Thismachinehasbeendesignedandbuilttogivemaxi-
mumperformance,economyandeaseofoperationunder
awidevarietyofcropsandconditions.
Priortodelivery,yourmachinewascarefullyinspected
bothatthefactoryandbyyourdealertoensurethatit
reachesyouinoptimumcondition.T omaintainthiscon-
ditionandensuretrouble-freeoperationitisimportantthat
routineservices,asspeciedinthismanual,arecarried
outattherecommendedintervals.
Beforeattemptingtodriveoroperateyourmachine,read
thismanualcarefully(especiallychaptercoveringthe
SafetyPrecautions)andkeepitinaconvenientplacefor
futurereference.
"Left"and"right"usedthroughoutthismanualaredeter-
minedfromtherear,facinginthedirectionoftravelofthe
machineduringoperation.

problemswithyourequipment.Sometimes,however,
misunderstandingcanoccur.Ifyourproblemhasnot
beenhandledtoyoursatisfaction,wesuggestcontacting
theownerorGeneralManagerofthedealership,ex-
plainingtheproblem,andrequestingassistance.When
additionalassistanceisneeded,yourdealerhasdirect
accesstoourbranchofce.
Improvementsandchanges
Thecompanyiscontinuallystrivingtoimproveitsprod-
ucts,andthereforereservestherighttomakeimprove-
mentsandchangeswhenitcomespracticalandpossible
todoso,withoutincurringanyobligationtomakechanges

Yourmachinehasbeendesignedtooperateinawide
varietyofcropsandconditions.NeverthelessAdditional
equipmentmay,incertaincases,berequiredtoimprove
themachineperformance.Alistofthisadditionalequip-
mentisgiveninthe"Accessories"sectioninthismanual.
Servicepartsandaccessories
Genuineservicepartsandaccessorieshavebeenspe-
ciallydesignedforyourmachine.
Wewouldliketopointoutthat"non-genuine"partsand
accessorieshavenotbeenexaminedandreleasedbythe
Company.Theinstallationand/oruseofsuchproducts
couldthushavenegativeeffectsuponthedesignchar-
acteristicsofyourmachineandtherebyaffectitssafety.
TheCompanyisnotliableforanydamagecausedbythe
useof"non-genuine"partsandaccessories.
Relyonyourauthoriseddealertosupplyyouwithgenuine
NewHollandpartsonly.Thesepartsarecoveredbyour
warrantyandwillgiveyouthebestperformance.
Whenorderingserviceparts,alwaysquotethemodeland
serialnumberaswellastheyearofmanufacturewhichis
printedonthemanufacturer'sidenticationplate.
Warranty
Yourmachineiswarrantedaccordingtolegalrightsin
yourcountryandthecontractualagreementwiththesell-
ingdealer.Nowarrantyshall,however,applyifthema-
chinehasnotbeenused,adjustedandmaintainedac-
cordingtotheinstructionsgiveninthisOperator'sMan-
ual.
Itisprohibitedtocarryoutanymodicationstothema-
chineunlessspecicallyauthorised,inwriting,byaNew
Hollandrepresentative.
Lubricants
Yourdealersellsaselectionofspeciallyformulatedlubri-
cantsbasedonownengineeringspecications.
Recommendedlubricantsforyourmachinearelistedin
theMaintenancesectionofthismanual.
Cleaningyourmachine
Yourmachineisastate-of-the-artmachinewithsophisti-
cated,electroniccontrols.Eventhougheveryprecaution
hasbeentakentosafeguardelectroniccomponentsand
connections,thepressuregeneratedbysomepressure
washersissuchthatcompleteprotectionagainstwater
ingresscannotbeguaranteed.
Whenusingahighpressurewasher,donotstandtoo
closetothemachineandavoiddirectingthejetatelec-
troniccomponents,electricalconnections,breathers,
seals,llercaps,etc.
Importantenvironmentalconsiderations
Soil,airandwaterarevitalfactorsofagricultureandof
lifeingeneral.Wherelegislationdoesnotyetrulethe
treatmentofsomeofthesubstances,whicharerequired
byadvancedtechnology,commonsenseshouldgovern
theuseandthedisposaloftheproductsofachemical
andapetrochemicalnature.
Thefollowingarerecommendations,whichmaybeofas-
sistance:
Becomeacquaintedwithandrespecttherelativelegisla-
tionapplicableinyourcountry.
Wherenolegislationexists,obtaininformationfromsup-
pliersofoils,fuels,antifreeze,cleaningagents,etc.for
theireffectonmanandnatureandforsafewaysofstor-
age,usageanddisposal.Agriculturalconsultantswill,in
manycases,beabletohelpyouaswell.
Helpfulhints
Avoidllingfueltanksusingjerrycansorinappropriate
pressurizedfueldeliverysystemswhichmaycausecon-
siderablespillage.
Ingeneral,avoidskincontactwithalloils,acids,solvents,
etc.Mostofthemcontainsubstanceswhichcanbeharm-
fultoyourhealth.
Usebiodegradableoilsforchainlubricationwhereoils
cannotberecuperated.Inmanycountriesrapeseedoils
orotheragriculturallubricantshavebecomeavailable.
Modernoilscontainadditives.Donotburncontaminated
fuelsand/orwasteoilsinordinaryheatingsystems.
Avoidspillagewhendrainingoffusedenginecoolantmix-
tures,engine,gearboxandhydraulicoils,brakeuids,
etc.Donotmixdrainedbrakeuids,fuelsorcoolantmix-
tureswithlubricants.Storethemsafelyuntiltheycanbe
disposedofinaproperwaytocomplywithlocallegisla-
tionandavailableresources.Theyshouldnotbeallowed
togetintothesoilbutshouldbecollectedanddisposed
ofsafely.
Donotopentheair-conditioningsystemyourself;itcon-
tainsgases,whichshouldnotbereleasedintotheair.
Yourdealerhasaspecialextractorforthispurposeand
willhavetodotherechargingofthesystemanyway.
Repairanyleaksordefectsintheenginecoolingorthe
hydraulicsystemimmediately.
Donotincreasethepressureinapressurizedcircuitas
thismayleadtoburstingofthecomponents.
Protecthosesduringweldingaspenetratingweldsplatter
mayburnaholeorweakenthem,causingthelossofoils,
coolant,etc.

