OPERATION WITH A BATTERY (12V DC)
FOR OPTIMUM PERFORMANCE
Prior to travel: • Pre-cool the portable fridge at home on 230-240V mains power for several hours before use in a vehicle.
• Products to be stored in the portable fridge should also be pre-cooled, or frozen if possible.
Travelling: • When in a vehicle operate the fridge from 12V DC only. The fridge MUST NOT be operated on bottled
gas when in a vehicle.
At Destination: Set up appliance on level ground (bubble must be within inner red circle), connect to gas supply and
operate according to the following instructions.
• For best results in warm weather keep unit shaded from direct sun.
• Ensure there is sufficient space around the contents in the fridge for circulation of cold air.
Do not use another source of energy at the same time (mains, liquefied petroleum gas LPG). A safety fuse must be installed in the
power supply line between the battery and the refrigerator. For 12V, the maximum fuse rating is 15 amps.
NOTE: It is recommended that direct connection to the
battery via a dedicated power cable is used to ensure
correct voltage is supplied to the unit. This will reduce
voltage drop or power loss through poor connection.
Check that the battery voltage corresponds to the operating
voltage of the refrigerator, if unit is being used in a car, only
switch the refrigerator on while travelling. If the refrigerator is
left running when the car is stopped, this could discharge the
battery and it may be impossible to restart the engine.
IMPORTANT
We recommend the fridge only be operated when the vehicles motor is running. Operating the fridge with the vehicle motor not
running will rapidly decrease battery charge level, which may result in the inability to start the vehicle.

OPERATION ON GAS
Connect the cooler to the cylinder, all connections are to be tightened with a spanner. Once connected turn the gas valve on
and check all connections for leaks using soapy water – Never check for leaks with an open flame. Check that the unit is
disconnected from all 12V DC & 240V AC power sources and that it is located on a solid flat surface
Open the valve on gas cylinder
Depress the Gas control knob and hold in for 15 seconds – (FIG 1)
With the control knob still depressed, turn anti clock wise until you hear the click of the piezo
ignition – (FIG 2)
Continue to depress the gas control knob and check if the burner is alight by checking that the
needle on the pilot light gauge is in the green section. – (FIG 3)
If the burner is not alight return the gas control valve to the off position and re-light.
Once the burner is alight, hold the control valve in for a further 20 seconds then release.
Turn the thermostat knob to the MAX position. The effects of the cooling process (frost on the
evaporator) may become visible after about an hour – (FIG 2)
The thermostat enables the temperature of the cooler to be adjustable
After a sufficient cooling period (approximately 5 hours) the thermostat can be set to an
intermediate position. The selected temperature is regulated automatically by the thermostat.
IMPORTANT
When unit is to be operated for the first time or has not been connected to a gas supply for a period
of time the gas control valve should be held in for 30 to 60 seconds prior to turning anti clockwise to
engage the piezo ignition. This is to allow a sufficient amount of gas to fill the regulator, gas hose so
as the pilot light can be ignited.
DISCONNECTING FROM LP GAS
With the cooler still operating, turn the valve on the cylinder to the “OFF” position. This will allow
the cooler to consume the LP gas remaining in the hose and regulator.
Check that the burner has been extinguished then return the gas control valve to
the “OFF” position.
CONNECTION TO GENERATORS
DC SUPPLY
DO NOT connect the fridge directly to the DC output connection of the generator. The DC output connector of the generator
must be connected to a suitable 12V DC battery that the fridge is drawing power from.
AC SUPPLY
It is recommended that the fridge not be connected directly to any generator that has an unregulated or unstable power
output. To reduce the risk of damage to the fridge from insufficient or over supply of AC power it is recommended that the
fridge only be connected directly to a regulated output from a Digital Inverter style of generator.
STORING FOOD
Liquids to be stored in the refrigerator should always be placed in a closed vessel. The air circulation inside the appliance
must not be obstructed. Never place hot food or drink in the appliance.
DEFROSTING
The refrigerator must be defrosted regularly, in order to ensure that it operates correctly.
To defrost the refrigerator, disconnect it and remove all food outside. If necessary, use a cloth soaked with hot water. After

and dry the inside of the appliance. In order to prevent unpleasant odour, leave the cover of the refrigerator slightly open.
MEASURES TO BE TAKEN AFTER UNUSED FOR A LONG PERIOD
If, after an extensive lay-up period, the refrigerator does not produce any cooling, disconnect the appliance and turn it upside
down for a few minutes then turn it the right way up. After you have turned it over several times, reconnect it.
MAINTENANCE
Clean the appliance regularly with warm water, containing a detergent if necessary. Never use an abrasive product.
Dry the cleaned surfaces with a soft cloth. Use only clear water to clean the seal of the cover, and then coat the seal
with talcum powder. All repairs, particularly of the cooling unit or the gas burner system, must mandatorily be carried
out by a qualified technician.
TROUBLE SHOOTING
If a problem occurs, carry out the following checks:
Is the appliance installed in a horizontal position?
Is there sufficient ventilation?
For 230/240V AC mains operation, check that the mains supply is correct. And is the thermostat set correctly?
For battery operation, check the battery and the connection.
For gas operation, is the burner ignited?
Has the ignition safety (adjustment) knob been set to MAX?
Is the gas cylinder valve open?
Is there still a sufficient quantity of gas in the cylinder? The cylinder is empty if no liquid can be heard moving about when
it is shaken.
Have two modes of energy (gas and electricity) been selected at the same time?
Has too much food been placed inside the refrigerator all at once? Arrange the food so that the air is free to circulate
inside the refrigerator.
If, despite the above checks, you still need to contact the service department, describe the failure and state the type of
equipment and its serial number (these are marked on the label).
