Read the instructions, keep them safe, pass them on if you pass the appliance on. Remove all
packaging before use.
A IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS
Follow basic safety precautions, including:
1 This appliance can be used by children aged from 8 years and
above and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental
capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have
been supervised/instructed and understand the hazards involved.
Children shall not play with the appliance.
Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be done by children
unless they are older than 8 and supervised.
Keep the appliance and cable out of reach of children under 8.
lDon’t immerse the appliance in liquid.
hThe surfaces of the appliance will get hot.
2 If the cable is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer,
its service agent, or someone similarly qualified, to avoid hazard.
3 Sit the appliance on a stable, level, heat-resistant surface.
4 Keep the appliance and cable away from the edges of worktops.
5 Don’t use accessories or attachments other than those we supply.
6 Don’t use the appliance for any purpose other than those described in these instructions.
7 Don’t use the appliance if it’s damaged or malfunctions.

U BEFORE USING FOR THE FIRST TIME
•Fill the reservoir to the max mark, and run the appliance without coffee.
•Let it cool, discard the water, then use it normally.
C FILLING
1 Remove the carafe from the hotplate.
2 Lift the lid off the reservoir.
3 Fill with at least 2 cups of water, but not above the max mark.
4 Replace the reservoir lid.
5 The arrow B on the lid must point towards the appliance.
6 Alternatively, you may lift the reservoir off the appliance, fill it in the kitchen, and carry it back
to the appliance.
7 If you do this, make sure that the reservoir is in place, and the catches on top of the reservoir
are hooked over the tabs in the body of the appliance, before you proceed.
8 Press the lid lock to open the lid.
9 Open up a #4 paper filter, and put it into the filter holder.
10 Put 6g (1 rounded teaspoon) of filter-ground coffee into the filter for each cup of water.
11 Close the lid, and press down to lock it.
12 Replace the carafe on the hotplate.
C SWITCHING ON
13 Put the plug into the power socket.
14 The appliance will beep.

15 The power light will glow as long as the appliance is connected to the electricity supply.
16 Press and release the button.
17 Shortly afterwards, coffee will start to drip into the carafe.
18 When it’s done, the hotplate will keep the carafe warm.
19 The status light will change colour to show how fresh the coffee is.
blue (flashing) brewing
green 0-15 minutes since brewing
purple 15-30 minutes since brewing
red 30-60 minutes since brewing
20 After 1 hour, the hotplate will switch off.
21 After about half an hour, chemical changes will affect the flavour of the coffee.
C FINISHED?
22 Unplug, and let the appliance and carafe cool down fully before cleaning, or for about 10
minutes before refilling.
C A QUICK CUP
23 You can remove the carafe at any time. To prevent the filter holder overflowing, replace the
carafe on the hotplate within about 20 seconds.
, The coffee grounds will retain water, so the amount of liquid in the carafe will be slightly less
than the amount of water in the reservoir.
C CARE AND MAINTENANCE
24 Unplug the appliance and let it cool.
25 Press the lid lock to open the lid.
26 Tip the contents of the filter holder into the bin.
27 Press the lever at the rear of the carafe lid, above the handle, to open the carafe lid.
28 Hand wash the carafe and filter holder.
¬ You may wash these parts in the top rack of a dishwasher.
29 Wipe all surfaces with a clean damp cloth.
30 Turn the filter holder to bring the slot in its rim towards the lid, then lower the filter holder
back into the coffee maker.
31 Close the lid, and press down to lock it.
Descale regularly, (at least monthly).
32 Descale the appliance at least monthly with a proprietary descaler. Follow the instructions on
the package of descaler.