Batteryrecycling
Batteriesandelectricaccumulatorscontainvariouscom-
ponentswhichcandamagetheenvironmentiftheyare
notproperlyrecycledafterusage.NewHollandstrongly
recommendsthatyoureturnallusedbatteries(starting
batteriesandsmall"dry"batterieswhichmaybeusedin
electricorelectronicsystems)toyourNewHollandDealer
whowillensureproperdisposalorrecycling.Incertain
countriesthisisalegalrequirement.

gateishookedupbythelatch(12)attachedtothemain
frameandthedensityspring(10)attachedtothetailgate.
Thetailgatewillslightlyopen,therebypullingonboththe
leftandrightdensitysprings(10).
Themorethetailgatewillopen,themorethedensity
springswillbepulledandthehigherthedensityofthe
balewillbe.
Thedensityindicatormechanism(23)willmeasurethe
amountoftailgateopeningandislinkedtomechanical
densityindicatorsleftandrightinfrontofthemachine.
Theoperatorhastowatchtheseindicatorstoseewhen
thedesireddensityisreached.
Asthereisadensityindicatormechanismonbothsides,
theyalsoassisttheoperatorinllingthebaleevenlyon
bothsides.
Atthismoment,thetailgateisslightlyopenbutstillheld
inthelatch(12)onbothsidesofthemachine.

Thebalehasreachedthedesireddensity.
Thetwinewrapcycleisstartedmanually,electrically
optionalormechanically.Duringstandstill,thebaleis
wrappedwithtwine.
Atthewrapcyclestart,thetwinesareejectedinthepickup
areaandpickedupbetweentherotatingbaleandtheoor
roll.Twinespreaderswillmovebackandforthtoplacethe
differentwrapsonthebale.Attheendofthewrapcycle,
thetwinesarecutandthewrappercomponentsareinthe
homepositionagain.Thebaleisreadytobeejected.

Thebaleiswrappedandreadytobeejected.Theopera-
toropensthetailgatebymeansofthetractorhydraulics.
Duringbaleejection,thePTO.remainsengaged.
Theextendingtailgatecylinder(8)rstreleasesthetail-
gatelatch(12)thenliftsthetailgate.Thedensityindica-
torsshootupto"fullbaledensity"asthetailgateopens.
Thebalerollsoutofthebalechamber,overthebaleejec-
tor(14)optional,clearofthebaler.Withthebaleejector,
thebalecanbeejectedandthetailgateclosedwithout
movingthebalerbackandforthonatground.
Onmachineswithoutbaleejector,theoperatorrsthas
toreverseafewmetersbeforeejectingthebale.Then,
afterthebalehasbeenejected,hehastomoveforward
againbeforeclosingthetailgate.
Theoperatorclosesthetailgatebymeansofthetractor
hydraulics,thetailgatecomesdownbyitsownweight.
Whenthetailgateisclosed,thelatchspring(4)reengages
thelatch(12).Thedensityindicatorsdropdownto0den-
sitytoconrmthetailgateisclosedandlatched.
Theoperatormustholdandlockthetractorvalvelever
inthe"lower"position:

orthe"oat"positionincaseofadoubleacting
valve,
