edition of Tenor
®
Notes
Interoperability:
Miercom Labs: Quintum demonstrated its Tenor MultiPath Switch capabilities with six other
vendors’ products in the Miercom interoperability Testing Labs in January, 2002. Tenor successfully
demonstrated dynamic fax detection with various codecs. Quintum was the ONLY vendor that
supported H.323 to successfully demonstrate tunneling based on H.245. For more information, go
to: Voice over IP (VoIP) Business Solutions | Quintum | Press Releases
.
FastComm™: Interoperability testing was completed between Quintum’s Digital Tenor VoIP MultiPath Switch
products and FastComm’s SignalPath 230 Signaling Gateway protocol converters in FastComm’s facility in
Dulles, VA. The results confirmed the ability of the Tenor to interface with the SP230 to provide signaling protocol
conversions for ANSI SS7 to T1 NI2, and ITU C7 to ETSI E1 PRI signaling variants. This enables service
providers to provide next generation VoIP services over legacy SS7 networks at the edge or on customer
premises. Read more at: Voice over IP Business Solutions/Quintum/Press
New Functionalities:
SIP! It’s coming soon to Tenors! SIP uses text-based messages and is generally faster, more scalable
and easier to implement than H.323.The demand for SIP has been growing and Quintum Technologies is writing
the code as we speak.

rd
Quarter!
T.38 Fax – Offers standards-based real-time fax over the Internet
Least Cost Routing The Tenor CMS can provide least cost routing of calls to multiple PSTN or IP carrier
networks when used in conjunction with a RADIUS based billing server. The most economical call route is
determined based on the dialed number and calling rates stored in a Rate Table in the billing server. Suitable
billing server software packages are available from Quintum partners.
TDM Switching The Tenor CMS now supports both IP packet and TDM circuit switching. Using Quintum’s
unique MultiPath architecture the CMS can switch calls between any of its ports from IP to PSTN, PSTN to IP, or
PSTN to PSTN. The CMS combines both a powerful TDM circuit switch and H.323 VoIP gateway into one,
compact, cost effective, telephony solution for service providers.
DHCP Client software enables Tenor to operate on a LAN with a dynamic IP address assigned by a DHCP
Server.
Automatic PacketSaver™ Detection software
Enhanced Interactive Voice Response (IVR) feature supports up to three different user selectable languages.
Enhanced calling card feature supports multiple sequential calls in a single calling card session.
Enhanced RADIUS interface and AAA Server authentication process to authenticate and authorize callers
based on the caller’s phone number (ANI), allowing callers to call in from designated phone numbers and gain
access to the network without the need to enter an account or PIN number.
New Case Study: Quintum has a new case study on its website. This case study discusses Metro
Insurance Services and their deployment of Tenors across 3 offices, while assuring that customers need to call
only one number. One receptionist could perform all interoffice routing of calls. You’ll find the story on our web
site: http://www.quintum.com/main/literature.php3
New Distribution Down Under: Quintum Tenor VoIP MultiPath products can now be found in
Australasia. Homologation has been completed and our reseller in Australia is ready to deploy in that entire area
including New Zealand, Fiji and Western Samoa!
The Industry Awards Keep Coming! Quintum has done it again! The
Tenor A200 VoIP MultiPath Switch won the 2002 Best of Show Award, at the recent Internet
Telephony show in Miami. Read the complete press release on our website at:
