1 Before initial use
1.1 Intended Purpose
A traditional weather station predicts the weather based on changes in the barometric pressure.
The 302 NE does receive it’s coded weather information from Meteotime (www.meteotime.com).
The Meteotime weather forecasts are produced twice a day by the weatheroffice Meteotest (www.meteotest.ch).
Meteotest offers reliable weather forecasts anywhere in the world.
The Meteotime weather forecast is broadcasted via the stations for radio-controlled clocks HBG (located in Switzerland)
and DCF (located in Germany).
You are able to receive weather forecasts for 60 meteorological regions within Europe for up to 4 days, and offer a 2-
day forecasts for an additional 30 regions.

1.3 Important
The weather should only be viewed as guidance values. It doesn’t present an absolutely precise forecast. The
manufacturer does not take on responsibility for incorrect displays, recordings or weather forecasts and the
consequences which may result from it.
1.4 Safety advice
1.4.1 General safety
Always read the user guide instructions carefully before using the device.
Keep this user manual for future reference.
This product is not a toy, it contains fragile and swallowable glass parts, small parts and also batteries. Do not
permit children to play with it.
The product is intended for private use only.
Do not use this product in hospitals or medical institutions. Although the outdoor sensor emits only relatively weak
radio signals, these may lead to malfunction of life-supporting systems.
Do not operate if the unit itself is damaged.
If the unit is dropped, it must be checked by a service centre before further use.
Dangerous voltages are present inside the unit. Never open the housing or insert objects through the ventilation
holes.
Do not allow liquids to get into the unit. In that case, remove the batteries.
Similarly, if a fault develops during use or before you start to clean the unit, remove the batteries.
Do not carry out any modifications or repairs to the unit yourself. Have repairs done by a specialised service
centre.
Unsatisfactory repairs can lead to considerable danger for the user.
1.4.2 Batteries
Batteries can cause fire or burns when the terminals are short-circuit.
Be careful with charged batteries, especially when placing it inside a pocket, purse or other container with metal
objects. Conductive material such as coins can cause a short-circuit.
Do not replace batteries in a potentially explosive atmosphere. Contact sparking may occur while installing or
removing batteries and cause an explosion.
Never throw batteries in fire as they may explode.
Keep batteries away from small children.
Leaking acid from batteries may damage the device permanently. Remove the batteries if the device is not going
to be used for a long period.
Handle damaged or leaking batteries very carefully.

3 Installation
3.1 Battery installation
Install first the batteries of the outdoor sensor before installing the batteries of the main unit.
Once the batteries are installed, the main unit will automatically scan for the radio controlled clock signal, the Meteotime
weather signal and the outdoor sensor.
It can take up to 24 hour to get all information.
3.1.1 Outdoor sensor battery installation
Remove the 4 battery cover screws using a small cross head screwdriver.
Open the battery compartment on the backside of the outdoor sensor .
Install 2 x 1,5V AAA (LR03) Alkaline type batteries (not included). Follow the
polarity, indicated inside the battery compartment.
The outdoor sensor will show the temperature and humidity on the display .

3.1.2 Main unit battery installation
Install 4 x 1,5V AA Alkaline batteries (not included) in the battery compartment to activate
the display.
Open the battery compartment at the back of the unit.
Install 4 x 1,5V AA (LR06) Alkaline batteries following the polarity indicated inside
the battery compartment.
Close the battery compartment.
3.1.3 Low battery indication
The batteries must be replaced as soon as the low battery icon of the main unit or the outdoor sensor is displayed
on the main unit.
4Meteotime
4.1 Receiving the Meteotime signal.
Meteotime is an innovative system in the communication of
weather forecasts (www.meteotime.com).
® The Meteotime-Icon and the brand "Meteotime" are
internationally registered and protected!
Meteotime does get the weather forecasts twice a day from
the weather office Meteotest (www.meteotest.ch).
Meteotime adapts the weather data technically to the system
and sends it to Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB)
in Germany und METAS in Switzerland.
Both offices will transmit the weather date at precisely defined
time slots all over Europe.
The coverage of Europe with weather forecasts is optimal
thanks to the two time strong transmitters, DCF77 (PTB) and
HBG (METAS) (see illustration).
The 302NE has the Meteotime Technology built and does
receive and decode the data.

