Emulex OneCapture for OneConnect Adapters User Guide Updates
2.1 Upgrading the Firmware to R11.4 on OCe14000 Series Adapters
If the system personality is set to NIC+RoCE, a RoCE profile selection menu is displayed if the current adapter firmware is
R11.2 or earlier. The RoCE profile can be set to either RoCE-1 or RoCE-2. In R11.4 firmware versions, this option has been
deprecated. The RoCE profile is set to RoCE-2 by default by the adapter firmware if the adapter is set to the NIC+RoCE
personality with R11.4 firmware installed. When the adapter firmware is upgraded from older versions to R11.4 versions with
the adapter personality set to NIC+RoCE and RoCE profile set to RoCE-1, the adapter firmware automatically changes the
RoCE profile to RoCE-2. If the R11.2 firmware update tool is used with an adapter with firmware R11.4, RoCE-1 and RoCE-
2 options continue to display, but selecting RoCE-1 results an error.
2.2 Boot Updates
This section discusses updates to the OneConnect boot application.
2.2.1 iBFT Support
iBFT is no longer supported in the UEFI.

OneConnect Errata Documentation Updates
2.2.2 iSCSI Boot
An iSCSI boot from a disk with a 4k logical sector size is now supported by iSCSI UEFI.
2.2.3 Enabling RoCE on OCe14000 Series Adapters
To enable RoCE on OCe14000 series adapters:
NOTE: RoCE is available as a Technical Preview only. Do not use RoCE in a production environment.
NOTE: The NIC+RoCE personality is available only on Emulex OCe14000-series adapters running Windows or Linux with
both UMC and SR-IOV disabled.
2.2.4 Selecting the NIC+RoCE Personality from the Adapter Menus
To select the NIC+RoCE personality from the adapter menus:
1. Access the Personality Selection dialog from the adapter menus.
2. Select NIC+RoCE and press Enter.
3. Select Save and press Enter.
NOTE: Additional configuration changes can be made after changing the Personality setting; however, a reboot is required
before the new Personality setting takes effect.
2.2.4.1 Selecting the NIC+RoCE Personality from the PXESelect Utility
After the PXE boot BIOS is initialized, you can use the PXESelect utility to set up a PXE bootable network by configuring
the adapters.
Broadcom OneConnect-OCE-ER114
6
OneConnect Errata Documentation Updates
1. Access the Controller Configuration menu from the PXESelect utility.
2. Set the Personality to NIC+RoCE.
3. Press F7 to Save.
2.2.4.2 Configuring RoCE on OCe14000 Adapters Using OneCommand Manager
This section discusses RoCE configuration changes due to the R11.4 firmware revision.
2.2.4.3 Configuring RoCE as a Single Personality
To configure RoCE as a single personality:
1. From the discovery-tree, select the OCe14000-series adapter to configure.
2. From the Adapter Configuration tab, select Single Personality (all ports).
Broadcom OneConnect-OCE-ER114
7
OneConnect Errata Documentation Updates
3. Select the personality from the Personality pull-down menu.
4. After rebooting a NIC+RoCE configuration, the Current Configuration field displays NIC+RoCE along with the
description of the selected RoCE profile.
NOTE: R11.2 and prior versions of the OCM show RoCE-1 and RoCE-2 profiles as options which are no longer provided
in the R11.4 firmware revision.
5. Click Apply.
A message displays with the profiles activation requirements.
NOTE: The NIC+RoCE personality is available only on Emulex OCe14000-series adapters running Windows or Linux with
both UMC and SR-IOV disabled.
NOTE: The NIC+RoCE personality implies that all the enabled functions provide RoCE functionality.
2.2.4.4 Configuring RoCE in a Custom View
To configure RoCE in a custom view:
1. From the discovery-tree, select the OCe14000-series adapter to configure.
2. Select Configure NIC+RoCE.
Only the first function of each port is available.
3. Select NIC+RoCE or NIC to run on each port.
Broadcom OneConnect-OCE-ER114
8
OneConnect Errata Documentation Updates
NOTE: Storage functions cannot be configured if any of the ports on the adapter are configured to run NIC+RoCE.
NOTE: R11.2 and prior versions of the OCM show RoCE-1 and RoCE-2 profiles as options which are no longer provided
in the R11.4 firmware revision.
2.2.4.5 Configuring RoCE for OCe14000 Series Using the CLI

2.2.5 Resolved Issues
The following boot driver issues have been resolved in this release:
Changing the MPIO and boot support values together changes only the MPIO value.
Wait for at least four seconds when Port 0 is enabled/disabled to allow the firmware to report the correct link state.
2.3 VMware Driver Updates
This section discusses updates to the OneConnect VMware.
2.3.1 Transient Parity Error Support
Added support for iSCSI boot from SAN configuration.
2.3.2 NparEP Interface
Starting a virtual machine after attaching an NparEP interface as a pass-through results in an operating system error (often
referred to as a PSOD). The computer may freeze and require restarting to make it operational.
Do not use an NparEP function as a physical function pass-through.
2.3.3 Disabling msix
Disabling msix for an adapter in mixed mode may result in an operating system error (often referred to as a PSOD). The
computer may freeze and require restarting to make it operational.
2.3.4 Resolved Issues
The following VMware driver issues have been resolved in this release:
Unable to discover 256 targets on a SKH adapter.

RoCE.
Workaround
Unload the ocrdma driver and then unload the NIC driver.
