2 Introduction
Thank you for choosing our product. Please read this manual carefully
before use to make best use of all functions of the product and to guarantee
that it has a long service life. Please store the manual in a safe place for
later reference.
This product is a portable digital audio player which allows you to play your
MP3 and WMA tracks (multi-codec player) and make voice recordings or
save files of any kind. The backlit LCD displays information on the current
digital music file via the ID3 tag.
Caution
Please read the general safety instructions in chapter 7 before
using the MP3 player. Pay particular attention to the instructions
on safely concluding the digital transfer between the MP3 player
and computer in chap. 3.6.

3.2 LCD and symbols
Overview of the LCD
The LCD shows a variety of information on the current track, the running
time and the system settings. The symbols are explained below.
3.3 Battery status
Insert the provided battery into the battery compartment. The service life of
the battery is approximately 10 hours. The service life of the battery may
vary depending on the various operating conditions of the MP3 player and
installed firmware.
The battery status is displayed by five different symbols:
full 75% 50% 25% empty
Please replace the battery if an empty battery symbol is displayed.
Use rechargeable batteries with at least 800mAh or alkaline batteries.

3.4 Installing the driver
When using Windows 98SE, you must first install the correspond-
ding driver found on the CD-ROM before connecting the MP3
player to your computer. This is not required when using Windows
ME, 2000 and XP.
Connect the MP3 player to your PC using the USB cable.
USB RDY appears in the LCD display and the driver
installation starts. When using Windows ME, 2000
and XP, the PC recognizes a new hardware device
(mass storage device) and automatically installs the
corresponding driver.
If an error occurs during installation, remove the USB cable, restart the
operating system and reconnect the USB cable to the PC.
3.5 Transferring files MP3 player - PC
Connect the MP3 player to your PC using the supplied USB cable.
Open the Windows Explorer or double-click My Computer.
Open your music folder, select the folder or files to be
transferred and drag them to the removable storage
medium symbol of the MP3 player (download).
“RUNNING” appears on the display.
Once the transmission is complete, click the MP3 player symbol and
check whether the files were completely copied.
Following the same procedure, you can also copy files from the MP3 player
to the PC (upload).

Never disconnect the USB cable from your MP3 player during a
data transfer.
3.6 Disable the MP3 player from the PC
Disable the digital MP3 player from the operating system correctly using
the “Remove Hardware Safely” option .
Click the task bar on the right-hand side below the symbol and select
the “Remove USB Mass Storage Device – Drive (X:)” in the following
dialog window.
Then the message now appears that the hardware can be removed.
When using Windows 98SE, does not appear in the task bar.
Once the data has been completely transferred, simply remove
the USB cable.

4 Operation
The Play button (on/off, playback/pause) is used for different functions:
Switches the MP3 player on
Hold down for
(1 … 3 seconds)
Switches the MP3 player off:
Plays tracks and voice files, starts voice recording
Pause
Briefly press when
the MP3 player is
switched on
(0.5 seconds)
Confirms a menu selection
4.1 Switching the MP3 player on and off
Switching the MP3 player on
Ensure that the hold setting is deactivated. If necessary, push the hold
switch into the off position.
Hold the Play button down for approx. one second
until the Display illuminates and a greeting is displayed.
The MP3 player is now in standby mode. The LCD
shows the current track and the number of tracks available. See chapter
4.6 System settings for information on the duration of the blue back-
lighting. If the MP3 player is not switched on, check the polarity of the
battery and ensure that it is charged.
Switching the MP3 player off
Press and hold the Play button for approximately three
seconds until “Good Bye” appears and the Display
illumination deactivates.
4.2 Music mode
Playback, forwards/back, pause, stop
Press the Play button to play the track
showed. The track information (ID3 tag)
is scrolled on the Display.

Tilt and hold the menu button forwards or back  during playback to
skip forwards or back within the track. If you tilt the menu button briefly
forwards or back , playback skips to the next or the previous track.
Press the playback button briefly to pause playback.
Press the stop button to stop playback (standby).
Setting the volume
Press or hold the respective volume control
button (+, -) to raise or lower the volume.
The volume has 33 settings (0…32).
Hold switch
You can block all buttons of your MP3 player
to prevent accidental operation. To do so,
simply move the key lock switch in the
direction as shown by the arrow. During
operation, Key Lock! is shown in the LCD
display. Unlock the keys by moving the
switch back.
Folder function - searching for files
You can create various folders on your MP3 player to manage your music
files or other files. Connect your player to the PC, create the desired folder in
the player memory and copy files into the folder.
Using your player, access the folder contents as follows:
While in pause or standby mode, press
the menu button for approximately
3 seconds. Use  to navigate through
the folder structure and search for the
desired file.
Press the playback button (PLAY) to open
the folder.

Press PLAY twice to select and play the
desired music file.
Briefly press the menu button to exit the
folder structure and return to music
playback mode.
Equalizer settings
While in music playback, briefly press the
menu button and use  to select the
equalizer mode (EQ).
Briefly press PLAY to activate the EQ
mode.
Use  to select the desired sound (normal, classic, live, pop, rock and
DBB).
Confirm using the playback button (PLAY) again.
The sound corresponds to the original sound imaging.
If you do not wish to make any changes, exit the first menu level
by pressing the menu button.
Repeat mode
While in music playback, pause or standby
mode, briefly press the menu button and
use  to select the Repeat mode
(Repeat).
Briefly press PLAY to activate the Repeat
mode.
Use  to select the desired mode (Normal, Repeat one, Repeat all,
Repeat random).
Confirm using the playback button (PLAY) again.

