1. Before Using the Product
This chapter provides information you should know before using the product.
About the Unit
This product is a compact-sized industrial switching HUB [40(W) x 60(D) x 90(H)mm] with
8 ports for IEEE802.3u(100BASE-TX) / IEEE802.3(10BASE-T) compliant.
In addition, the Auto MDI/MDI-X features automatic negotiation.
An ideal product for the place where quietness is required as it contains no fan. Moreover, with metal
that is excellent in heat dissipation, the product can operate in the temperature between -20 and +
60°C. There are two supplies of power, and function that prevents power from connecting in reverse.
Please read this manual carefully so that you can build a system by connecting the Switching Hub Unit
to external devices.
Features
- With its compact size, it corresponds to 100BASE-TX in eight all ports.
This product contains eight ports for IEEE802.3u (100BASE-TX)/ IEEE802.3(10BASE-T) in the
compact size(40(W) x 60(D) x 90(H) mm).
- 2-way power connector and reverse wiring protection within
The product supports 2-way power supply. Even when one of the power systems fails during the
operation, the product continues functioning.
Our safety design supports the product to function even when wires are connected in reverse.
- Adaptable to a wide range of temperature between -20 and +60°C
The product is capable of operating in the temperature between -20 and + 60°C. It can be installed
in the various environments.
- For Auto MDI/MDI-X feature, auto-negotiation feature
The Auto MDI/MDI-X feature automatically determines straight or crossover cable, avoiding
wiring trouble due to wiring mistake.
Moreover, auto-recognition function of communication rates (10/100Mbps) and communication
methods (half/full duplex) by the auto-negotiation feature.
- Installation on DIN rail is possible.
As the product is mounted on the 35mm DIN rail, removing and replacing are easy as well.
- Compatible with 12 - 24VDC wide range power
It is compatible with 12 - 24VDC wide range power and can be used in various power
environment. In addition, An FG terminal is equipped in the power connector.

Limited One-Year Warranty
CONTEC products are warranted by CONTEC CO., LTD. to be free from defects in material and
workmanship for up to one year from the date of purchase by the original purchaser.
Repair will be free of charge only when this product is returned freight prepaid with a copy of the
original invoice and a Return Merchandise Authorization to the distributor or the CONTEC group
office, from which it was purchased.
This warranty is not applicable for scratches or normal wear, but only for the electronic circuitry and
original products. The warranty is not applicable if the device has been tampered with or damaged
through abuse, mistreatment, neglect, or unreasonable use, or if the original invoice is not included, in
which case repairs will be considered beyond the warranty policy.
How to Obtain Service
For replacement or repair, return the device freight prepaid, with a copy of the original invoice. Please
obtain a Return Merchandise Authorization Number (RMA) from the CONTEC group office where
you purchased before returning any product.
* No product will be accepted by CONTEC group without the RMA number.
Liability
The obligation of the warrantor is solely to repair or replace the product. In no event will the
warrantor be liable for any incidental or consequential damages due to such defect or consequences
that arise from inexperienced usage, misuse, or malfunction of this device.

Handling Precautions
- Do not use the product where it is exposed to flammable or corrosive gas. Doing so may result in
an explosion, fire, electric shock, or failure.
- Do not allow this device to come into contact with foreign substances (metal particles, flammable
substances, liquids, etc.) This can cause fire or electrical shock.
- Do not place this device in an unstable location or use incomplete mountings. This may cause the
device to fall.
- Be sure to connect the product to the stipulated power supply voltage. Connecting to a different
voltage might cause a fire or electrical shock.
- This product is not intended for use in aerospace, space, nuclear power, medical equipment, or
other applications that require a very high level of reliability. Do not use the product in such
applications.
- If using this product in applications where safety is critical such as in railways, automotive, or
disaster prevention or security systems, please contact your retailer.
- The link speed value (e.g., 100Mbps) of the transmission rate used in the Manual (this document) is
the theoretical maximum value of the wired LAN standard and do not indicate the actual data
transmission speed.
- The frame loss could occur depending on the connection destination or installed environment.