4.2 Radio Controlled Clock
DCF77 (PTB) and HBG (METAS) will also transmit the time signal, which is regulated by 4 atomic clocks and in average
deviates less than 1 second in 2 million years.
Because of that, the 302NE will indicate always the exact time.
4.3 Environmental reception effects
It is expected that the signal can cover a distance of 2,000 km from the transmitter.
However, some environmental effects may affect the transmitting distance.
Avoid the following situations to maximize the radio controlled clock and Meteotime signal reception:

4.4 Data transfer
Meteotime sends the data during precisely defined time slots in accordance with UTC (Coordinated Universal Time),
previously known as Greenwich Mean Time (GMT).
Central Europe has during the winter UTC+1, during the summer UTC+2
Great Britain and Portugal have during the winter UTC, during the summer UTC+1
Forecast transmission times (UTC):
22h00 - 3h59 - the actual (new) day (today)
04h00 - 09h59 - the next day (tomorrow)
10h00 - 15h59 - the following day (the day after tomorrow)
16h00 - 18h59 - the day following this (two days after tomorrow)
19h00 - 21h59 - the 30 additional regions
If the received data, during the above time slots, is incomplete or at times interfered, the forecast, or parts of them, will
be missing.
4.5 Outdoor sensor reception
Do not place the weather station and outdoor sensor next to each other, otherwise there may be reception problems
due to radio interferences. Keep a distance of at least 1 m between the two devices.
The maximum transmission range between outdoor sensor and weather station is up to 30 m under optimal conditions.
The range will be reduced by many factors:
Walls, reinforced concrete ceilings
Trees, bushes, earth, rocks
Metal & conducting objects (eg radiators)
Broadband interferences in residential areas (DECT telephones, mobiles, radio controlled headphones, radio-
controlled speakers, other radio-controlled weather stations, babyphones etc.)
It is advised to limit the distance between the weather station and the outdoor sensor.
5 Getting started
5.1 Meteotime receptions icons
Once the battery is installed, the main unit will automatically scan for the radio-controlled clock signal and the
Meteotime weather signal.
The time and date will appear in a few minutes.
After the time and the date signal is being received successfully, the display shows ‘SELECT COUNTRY’ and
then ‘FRANKFURT’ (or the previously set default city), in the information window. (See chapter “6.1 Setting the
country and city”).
Since there is a large amount of Weather information for all regions and days, the unit needs about 24 hours from
the time of the initial setup to complete the reception of all data. Until the weather information is received, the
weather icons will flash.
If the unit is able to receive the Meteotime signal successfully, the Meteotime icon will be displayed.
When no signal is received after 24 hours, will be displayed. Check if there are potential sources of
interference on the unit. (see chapter “4.3 Environmental reception effects”).

5.2 Test the reception quality
You are able the test the reception quality and to look for a better location.
Press the TEST - button . ‘SCAN’ is displayed in the information
window .
Move the unit to find a good location:
is flashing: The test is running and the Meteotime signal reception is
good. You are able to leave the device in this position.
is flashing: The test is running and the Meteotime signal reception is
poor. You need to keep on looking for a better location.
The test will take around 1 minute.
You can restart the test with the TEST - button at any time.
Press the TEST - button also to stop the test.

6 Settings
6.1 Setting the country and city
After it has successfully received the Meteotime signal, the display shows in the information window ‘SELECT
COUNTRY’. After a few more minutes, the information shows the default city ‘FRANKFURTH’.
Press the SET - button to switch between displaying the “cities sunrise & sunset time” or the “time & date”.
Press and hold the SET - button for 3 second. ‘COUNTRY’ (LAND INST), is displayed.
Press the up or down button to select another country.
A complete list of available countries and cities can be found at the last pages of this user guide.
Press the SET - button to confirm the country.
Press the up or down button to select your nearest city.
Press the TEST - button to confirm. The first city will be stored.
Press the up or down button to select another city (up to 5 cities can be stored).
Press the TEST - button to confirm or press the SET - button to exit. ‘EXIT’ (INST VERL) is displayed.
6.2 Display more cities information
If you have selected more than one city:
Press the SET - button repeatedly until the first city name is displayed.
Press the up or down to switch between the stored cities.
6.3 Remove the selected cities from the memory list
Press the SET - button to switch between displaying the “Cities Sunrise & Sunset time” or the “Time & Date”.
Press and hold the SET - button for 3 seconds. ‘COUNTRY’ (LAND INST) is displayed.
Press the up or down button to select the stored country.
Press the SET - button to confirm the country.
Press the up or down button to select the stored city.
Press the TEST - button to remove the city from the memory list.
Repeat, if necessary, to remove other cities.
Press the SET - button to exit.
6.4 Personalize a place name
Press and hold the SET - button for 3 second. ‘COUNTRY’ (LAND INST), is displayed.
Press the up or down button to select the stored country.
Press the SET - button to confirm the country.
Press the up or down button to select the city.
Press the MEM - button . A cursor flashes on the first position of the Information Window.
Press the up or down button to select a character.
Press the SET - button to confirm the character and jump to the next position.
Press the TEST - button to delete a wrongly entered character.
Press the SET - button twice to store the new name and exit the setting.
6.5 Setting the time zone, language and display contrast
Press and hold the SET - button for 3 second. ‘COUNTRY’ (LAND INST), is displayed.
Press the SET - button again. The time zone ‘ZONE +00 H’ is displayed.
Press the up or down button to change the time zone.
Press the SET - button to confirm. The actual display language is displayed.
Press the up or down to select one of the next display languages: German, English, Spanish, French,
Italian, Dutch or Swedish (German is the default language).
Press the SET - button to confirm. The display contrast is displayed.
Press the up or down button to select the desired display contrast.
Press the SET - button to confirm and exit the setting.
REMARK: If you do not have any selection into the setup mode up for 60 seconds, it will automatically exit the
setup mode.
6.6 Indoor / outdoor temperature and humidity
Press the IN/OUT - button to switch between displaying the indoor or outdoor temperature and humidity .
Press the MEM - button to read the record of the maximum and minimum temperature
Press and hold the MEM - button to clear the maximum and minimum temperature.
6.7 Linking the outdoor sensor with the main unit if the signal is lost
If the main unit cannot receive the outdoor sensor signal, the outdoor signal icon will change to .
Press and hold the IN/OUT - button for 3 second, and then the wave icon will flash.
If the signal has been received again, the outdoor signal icon will be .