Repeat One: Plays back the current file repeatedly.
Repeat All: Repeatedly plays back all files in the original order.
Random: Plays back the files of the current folder in a random order.
Main menu
If you briefly press the menu button while
the music is paused, the main menu
appears.
You can then select the following options:
Music player music playback
Voice player voice playback
Voice record voice recording
File delete delete file
Setting system settings for the MP3 player
Use  to select the desired option and confirm using the Play button. If
no button is pressed, the player returns to the normal playback menu after a
few seconds.
4.3 Voice recording mode
Your MP3 player can also be used as a digital dictaphone. This allows you
to record important ideas or thoughts when away from home, so you don’t
forget them. Select this function in the main menu as follows.
While in pause or standby mode, briefly
press the menu button and use  to
select the Voice recording mode.
Briefly press PLAY to start voice
recording.
Press PLAY again to stop voice
recording. You can now listen to the
recorded file in voice playback mode.

The sound is recorded as a WAV file (32kbps). During a
recording, all buttons except the Play button and the hold button
are deactivated.
4.4 Voice playback mode
While in pause or standby mode, briefly
press the menu button and use  to
select the voice playback mode.
Briefly press PLAY to activate the voice
playback.
Use  to select the required file.
Press PLAY again to play back the
selected file.
If you would like to return to music mode, briefly press the menu button and
use  to select Music player mode. Then confirm your selection by
pressing the Play button.
4.5 Deleting files
Use the File Delete option in the main menu to delete files in your MP3
player memory.
While in pause or standby mode, briefly
press the menu button and use  to
select the function „File delete“.
Briefly press PLAY. The upper text line of
the LCD displays the number of the
selected track and the lower text line
displays the name of the music or voice
file.
Use  to select the file to be deleted.
Press PLAY. Delete? appears in the
display and must be confirmed by
pressing PLAY again.

If you do not wish to delete the selected file, cancel the dialog using the
menu button. Afterwards, use the main menu to exit the File Delete
option.
You can also delete files or folders using your computer’s file
manager when the MP3 player is connected to the PC via the
USB connection.
4.6 System settings (setting)
The mode setting allows you to change important system settings for your
MP3 player. It contains a total of 8 options
Recurring operating steps:
While in pause or standby mode, briefly press the menu button and use
 and PLAY to select the mode setting.
Use  and PLAY to select the desired option (Language, Lyric
Display, LCD Contrast, Back Light, Format Memory, Memory Info and
S/W Version).
Use  to select the specific value and press the Play button again to
confirm the selection.
Language
Use this option to select the required language:
English, Chinese GB, Chinese BIG5, Korean,
Japanese, German, French, Italian, Spanish.
Lyric Display
When playing MP3 files, your MP3 player
supports the synchronous lyric display.
Install the provided lyric software
(LPSetup.exe) and refer to the online help
on how to create MP3 files with lyrics.
Switch the lyric function on or off in your
MP3 player (Lyric On/Lyric Off).

LCD Contrast
Allows you to set the required display contrast:
Level Low, Level 1, Level 2, Level 3, Level 4,
Level High.
Automatic shutdown of the display (Back Light)
This allows you to set whether the backlight is to
remain on after a button is pressed and how long
it stays on: Off, 3s, 6s, 9s, 12s and 15s.
Formatting the memory
Use this function (select Yes) to format the
internal flash memory of the MP3 player. Keep in
mind that in doing so all files and folders are
permanently deleted. The player may not be
switched off when formatting. Make sure the
batteries are fully charged and do not remove them.
Memory Info
Shows the current amount of free memory space
on your MP3 player.
Firmware Version (S/W Version)
Check the firmware version installed on your
MP3 player when firmware updates are made
available.

6 Troubleshooting
Symptoms Cause and solution
The software does not work
properly.
Error occurred during installation:
Reinstall the software and check the
system requirements
The MP3 player does not work
or there is nothing shown on the
LCD.
Batteries are dead or there is a strong
electromagnetic pulse: Check battery
capacity, insert new battery with at least
800mAh and make sure the polarity is
correct or briefly remove the battery and
then reinsert it
The buttons on the player do
not work.
Hold setting is activated: Ensure that the
hold switch is deactivated
The audio files available in the
MP3 player memory are not
played back.
Files are damaged or do not correspond
to the standards: Make sure that the files
correspond to one of the formats below:
MPEG-1 Layer 3, MPEG-2 Layer 3 and
MPEG-2.5 Layer 3, WMA version
4.1/7.0/8.0 (Bit rate > 64kps)
MP3 files cannot be
downloaded from the PC.
Check or replace batteries, check hold
function and cable/plug connection to the
PC
No USB connection is
established to the PC.
Hardware or software problems: Check
cable/plug connection to the PC,
Windows system configuration and USB
driver. Most failures to recognize the USB
device are due to defective or obsolete
drivers for the USB port (insert Windows
CD).

7 Safety instructions
Although this product is safe, please observe the following information and
warnings.
Never expose the device to rain, moisture or humidity.
Malfunctions, damage and electric shocks can occur as a
result.
Never press two buttons simultaneously and handle the LCD
display carefully.
Do not expose the device to direct sunlight or a dusty
environment.
Do not shake the device or subject it to hard knocks. Do not
place any heavy objects on top of the device.
Do not carry the MP3 player with other metal objects (coins or
keys) in your pocket.
Clean the device only using a soft, dry cloth.
When cleaning the device, do not use any volatile substances,
such as solvents, to avoid damaging the surface.
Do not open the casing of the device under any circumstances,
and do not attempt to repair or modify the device.
If the MP3 player is not to be used for a longer period of time,
remove the battery. Used batteries should be disposed of properly
to protect the environment.
Prevent hearing damage and keep the volume in an acceptable
range. For safety reasons, do not wear headphones while
actively participating in traffic.
