ASV101
1.6 Function
The ASV101 is used for controlling valves for regulating the output of reciprocating compressors and can
be operated in two operation modes (EXTERNAL and PWM). The operating mode is selected using a se-
lector switch on the module (Position 0 = EXTERNAL mode / Position 1 = PWM mode). The parameters
for the desired functions are configured on the master module. Two outputs "Out1" and "Out2" are used
for capacity regulation. Capacity regulation can only take place when the two outputs have been enabled
by a feedback signal from the compressor on the "Operation feedback" input (terminal 1...2). If this feed-
back is not present, the two outputs and the valves are switched off. When enabled, outputs "Out1" and
"Out2" are actuated through the 0...10V control input (terminal 9...10). The required control signal is sent
continuously from the FRIGOLINK rack master module HVx through the 0...10V outputs of the compressor
field modules (FVB110B, FVB110-PAT, FVB120B, FVB120-PAT, FVB140B, FVB140-PAT).
PWM operating mode
In PWM mode (Pulse Width Modulation), the ASV101 converts the modulated 0…10V control signal
from a field module into a valve cycle value. In this way, each voltage value at the input corresponds
to a certain pulse/pause ratio at the output. The period duration of the pulse width modulation is 12s
and cannot be changed.
The two outputs available on the ASV101 are push-pull outputs. In this way, 2 banks of compressors
can be controlled at the same time, each with 0...100% bank capacity and therefore with 0...100% com-
pressor capacity. Push-pull operation produces an even mass flow since bank switching is distributed
over time, thus avoiding - as far as possible - simultaneous switching of the cylinder bridges. If more
than 2 banks are to be controlled, they can be operated in parallel with the first two banks. Total com-
pressor capacity is then also controlled from 0 to 100%. Parallel connection only affects the mass flow
ratios, which may differ when examined periodically. Output is inverted (0%=both outputs ON).

EXTERNAL operating mode
In this operating mode, the outputs can be controlled separately by voltage coding.