The device will, based on the sunrise time and sunset time,
automatically switch to day weather or night weather
respectively.
The device is preset to show the day weather after sunrise time
and the night weather after sunset time.
Press the WEATHER - button to see the day weather
for 10-second period if it currently shows the night
weather, or vice versa.

7.3 Critical weather information
The Meteotime Weather signal contains Critical Weather Information such as Gust,
Frozen Rain, Heavy Snow, Thunder, Strong UV, Dense Fog, Bise, Mistral, etc. for
today and coming three days.
A critical weather alert signal will be turned on in case that day has critical
weather that the user must know.
Sometimes there are more than one critical weather information in the 4-days.
Press the WEATHER - button to read the critical weather information one
by one. The weather alert signal of that day will flash when you read the
information.
Press the SET - button to go back to display the city sunrise & sunset time
and date.
If you would like to read the weather information in the information window.
Press the WEATHER - button to display day/night weather information and also the Critical Weather
Information.
If no key is pressed, the critical weather information will toggle on the display to make sure you are aware of the
critical weather details.

Both weather station and outdoor sensor are wall mountable.
Drill holes, fit wall plugs and screw in screws.
Mount the weather station or outdoor sensor on the screws.

10 Cleaning and maintenance
10.1 Cleaning the device
To clean the device, wipe with a soft cloth dampened with water. To clean dirty joints, use a non-scratching brush.
Don’t use a cleaner or solvents on the unit. They can damage the case and leak inside, causing permanent
damage.
Battery contacts may be wiped with a dry lint-free cloth.
If the unit gets wet, turn it off and remove the batteries immediately. Dry the battery compartment with a soft cloth
to minimize potential water damage. Leave the cover off the battery compartment overnight or until completely
dry. Do not use the unit until completely dry.
When batteries leak, the escaped liquid can cause injuries (affect of the skin) or damage the device.
Dispose batteries according to the environmental requirements.
Use protection gloves and clean the battery compartment wit soft paper towel. It is recommended to let the unit
clean by professional.
10.2 Maintenance
Check the batteries of the device regularly.
To avoid leaking, immediately replace the batteries when the battery low icon is displayed.
Let defect parts repaired by a professional.

11 Disposal of the device (environment)
At the end of the product lifecycle, you should not throw this product into the normal household garbage
but bring the product to a collection point for the recycling of electrical and electronic equipments. The
symbol on the product, user guide and/or box indicate this.
Some of the product materials can be re-used if you bring them to a recycling point. By re-using some
parts or raw materials from used products you make an important contribution to the protection of the
environment. Please contact your local authorities in case you need more information on the collection
points in your area.
Batteries must be removed before disposing of the device.
Dispose of the batteries in an environmental manner according to your country regulations.
12 Topcom Warranty
12.1 Warranty period
The Topcom units have a 24-month warranty period. The warranty period starts on the day the new unit is purchased.
There is no warranty on standard or rechargeable batteries (AA/AAA type).
Consumables or defects causing a negligible effect on operation or value of the equipment are not covered.
The warranty has to be proven by presentation of the original or copy of the purchase receipt, on which the date of
purchase and the unit-model are indicated.
12.2 Warranty handling
A faulty unit needs to be returned to a Topcom service centre including a valid purchase note and a filled in service
return card.
If the unit develops a fault during the warranty period, Topcom or its officially appointed service center will repair any
defects caused by material or manufacturing faults free of charge, by either repairing or exchanging the faulty units or
parts of the faulty units. In case of replacement, colour and model can be different from the original purchased unit.
The initial purchase date shall determine the start of the warranty period. The warranty period is not extended if the unit
is exchanged or repaired by Topcom or its appointed service centre.
12.3 Warranty exclusions
Damage or defects caused by incorrect treatment or operation and damage resulting from use of non-original parts or
accessories are not covered by the warranty.
The warranty does not cover damage caused by outside factors, such as lightning, water and fire, nor any damage
caused during transportation.
No warranty can be claimed if the serial number on the units has been changed, removed or rendered illegible.
Any warranty claims will be invalid if the unit has been repaired, altered or modified by the buyer.
This product is in compliance with the essential requirements and other
relevant provisions of the R&TTE directive 1999/5/EC.
