier release. Connect to each module and use the
module display
command to determine what release is loaded. Go to
the 3Com Web site (
http://support.3com.com
) to download the latest
software.
If the information in the release notes that correspond with the software
on your modules differs from the information in this guide, follow the
instructions in the release notes.

Audience
This guide is intended for the network administrator who is responsible
for configuring, using, and managing the Switch 4007 system. It assumes
a working knowledge of local area network (LAN) operations and
familiarity with communications protocols that are used on
interconnected LANs.
Using This Book
This guide contains information for every command for the platforms
listed at the beginning of this chapter. It includes specific information
about command syntax, field descriptions, default values, and the
possible range of values. Some command descriptions include a section
called “Important Considerations” that contains additional information
to be aware of when using the command. Where appropriate, examples
help you to understand the commands.
This guide does not contain troubleshooting information or instructional
material about why or when to use a particular feature. For information

Command
The word “command” means that you enter the command
exactly as shown in the text and then press Return or Enter.
Commands appear in bold. Example:
