AUTOMOTIVE VIDEO RECORDER
OVERVIEW
TheUnidenCAM250isanultra-compactrecorderthatcanbesetup
tocontinuouslycapturehighqualityvideoeveninlowlightconditions.
Motiondetectiontriggersthecameratoinstantlybeginrecordingifthe
vehicleisbumpedorscraped.Thebuilt-inG-Sensorsystembegins
recordingimmediatelyifthereisachangeinmotion(i.e.,anaccident).
TheCAM250canevenrecordoutsidethevehicleforthedurationof
theinternalbattery’spower.

INSTALLATION AND TURNUP
ATTACHING THE WINDSHIELD MOUNT
1. Insertthewindshieldmountbrackethookintothebracketsloton
thetopoftheCAM250.
2. Afterinsertingthehook,slideitdownuntilitlocksinposition.
3. Pressthesuctioncupatagainstthewindshield.
4. Pushthesuctionlockupuntilitsnapsintoplaceandtightenthe
lockingcollartosecure.
5. Gentlypullonthemounttomakesureitissecure.
INSTALLING THE MICROSD CARD
A compatible microSD card (not supplied) is required to record
and store videos and photos.
TheunitcansupportmicroSDHCcards(HighCapacitySD)upto32GB
incapacity.UnidenrecommendsusingagoodqualitymicroSDHCcard
ofatleast4GBcapacityandminimumClass4speed.
InsertaformattedmicroSDcardgentlyintheslotonthesideoftheunit.
Toremovethecardfromtheslot,presstheedgeofthemicroSDcard
inwardsforittopopoutandthenpullitoutoftheslot.
POWERING UP THE CAM 250
1. ConnecttheDCcaradaptortothepowerconnector(USBport)
foundonthedevice.
2. ConnecttheotherendoftheDCcaradaptortothecar’scigarette
lighter.
3.
Whenconnectedtothecarcharger,theunitwillpoweronauto-
maticallyandstartrecordingwhenthecarisstarted.Whenthe
car’sengineisturnedoff,theunitwillautomaticallyturnoffina
fewseconds.
4. Atothertimes,pressthe buttontoturniton,orpressandhold
the buttontoturnitoff.
Only use the DC car adaptor that comes with your device. Any
other adaptor might damage the device.

Battery Operation
Althoughprimarilydesignedforin-caruse,theCAM250canoperate
fromitsbuilt-inbatteryforupto10minutes.
The power usage length depends on day/night recording and
resolution setting.
Theunitchargesthebatterywheneverpowerisdetectedthroughthe
USBport.Whentheunitisbeingcharged,theredLEDglows.Itwill
automaticallyturnoffwhentheunithasbeenchargedcompletely.The
unitwilltakeabout90minutestochargecompletely.TheBatteryStatus
icontellsyouhowfullthebatteryis.

OPERATING THE CAM 250
TheCAM250operatesinthreemodes:Recordmode,Photomode,and
Playbackmode.Thesemodesalsohavemenustohelpyoucongure
recordingandtakingphotos.PressM/ untilyouaccessthemodeyou
want.Aniconappearsintheupperleftcornerofthescreenforeach
mode.

RECORD MODE
Torecordvideo,verifythatavalidmicroSDcard(notsupplied)in
insertedinthemicroSDslot.
Inserting or removing the microSD card when the unit is recording
causes the device to shut down.

Recording
Whenconnectedtoacarcharger,theunitautomaticallygoesintoRe-
cordmodeandstartsrecording.The icondisplaysonthescreen
withaashingreddotbesideitindicatesrecordingisinprogress.
Iftheunitisnotrecording,pressOKtostartrecording.Aashingred
dotappearsnexttothe icon.Tostoprecording,pressOKandthe
reddotdisappears,indicatingthattherecordinghasstopped.
Save Current Recording
Youcansavethelethatiscurrentlyrecordingsothatitwillnotbe
overwrittenifspaceisneeded.Whilerecording,pressM/ ;the
iconappearsonthescreen.Thisindicatesthattherecordinghasbeen
lockedandwillnotbeoverwrittenbynewvideoclips.
PressM/ againtostoprecording.The icondisappearsfrom
thescreen.
Recording Mode Menu
You cannot access menus when the the unit is recording. To access
the Record menus, stop recording by pressing OK.
InRecord,PhotoorPlaybackmode,presstheMenukey( )once
toaccessthemenusettingsforthatparticularmode.Pressittwiceto
displaytheSettingsmenu.
TheSettingsmenuiscommontoallmodes.Seepage14.
Press▲and▼toscrollthroughthevarioussettingsandthenpress
OKtoselect.Press againtoexittheMenu.

choosetheoption‘Off’thentherecorderwillnot

cannottakeasnapshotofrecordedvideoplayingback.
Totakeasnapshot:
1. VerifythatavalidmicroSDcard(notsupplied)ininsertedinthe
microSDslot.
2. PressM/ toselectPhotomode; displaysintheupperleft
corner.

PressOK.Theunittakesasnapshotoflivevideo.

playsintheupperleftcornerofthescreen.
2. PressOKtoviewtherecordedle/snapshotor▲/▼toscroll
throughtherecordedles/snapshots.

ScrollupordownandthenpressOKtoselectanoptionforthesnap-
shot/videocurrentlydisplaying.
• Delete.Deletethecurrentledisplayedordeleteallles.
• Protect.Lock/unlockthecurrentledisplayedorlock/unlockallles.
SETTINGS MENU
Press twicetoaccesstheSettingsmenuinanymode.The
icondisplaysintheupperleftcorner.

IfyouconnecttheCAM250toaPC(usingthesuppliedUSBcable),
thePCprovidesthefollowing2options:

SelecttheMassStorageoptiontomanageandviewtheSDcardcon-
tentsonthePC.
1. WhentheunitisdetectedonthePCasanexternaldrive,select
toviewtheDCIMfolder.
2. ClickontheDCIMfoldertoopenandviewrecordings/images
arrangedinfoldersaccordingtothespecieddate.Thelocked/
protectedrecordingshavelenamesbeginningwith“SOS,”
thusenablingyoutoeasilydistinguishthemfromtherestofthe
recordings.
