SUBJECT: Part #90710 Gas Tank Skid Plate Installation Instructions
Important: This installation is best done with an empty tank of fuel. It will be difficult to manage the tank with too much fuel
in it. Also note that this is a replacement skid plate, the existing plate will need to be removed in order to install this one.
1. Begin by supporting the gas tank with a floor jack. A piece of wood to distribute the load across the skid will also
help in lowering it steadily.
2. Along the front and back edges of the skid are bolts holding it in place. Remove these bolts.
3. Lower the skid. You may be able to let your tank hang while you swap the skid out.
4. Inspect your gas tank straps and if not in good shape, replace them. Rusty straps should not be re-used.
5. Load your new skid onto the jack and reverse the process to raise it into place.
6. Bolt the new skid into place and lower the jack out of your way
Be careful not to damage any fuel lines or filler neck hoses while doing this installation.
