INTENDED USE2.
This product is designed to measure temperature via a type K temperature sensor. The measurement
range is from -200 to +1370 ºC (-328 to 2498 ºF). The measured temperature readings are saved
on the data logger and can be analysed using the software included. The internal memory can store
31,808 readings. In addition, alarm values can be set that trigger a visual warning signal if they are
exceeded/under-run. The measurements can be started automatically or manually. Power is supplied
via a 3.6 V lithium type 1/2 AA battery. The product is only to be used indoors in dry conditions.
This product fulls European and national requirements related to electromagnetic compatibility
(EMC). CE conformity has been veried and the relevant statements and documents have been

directory than the suggested one. Still leave the CD in the drive after installation. The program icon
is created on the desktop (“Type K Temperature Datalogger”).
19
Connect the datalogger to the computer when it is ready for operation. After a brief moment, the 4.
computer reports a new hardware and starts installing the USB driver.
Follow the instructions of the installation program.5.
After the installation is complete, you can start the program “Type K Temperature Datalogger”.6.
For help or the exact descriptions of each software function, go to the menu “Help – Help Topics”. 7.
You can also click on the yellow question mark icon.
PROGRAMMING THE DATA LOGGER8.
Once you reprogram the data logger and save the settings, all previously saved
data are deleted. Thus, if required, save the readings prior to reprogramming the
data logger. Then proceed as described in the chapter “Data logger readout“.
Connect the data logger to a PC and start the “Type K Temperature Datalogger” program.1.
In the program, the menu item “Instrument – Data Logger Setup” or the small computer icon in the 2.
toolbarisusedtocongurethedatalogger(seechapter“Conguringthedatalogger”).
For help or the exact descriptions of each software function, go to the menu “Help – Help Topics”. 3.
You can also click on the blue question mark icon.
In the blue bar at the top, the setup program displays the connection to the data logger.4.
Connected = Data logger is ready for use -
Not Connected = Data logger is not ready for use or is not connected. -
After you have successfully programmed the data logger, click on “Setup” in order to save the 5.
settings in the data logger. The data logger is now programmed and can be started.

STARTING THE MEASUREMENT9.
The temperature sensor included in delivery is suitable for a temperature range •
of -50 to +250 ºC. To utilise the full measurement range of the data logger, you
will need a temperature sensor with a more extensive measurement range
(available separately).
Make sure only to use the temperature sensors specied to this effect for your
measurements (in this case: K type). Before connecting lines, check plugs or
sensor tips (“beads”) for good condition and for awless insulation (free of
damage).
Make sure that only the temperature sensors are exposed to the temperatures
to be measured. Make sure to observe the safety provisions and the technical
data as regards the service temperature. The max. input quantities must never
be exceeded.
Never try to press mixed-up connectors (+ and -) forcefully into the bushes.
This would destroy the bushes beyond repair, and they would have to be
replaced.
Do not connect voltages! This might destroy the device.
Hold the temperature sensor line end to/in the de-energized measuring uid
(heat sink, etc., but not in caustic or inammable uids!).
First you must program the data logger (see chapter “Programming the data logger”).1.
If you have selected the “Manual” function, hold down the Data Logger button for two seconds to 2.
start the measurement.
If you have selected the “Automatic” function, the data logger starts the measurement automatically 3.
after you have completed programming the data logger. If you have set a time delay, measurement
will commence after the preset time period.

Setup”.
To stop the measurement manually, hold down the Data Logger button for two seconds.5.
Once the memory of the data logger is full, the measurement is terminated automatically.6.
The recording can also be terminated at any time by displaying the readout on the computer before 7.
the recording is complete (see chapter “Displaying data logger readout”).

DISPLAYING DATA LOGGER READOUT10.
Start the “Type K Temperature Datalogger” program and connect the data logger to the computer.1.
From the menu, select “Instrument – Download Data”. You can also click on the icon with the white 2.
arrow with blue background.
Press“Download”toconrm.Themeasuringcurveofthemeasurementisdisplayed.3.
To save the data, choose “File – Save” from the menu. You can also click on the disc icon.4.
To exit, close the program window.5.

Keeping the data logger connected to the USB port of the computer for extended periods
can result in a premature discharge of the battery.
23
INSERTING / REPLACING THE BATTERY11.
With a pointed object (e.g. a small screwdriver or similar), open the casing. Lever the casing off in 1.
the direction of the arrow.
Pull the data logger from the casing.2.
Turn the data logger around and insert the battery into the battery compartment observing the right 3.
polarity. Observe of the polarity markings in the battery compartment.
Slide the data logger back into the casing until it snaps into place. Now the data logger is ready 4.
for programming.
ReplacementofthebatteryisrequiredwhentheredLEDashesevery20seconds.
INSTALLING WALL HOLDER12.
Make sure not to damage any cables or pipes behind the wall when drilling dowel
holes.
Select a level, vertical surface and drill two dowel holes.1.
Insert the dowels and secure the wall bracket in vertical alignment on the surface using the screws. 2.
The mounting holes of the wall bracket must face downwards.
Place the data logger in the wall bracket. The protective cap must point downwards. 3.
24
Alternatively, attach the wall bracket using the double-sided adhesive tape applied to
theback.Todothis,removetheprotectivelmandpressthewallbracketagainstthe
desired surface. The surface must be dry, dust-free and free of grease. The adhesive
tape reaches its full adhesive strength for bonding only at temperatures over 5 °C.
MAINTENANCE AND CLEANING13.
The device is maintenance-free apart from the need to replace the batteries and cleaning it once in
a while. Use a clean, lint-free, antistatic and slightly damp cloth to clean the device. Do not use any
abrasive or chemical agents or detergents containing solvents.
DISPOSAL14.
