INSTRUCTION MANUAL
This manual describes necessary points of caution when
you use this product, including installation, connection and
basic maintenance procedures.

Reinforcedinsulation(signalinputoroutputtopowerin-
put: 300V) andbasic insulation (signal input to output:
300V)aremaintained.(NoI/OisolationforRB).
Prior to installation, check that the insulation class of this
unit satisfies the system requirements.
•Altitudeupto2000meters.
•Theequipmentmustbemountedinsideapanel.
•The equipment mustbe installed such that appropriate
clearance and creepage distances are maintained to con-
formtoCE/ULrequirements.Failuretoobservethesere-
quirementsmayinvalidatetheCE/ULconformance.
CONFORMITY WITH EU EMC DIRECTIVE
•InsertnoiseltersforthesignalI/Oandthepowersource
connected to the unit. TDK Model ZCAT 3035-1330 or
equivalent is recommended.
•The actualinstallation environments such as panelcon-
figurations, connected devices, connected wires, may affect
the protection level of this unit when it is integrated in
apanelsystem.TheusermayhavetoreviewtheCEre-
quirements in regard to the whole system and employ ad-
ditionalprotectivemeasurestoensuretheCEconformity.

UNPLUGGING THE UNIT
•Beforeyouremovetheunitfromitsbasesocketormount
it, turn off the power supply and input signal for safety.
ENVIRONMENT
•Indooruse.
•Whenheavydustormetalparticlesarepresentintheair,
install the unit inside proper housing with sufficient ven-
tilation.
•Donotinstalltheunitwhereitissubjectedtocontinuous
vibration.Donotapplyphysicalimpacttotheunit.
•Environmentaltemperaturemust bewithin -5 to+60°C
(23to140°F)withrelativehumiditywithin30to90%RH
in order to ensure adequate life span and operation.
WIRING
•Do not install cables close to noise sources (relay drive
cable, high frequency line, etc.).
•Do not bind these cables together with those in which
noisesarepresent.Donotinstalltheminthesameduct.

plied,however,awarmupfor10minutesisrequiredfor
satisfying complete performance described in the data
sheet.

Position your finger on the hook at the top of the front cover
and pull.

INSTALLATION
Detachtheyellowclampslocatedatthetopandbottomof
the unit for separating the body from the base socket.
DIN RAIL MOUNTING
Set the base socket such that its
DINrailadaptorisatthebottom.
Position the upper hook at the
rear side of base socket on the
DINrailandpushinthelower.
When removing the socket,
pushdowntheDINrailadap-
tor utilizing a screwdriver (–)
and pull.
WALL MOUNTING
Refertothedrawingsbelow.

CHECKING
1) Terminalwiring:Checkthatallcablesarecorrectlycon-
nected according to the connection diagram.
2) Powerinputvoltage:Checkvoltageacrosstheterminal
7–8withamultimeter.
3) Input: Check voltage across the terminal 3 – 4 with a
sensitive voltmeter.
(With20°Cor68°F,approx.220mVwithPt100,approx.
110mVwithPt50Ω.)
IfRTDwiresarebroken,theoutputgoesover100%(be-
low0% withdownscale protection)due to burnoutpro-
tection function. Check leadwires in such a case.
4) Output: Check that the load resistance meets the de-
scribed specifications.
ADJUSTMENT PROCEDURE
This unit is calibrated at the factory to meet the ordered
specifications, therefore you usually do not need any cali-
bration.
Theoutputsignalcanbenelyadjustedtomatchittoare-
ceiving instrument, or to compensate input wire resistance
whentheunitiscombinedwithazenorbarrier.Followthe
regularcalibrationprocedureexplainedbelow:
HOW TO CALIBRATE THE OUTPUT SIGNAL
Useasignalsourceandmeasuringinstrumentsofsufcient
accuracy level. Turn the power supply on and warm up for
morethan10minutes.
1) ZERO:Apply0%inputandadjustoutputto0%.
2) SPAN:Apply100%inputandadjustoutputto100%.
3) CheckZEROadjustmentagainwith0%input.
4) When ZERO value is changed, repeat the above proce-
dure1)–3).
MAINTENANCE
Regularcalibrationprocedureisexplainedbelow:
CALIBRATION
Warmuptheunitforatleast10minutes.Apply0%,25%,
50%, 75%and 100%input signal. Check thatthe output
signal for the respective input signal remains within the
range of accuracy described in the datasheet.When the
output is out of tolerance, recalibrate the unit according to
theADJUSTMENTPROCEDURE”explainedearlier.
LIGHTNING SURGE PROTECTION
In order to protect the unit from lightning surges entering
through signal and power supply cables, use of appropriate
lightning surge protectors are recommended. Please con-
tact M-System.