- This product contains precision electronic elements and must not be used in locations subject to
physical shock or strong vibration. Otherwise, the board may malfunction, overheat, or cause a
failure.
- Avoid transporting this products state to shock or vibration that exceeds range of specification.
- Do not use or store the equipment in a hot or cold place, or in a place that is subject to severe
temperature changes. They may cause the malfunction, heat generation, fault, or damage.
- Do not use or store the equipment in a place subject to direct sunlight or near a heating device,
such as a stove. And do not use or store the product near equipment generating a strong magnetic
field or radio waves. They may cause the malfunction, heat generation, fault, or damage.
- Do not use or store this product in the presence of chemicals.
- Use the product in the specified operating condition (temperature, humidity, vibration and shock)
- Please adjust the air current to prevent the reject heat from the product staying around the product.
- Do not use this product in extremely humid or dusty locations. It is extremely dangerous to use
this product with its interior penetrated by water or any other fluid or conductive dust. If this
product must be used in such an environment, install it on a dust-proof control panel, for example.
- If you noticing abnormal odor or overheat, please unplug the power cord immediately.
- When you find faults or abnormalities (bad smell or excessive heat), pull the power cord off, then
contact the shop you bought the product or your retailer.
- When using one power supply input, do not touch the unconnected power supply connector. Doing
so may result in electric shock or failure.
- When placing importance on line-noise resistance, use shielded cables to connect to periphery
devices.
- The product could be very hot in the operation. Please do not touch by hands or body. It may
cause burns.
- To avoid electric shock, please do not touch the system with a wet hand.
- Do not open the unit casing. CONTEC will disclaim any responsibility for equipment whose casing
has been opened.
- Do not modify the unit. CONTEC will bear no responsibility for any problems, etc., resulting from
modifying this unit.
- To clean this product, gently wipe it with a soft cloth soaked with water or a neutral detergent. Do
not use benzene, a thinner, or other volatile solvents as they can cause the coating to discolor or
peel off.
- When connecting cables, first check the shapes of connectors (such as LAN connectors), and then
insert them in the correct orientation. After they are connected, do not put too much load on the
connected part. Doing so may result in poor contact or damage to this product and the connected
part.
- Do not touch terminals of the product with your hands in operation. Otherwise, this product may
malfunction, overheat, or cause a failure.
- The specification of this product is subject to change without notice for enhancement and quality
improvement. Even when using this product continuously, be sure to read the manual of
CONTEC’s website and understand the contents.
- If you move or transfer the product, make sure to attach the Setup Guide (this document).

Inspect the product periodically to use it safely.
Neither dust nor alien substance should not be attached to the connector’s opening.
Storage
When storing this product, keep it in its original packing form.
(1) Put the unit in the storage bag.
(2) Wrap it in the packing material, then put it in the box.
(3)
Store the package at room temperature at a place free from direct sunlight, moisture, shock,
vibration, magnetism, and static electricity.
Disposal
When disposing of the product, follow the disposal procedures stipulated under the relevant laws and
municipal ordinances.

Mounting on or removing from DIN rail
Before installing the product, you need to unlock the fixed hooks of the product.
How to unlock fixed hooks -1
(1)
Stick a slotted screwdriver (the point should be smaller than 4.5mm) into a hole.

By using the screwdriver as leverage, move it upward in the direction of the arrow to unlock.

How to unlock fixed hooks -2
If your slotted screwdriver is not suitable for the hole.
(1)
Place the slotted screwdriver (the point should be smaller than 8mm) as shown in the figure.

Rotate the screwdriver 90-degree in either direction.

How to mount the product
(1) Pull up/down the fixed hooks at the top/bottom to unlock.

(2) Hang the product on the upper part of the DIN rail, and press it to the lower side of the DIN rail.

Push up/down the hooks to lock.

Confirm whether the product has been securely mounted onto the DIN rail.

How to remove the product
Take off LAN cables and power cables connected to the product before removing from the DIN
rail.

Pull up/down the fixed hook at the top/bottom to unlock.

Pull the lower part of the product toward you and lift it up to remove.

Installation Conditions
Even within the temperature specification range, make sure the heat in the product can let off
adequately in the case of high temperature environment application.

Spacing between the system unit and any surrounding objects
Do not locate the module in a fully enclosed housing.
DIN rail mounted
Secure a distance of at least 50mm between the top/bottom of the main product and any surrounding
objects and also a distance of at least 50mm between each side of the product and any surrounding
objects (5.8mm for the product overview level side).

About of Power Supply
For power supply, use the power supply that rises within an input voltage range of 11.6VDC or higher
within 50msec. The power supply that cannot meet this requirement may cause device failure or
accident.
