Depress “ON/OFF” button until the color indicator is visible.
Remove handset. If dial tone is not heard in the headset, move
slide switch to each position in turn. When a clear dial tone is heard,
go to the next step. If no dial tone is heard in any switch position,
move the switch to position 5 and install the AC/DC converter as
described above.
Adjusting the Transmit Level Dial
You may need to adjust the sound transmission level of your head-
set (what your caller hears). Before attempting this adjustment, com-
plete the installation of your headset. If needed, return to this section
to adjust the Transmit Level Dial.
Place a call to a friend and talk while rotating the dial with the screw-
driver. (FIGURE 5) Continue rotating until the optimum sound tone
and level are reached. The sound level should be the same as when
using the handset. You can check it by putting the handset to your
ear and then pushing the “ON/OFF” button so the indicator is black.
Once set, you do not have to readjust this dial unless you change
telephones.
Return the plastic mini-screwdriver to the bracket for future use.
USAGE
Quick Disconnect
Your headset model is equipped with a Quick Disconnect module.
This feature allows you to place a call on hold without removing
your headset, thus freeing you to perform a task away from the
phone. Your conversation is quickly resumed by reconnecting the
Quick Disconnect.
Before attempting to use your headset, be sure that the two Quick
Disconnect halves are connected.
To put your call on hold, grasp the Quick Disconnect as shown and
pull straight apart. (FIGURE 6)
To resume your conversation, reconnect the two halves of the Quick

In compliance with FCC Rules and Regulations, Part 68, you are advised that:
1. Before installing your headset, you must notify the owner of the host equipment (i.e., leasing company).
Provide them with the headset registration number. The registration number is printed on the headset

internal wiring of leased telephones or other devices, such connections can only be made with permission
of the owner of the host equipment.
3. In case of trouble, disconnect your headset to determine the trouble source. If the headset is the source,
modifications or repairs can only be made by the headset manufacturer or its authorized representatives.
SERVICE INFORMATION
Should you encounter difficulties or be uncertain about proper installation, please follow the procedures below:
Replace the faulty amplifier with a working amplifier. If the problem persists, the problem is probably not in the
amplifier, but in the equipment to which it is connected.
If the replacement clears the problem the trouble is in the amplifier.
Should your amplifier fail to operate properly, and you wish to obtain service under the Warranty specified in your
agreement with AVAYA, please contact your AVAYA representative. When returning the amplifier for service, it is
not necessary to include the headset.

Notice:
The Industry Canada label identifies certified equipment. This certification means that the equipment meets
certain telecommunications network protective, operational and safety requirements. The Department does not
guarantee the equipment will operate to the users satisfaction.
Before installing this equipment, users should ensure that it is permissible to be connected to the facilities of the

extended by means of a certified connector assembly (telephone extension cord). The customer should be aware
that compliance with the above conditions may not prevent degradation of service in some situations.
Repairs to certified equipment should be made by an authorized Canadian maintenance facility designated by the
supplier. Any repairs or alterations made by the user to this equipment, or equipment malfunctions, may give the
telecommunications company cause to request the user to disconnect the equipment.
Users should ensure for their own protection that the electrical ground connec-tions of the power utility, telephone
lines and internal metallic water pipe system, if present, are connected together. This precaution may be
particularly important in rural areas.
Caution:
Users should not attempt to make such connections themselves, but should contact the appropriate
electric inspection authority, or electrician, as appropriate.
Notice:
The Ringer Equivalence Number (REN) assigned to each terminal device provides an indication of the
