1. Introduction:
The following tools are needed in order to properly upgrade the CK3E to the latest firmware:
- CK3E
- Power Cable (for CK3E)
- Ethernet Cable
- Power PMAC IDE
- File (Powerpmac_arm.deb)
2. Beginning Upgrade:
Begin by providing power (input 24VDC) to the CK3E located on the lower left-hand side of the device. (1) NOTE:
Verification will show a green LED appear on the top-left of device next to power (abbreviated PWR) (2)
(Image 1: Power Supply Location to CK3E)
Next, connect an Ethernet cable from laptop/desktop to the Ethernet Port on the CK3E (this will allow
communication from the CK3E to IDE software). (2)

To establish communication with the CK3E, open the Power PMAC IDE 4 software. (3) Select “Communication
Setup” located on the top-left of the PMAC IDE’s navigation bar. Apply the proper settings for the device
including IP Address, Protocol, User, and Password. Once the desired settings are established, select the “Test”
button. Verification to proper connection from the CK3E will show a message indicating Power PMAC
connection successful. Select OK to Apply or Cancel to go back to Device dialog”. (4)(5)

NOTE: After successfully establishing communication. Users are recommended to check the current
firmware version, before proceeding. Type the following command in the Terminal window (6): “vers”.

3. Firmware Upgrade:
In the IDE software, proceed to navigate to “Delta Tau->Update Firmware” located in the menu bar. The
following window titled “Firmware” will display. Click the “Download Firmware” button, a message will appear
stating a factory reset is recommended for Power PMAC before proceeding, select “OK”. (8) Afterwards, navigate
and select the stored file on laptop/desktop namedPower_pmac.deb”. (9) Power PMAC IDE will then perform
the firmware update. During this time, PMAC IDE will process a reboot.

NOTE: It is important not to disable power/disconnect Ethernet during this process. IDE will disconnect
from device which will display a red bar on the top of the IDE. Once firmware update is completed,
multiple validations will indicate that a successful firmware upgrade has been finished. The various
validations will indicate a green bar appearing at the top of the IDE screen showing device is re-
connected, the terminal window indicating a successful connection, and the firmware screen window also
establishing a successful connection. On the top of the IDE (within the green bar), there will now show
the newest uploaded firmware version as verification. (10)

4. Power Cycle Validation
Upon completing the upgrade, it is recommended to power cycle the device and repeat step 2, validating the
device’s current firmware version (IMAGE 6). The terminal will display the successful upgrade version.
If issue’s do arise and the firmware upgrade did not successfully upgrade:
