Make using USB peripherals easier. Easy USB allows you to utilize the front USB connectors on many
new motherboards through a 5.25” drive bay. At the same it acts as a drive conversion kit so you can mount
a 3.5" device in the 5.25" drive bay. So in one product, you get both a drive conversion kit and front USB
interface ports. With this set up you can then easily attach more USB peripherals without having deal with
connecting them to the back of your computer.
Installation instructions:
On your case remove a 5.25” drive cover from an open 5.25” drive bay. Make sure the EMI shield
(metal plate behind the drive cover) is also removed.
To install your external 3.5” device into the Easy USB, first remove the drive cover. Then use the included
screws to secure the device through the screw holes on the bottom of the Easy USB. For internal (hard
drives) 3.5” devices, you do not need to remove the drive cover. Otherwise installation is the same as for
external 3.5” devices.
Next, mount the Easy USB into your case, with the screws provided.
Now you can start connecting the cables. The cables with two ends - one end with one 10-pin connector and
the other end with two 5-pin connectors. Connect the 10-pin connector to the back of the Easy USB. It
will only connect one way. Connect the other two 5-pin connectors to your motherboard as described
below.
Note: Consult your motherboard manual or manufacturer for the exact USB pin-out of your
motherboard before connecting.
1. First identify the USB connector on your motherboard. It should be a 10-pin, two-row connector with
one power pin on each of the rows.
2. Connect either of the 5-pin connectors to a row first. Make sure you align the red wire (marked with
“power”) with the power pin.
3. Repeat the same procedure to connect the other connector.
4. In most situations, pin 1 and 2 are the power pins. There may be some exceptions. Make sure you
consult your motherboard manual first.
