BEFORE USING THE FIRST TIME
Carefully unpack your rice cooker, discard all packaging, and clean
it according to the instructions outlined in the “CLEANING AND
CARE” section of the manual. Dry all parts thoroughly afterwards.
OPERATION
Cooking rice:
1. Using the measuring cup provided, measure out the desired
amount of rice. One full, level measuring cup of uncooked rice
will yield 2 measuring cups of cooked rice.
2. Rinse the uncooked rice in a separate container until the water
drains relatively clear.
Note: For softer rice, allow the rice to soak for 10-20 minutes prior to
cooking.
3. Place the rinsed rice in the inner pot.
4. Using the measuring cup provided or the water measurement
lines located inside the inner pot, add the appropriate amount of
water. See the “Rice/Water Measurement Table” below for
suggested rice/water ratios.
5. Making sure that the exterior of the inner pot is clean and dry;
place the inner pot into the rice cooker. Position the lid securely
onto the rice cooker and plug the power cord into a wall outlet.
6. To begin cooking, press the “On/Off” button, then press the
“White Rice” or “Brown Rice” button, depending upon the type
of rice being cooked. The cooking mode indicator lights will
illuminate. Once cooking is complete, the rice cooker will beep 3
times, and then automatically switch to “Keep Warm” mode.
Note: If you wish to cancel your cooking selection, press the
"ON/OFF" button and reset by pressing the appropriate cooking
button.
7. After cooking, remove the lid and use the rice paddle to stir the
rice. This will release the excess moisture and give the rice a
fluffier texture. Then, replace the lid and allow the unit to remain
on “Keep Warmmode for 5-10 minutes. This will ensure optimal
rice texture and moisture level.

Sauté function:
The Sauté function is excellent for stir-frying vegetables and browning
meat.
1. Add the ingredients to be sautéed inside the inner pot.
2. Press the “On/Off” button and then the “Sauté” button to
preheat the rice cooker. The “On” and “Sauté” indicator lights will

4. Turn off the rice cooker by pressing the “On/Off” button.
5. Using oven mitts, remove the sautéed food from the rice cooker,
using caution as it will be extremely hot.
Notes:
Brown rice requires a much longer cooking cycle than other rice
varieties due to the extra bran layers on the grains. The “Brown
Rice” function on this rice cooker allows extra time and adjusted
heat settings in order to cook the rice properly.
To avoid a loss of steam and longer cooking times, do not open
the lid at any point during the cooking process.
A measuring cup of rice is not equivalent to a US cup of rice.

CAUTION!
Do not use the provided rice paddle to sauté. It is not intended to
be used in contact with hot surfaces. Use a long-handled
wooden spoon to stir food while sautéing.
It is important to turn off the rice cooker after sautéing, as the rice
cooker will not turn off on its own, or switch to keep warm mode.
Steaming Food:
1. Add the desired amount of water into the inner pot (use the table
below for reference)
2. Place the food to be steamed into the steam tray.
3. Place the steam tray inside the rice cooker at the top of the inner
pot. Place the lid securely onto the inner pot.
4. Press the “On/Off” button and then the “Steam button. The 2
cooking mode light indicators will illuminate.
5. Once the suggested amount of time for the recipe has elapsed,
using oven mitts, remove the lid with caution as the escaping
steam will be very hot. Check the food for doneness.
6. Remove the food immediately once cooked. Leaving it in the
rice cooker may cause it to overcook.
7. Press the “On/Off” button to turn off the rice cooker.
Note: Open the lid only when necessary.

To Steam Food and Cook Rice Simultaneously:
One of the most convenient features of the rice cooker is its ability to
cook rice and steam food simultaneously. This feature is ideal for
creating delicious, all-in-one meals.
1. Place the desired amount of rice and appropriate amount of
water into the inner pot.
2. Place the inner pot into the unit and start cooking the rice first,
using the “White rice” or “Brown rice” function (use the table
above to estimate the total cooking time).
3. Refer to the steaming guide for vegetables or meats for hints and
approximate steaming times. It is best to insert the food to be
steamed toward the end of the rice cooking cycle so that your
meal is fresh and warm all at once.
4. Place your choice of vegetables or meat into the steam tray. Lift
the lid, using caution as steam escaping will be extremely hot,
and, using oven mitts, place the steam tray into the rice cooker.
5. Replace the lid and allow the cooker to resume cooking.
6. Once the food has been steamed for the appropriate time,
remove the lid. Use caution when removing the lid as steam
escaping will be extremely hot. Using oven mitts, remove the
inner pot and check the food to make sure that it has been
cooked thoroughly. Exercise extreme caution when removing the
steam tray as it will also be hot!
7. If the rice has not finished cooking, replace the lid of the rice
cooker and allow it to continue to cook until done. Once the rice
is cooked, the rice cooker will beep 3 times and automatically
switch to “Keep Warm” mode.
8. Press the ON/OFF button to turn off the rice cooker. If the ON/OFF
button is not pressed, the rice cooker will remain in “Keep Warm”
mode. It is not recommended to leave rice in the cooker on
“Keep Warm” mode for more than 12 hours.
NOTE: Do note attempt to cook more than 4 cups of uncooked rice
if steaming and using the rice cooker simultaneously. The steam
tray will not fit!
NOTE: You can steam food at any point during the rice cooking
cycle. It is recommended that you steam during the end of the
cycle so that steamed foods do not grow cold or become soggy
before the rice is ready.

CLEANING AND CARE
Always press the “On/Off” button to shut the rice cooker off.
Unplug the appliance and wait for it to cool down before
cleaning it.
Remove the lid and take the inner pot out using the handles.
Wash them in hot, soapy water together with the spatula and the
measuring cup. You can immerse them in water, but never use
scouring pads or abrasive cleansers and materials to clean them.
Rinse thoroughly and then pat them dry with a soft cloth.
Clean the housing of the cooker with a clean, damp cloth.
Never clean any part of the cooker with abrasive cleansers or
materials. Use a damp cloth or sponge with water and mild dish
detergent. Do not submerge any part of cooker in water. Wash
only the inner pot and the lid in or under water.
IMPORTANT! The underside of the inner pot needs to be cleaned
after each use!
To clean the heating plate and thermo-control plate, use steel
wool to polish or remove any residue. Then wipe with a damp
cloth. Allow to dry completely before re-using. You must keep
the heating plate and thermo-control plate free from any foreign
objects; otherwise the cooker will not operate properly.
Never immerse the appliance in water or any other liquid. Never
fill the inner pot with water to clean it when it is still in the cooker!
RETRACTABLE POWER CORD: The rice cooker is supplied with a
pull-out, retractable power cord for convenient storage. Simply
pull out the power cord gently to the desired length, or until a
marking appears on the cord to indicate to stop pulling. Do not
pull further than this marking or it will damage the power cord.
To retract the cord after use, simply tug on the cord slightly further
by 1-2 inches and the cord will automatically recoil itself back
into its storage compartment under the base.
CAUTION! Always hold the plug while retracting the cord. Do not
let the cord retract freely. The cord may jam on the reel or the
loose cord may whip back and forth, which could cause injury.
Do not allow children to play with the retractable cord feature as
the cord may cause injury.
Do not put the glass lid in the refrigerator, otherwise it may crack.
Do not use the lid if it is chipped, cracked, or severely scratched.
