Many bad tastes and/or odox_ are renloved fl'oln water using acti;'ated carbon filter cartridges. They are
most often used to remove a chlorine taste and odin: They can also reduce other undesirable elements ti'om
drinking water sui)plies, such as o_ganic chemical contaminants and lead.
/VOTE'.Small amotmts (ff hydrogen sulfide (noticeable as "rotten egg" odor) may be reduced by taste and
odor filte_ tot a short time, but the carbon media is quickly exhausted. Other water conditioning
equipment is usually required tin" the continuous treatment of hydrogen sulfide.
The Water Filtrationsystem uses two filter cartridges.

About the water filtration system.
Using the Water Filtration System and About the Filter Cartridge
The countertop timcet dispenses filtered drinking water when opened.
It has a hand-operated, spring-loaded closed lever to prevent waste,
Ym can keep the timcet open bv pushing upward on the lever to lock it
against the timcet spout.
Filter Cartridge Life -Se',eral ",ariables detemfine how long the cartridges
will last in your Water Film_tion system. These include:
E_] How much water you use.
r-_'] How much sediment, taste and/or odor, lead, or other unwanted substance
is in the water
No matter which Water Filtration system you have, you should replace the
cartridges eve_T six months, when indicated bv the electronic indicator
light on the base. In extremely poor water supplies, you may notice the
return of the unwanted substance in vour water before the six months
are up. In this case the camidges should be replaced immediamly.
If the s):stem is also fin" lead or chemical contaminant removal, it is
MORE IMPORTANTto replace the cartridges at least every six months.
NOTE:If the water supply contains high aillotlnts of sediments, the carbon
filte_ may plug prematurely, reducing filtered water fl_)w to the system
timcet. Cartridge replacement is needed to restore flow.
Electronic Indicator Light(not available onall models) - Th eelectronic
indicator light on the base ot the timcet is a six-month timer that shows
w)u when to replace the filter cartridges. _,_]_en the battery pack is fi_t
installed, the indicator light will light briefly to show that the electronics
are operating. If this does not happen, the batteries may be installed
backwards or the lead wires are not connected.
_Mter about six months, the indicator light begins to flash. It is time to
replace the filter cartridges. X._qmn rel)lacin,*_ the filter cartridges, also
replace the batteries in the batte_, pack. Two __ batteries are required.
