Set-up
Location
CAUTION!
Risk of machine
damage!
The location where the coffee machine is set up must meet the conditions specified be-
low. If these conditions are not ensured, the coffee machine may suffer damage.
It is imperative that the following conditions be met:
The footprint must be stable and level such that it cannot deform under the weight of the
coffee machine.
Do not set up on hot surfaces or near to sources of heat.
Set up the coffee machine such that it can be monitored by trained staff at any time.
Route the necessary supply connections to within 1 m of the machine location according
to the on-site installation plans.
Maintain the following clearances for maintenance work and operation:
Allow enough space above the machine to pour in coffee beans.
Leave min. 15 cm clearance between the rear of the machine and the wall (air circula-
tion).
Comply with all the locally applicable kitchen regulations.
Ambient conditions
CAUTION!
Risk of machine
damage!
The location where the coffee machine is set up must meet the ambient conditions
specified below. If these conditions are not ensured, the coffee machine may suffer
damage.
It is imperative that the following conditions be met:
Ambient temperature of +10°C to +40°C (50°F to 104°F)
Relative humidity of max. 80% RH
The coffee machine is designed for indoor use only. Do not use in the open and never ex-
pose to the elements (rain, snow, frost)!
If the coffee machine has been exposed to sub-zero temperatures:
Contact the Customer Service team before commissioning.
Power supply
Conditions
The equipment must be electrically connected in accordance with the regulations of the re-
spective country. The voltage specified on the serial plate must match the mains voltage at the
installation location.
The machine must be installed in accordance with the applicable federal, state and local elec-
trical and sanitary regulations. This includes an adequate non-return mechanism.

DANGER!
Risk of electrocution!
Risk of electrocution!
It is imperative that the following points be complied with:
The phase must be fused at the A value specified on the serial plate.
It must be possible to disconnect the machine from the mains power supply at all poles.
Never operate a machine with a damaged power cord. Have a defective power cord or plug
replaced immediately by a qualified service technician.
Schaerer AG advises against using an extension cable. If an extension cable must be used
nonetheless (minimum cross-section: 1.5 mm²), please comply with the manufacturer’s ca-
ble data (operating instructions) and with the locally applicable regulations.
Route the power cord such that it does not pose a tripping hazard. Do not pull the cord over
corners or sharp edges, pinch it between objects or allow it to hang loosely in the open.
Also, do not position the cord on top of hot objects and protect it from oil and aggressive
cleaning products.
Never lift or pull the machine by the power cord. Never pull the plug out of the socket by
the power cord. Never touch the power cord or plug with wet hands. Never insert a wet plug
into a socket.
Mains cable
CAUTION!
User at risk!
Use of a defective or non-original power cable results in the risk of electric shock and
fire.
Use the original power cable.
The original power cable for your country can be obtained from your service partner.
Power cables that are plugged in on both sides can be replaced by the customer.
Permanently connected power cables must be replaced by a service technician.

Water connection / drain
Conditions
CAUTION!
Risk of machine
damage!
The machine can suffer damage due to poor-quality material and incorrect water val-
ues.
It is imperative that the following points be complied with:
The water must be free of contaminants and the chlorine content may not exceed 100 mg
per litre.
Do not connect the machine to pure osmosis water or other aggressive types of water.
The carbonate hardness must not exceed 5 – 6°dKH(German carbonate hardness) or 8.9
– 10.7 °fKH(French carbonate hardness) and the total hardness value must always be
greater than the carbonate hardness.
The minimum carbonate hardness is 5 °dKHor 8.9 °fKH. The pH value must be between
6.5 – 7.
Always use the new hose set (fresh water / waste water hose) provided with the machine.
The water supply must be connected in accordance with the applicable requirements and the
regulations of the respective country. If the machine is connected to a newly installed water
pipe, the pipe and infeed hose must be rinsed well to ensure that no dirt gets into the machine.
The coffee machine must be connected to an installed drinking water pipe with a shut-off valve.
Installation takes place via the installed pressure hose and the 3/8" threaded screw connection
on the pressure reducer, which is mounted on the water tap (set to 0.3 MPa (3 bar)).
If the machine is connected to a water drain, the temperature-stable drain hose provided must
be connected to the drip tray and the siphon. It must be firmly attached to the drain and laid at
an angle (so the water can flow away).

Installation
Unpacking the machine
Unpack the machine.
Check the remaining package contents for any accessories supplied.
Remove the accessories supplied from the grounds container and water tank.
Keep the original packaging in case the equipment needs to be sent back.
Power supply connection
Option 1: SCP to 3 kW
Insert the mains cable coupling into the lower back of the machine.
Plug the mains plug into the installation site power socket.
The machine is ready to be switched on.
Option 2: SCP with 6 kW
The machine is equipped with a permanent cable connection at the factory. At the installation
side, the machine is connected to the power supply by means of a country-specific mains plug
or an upstream main switch.
Insert the mains plug into the installation site socket or switch on the upstream main switch.
The machine is switched on.
The main screen appears and the machine begins to heat up.
The machine is ready for use as soon as the required temperature is reached.
Automatic commissioning programme
Read the "Set-up" and "Power supply" chapters carefully before commencing any installation
work.
When the machine is switched on for the first time, a display-guided adjustment of the machine
configurations takes place automatically.
The commissioning programme automatically starts the first time the machine is switched on.
It explains all the aspects of installation.
See the chapter entitled "Operation" – "Switching on" for a description of how to switch on the
coffee machine.
