1. Safety
To prevent personal injury
• Isolated electrically before re-lamping. Caution : hot lam p (house).
• Caution: High pressure lamp may explode if impro perly handled. Refer s ervicing to qualified service personnel. Th e customer
should never attempt to disassemble the lamp casing or to dispose of the lamp c asing oth er than by returning it to Barco.
• To reduce the lamp heat of the projector, switch the projector first to standby and let the projector lamp cool d own for at least 5
minutes. Then the projector may be switched off w ith the power switch.
• To prevent injury a nd physical damage, always read this manual and all labels on the system before inserting the lamp casing,
connecting to the wall outlet or adjusting the projector.
• To prevent injury, take note of the weight of the projector. Minimum 4 persons are nee ded to carry the FLM.
• To prevent injury, ensure that the lens and all cover plates are correctly installed. See installation procedures.
• Warning: high intensity light beam . N EV ER look into the lens ! High luminance c ould result in injury to the ey e.
• Before attempting to remove any of the projector ’s cove rs, y ou must disc onnect from the wall outlet.
• When performing setup work to a ceiling mounted projector, to prevent injury caused by falling objects or the system, set out
a keep out area.
• Consult a professional structural engineer prior to suspending the projector from a structure n ot intended for that us e. Always
ensure that the working load limit of the structure c an handle the load of the projector.
• Never stack more than two (2) FLM projectors in a hanging configuration (truss) and never stack more than three (3) F LM
projectors in a base stand configuration (table mount).
• The power input at the projector side is considered as the dis connect device. When required to sw itch off the device, to ac cess
parts inside, always disconnect the power cord a t the bas e of the device. In case the power input at the base of the dev ice is
not acces sible (e.g. ceiling mou nt), the socket outlet supplying the device shall be installed near by the device and be easily
accessible, or a readily ac cessible general disconnect device shall be incorporated in the fixed wiring.
• Do not place this equipmen t on an unstable cart, stand, or table. T he product may fall, causing serious damage to it and
possible injury to the user.
• When mounting the device to the ceiling or to a rigging system, always mount security chains.
• It is hazardous to operate without lens or shield. Shields, lenses or utra-vilolet screens sh all be changed if they have becom e
visible damaged to such an extent that their effectiveness is impaired. For example by cracks or deep scratches.
• Warning: Protection from ultraviolet radiation: Do not look directly in the light beam. The lamp contained in this product is
an intense source of light and heat. One component of the light emitted from this lamp is ultraviolet light. P otential eye and skin
hazards are present when the lamp is ener gized due to ultraviolet radiation. Avoid unneces sary exposure. P rotect yourself and
your employees by making them aware of the hazards and how to protect thems elves. Protecting the skin can be ac com plished
by w earing tightly woven garments and gloves. Protecting the ey es from UV can be ac comp lished by wea ring safety glasses
that are designed to provide UV pr otection. In addition to the UV, the visible light from the lamp is intense and should also b e
considered when ch oosing pr otective eye wear.
• Exposure to UV radiation: Some m edications are known to make individuals e xtra sensitive to UV radiation. The Amer ican
Conference of Governm ental Industrial Hygienists (ACGIH) recommends occupational UV exposure f or an-8hour day to be
less than 0.1 microwatts per s quare centimeters of effective UV radiation. An e valuation of the wor kplace is ad vised to assu re
employees are not exposed to c umulative radiation levels exceeding these government guidelines.
• Cooling liquid circuit. The device head contains a cooling circuit filled with Blue antifreeze d iluted ( 1/3 ethanediol – 2/3 Dem i
wate r).
When the cooling circuit leaks, switch off the device and c
ontact a service technician.
The liquid is not for household use. Keep out of reach of children. Harmful by oral intake. Avoid exposure to pregnant women.
Avoid contact with eyes, skin and clothing. Avoid inhale of the nox ious fumes.
To prevent device damage
• The FLM has been des igned for use with a specific lamp (house) type. See installation instructions for its correct type.
• If the air filters are not regularly replaced, the air flow inside the projector could be disr upted, caus ing overheating. Overheating
may lead to the projector shutting down during operation.
• In order to ensure that correct airflow is maintained, and that the devic e complies with electromagnetic compatibility (EMC)
requirements, and for safety requirements, it should always be o perated with all of it’s covers in place.
• Slots and o penings in the cabinet are provided for ventilation. To ensure reliable operation of the produc t and to protect it from
overheating, these openings mus t not be blocked or covered. T he openings should never be blocked by placing the p roduct
on a bed, sofa, rug, or other sim ilar surface. This product should never be placed near or over a radiator or heat register. The
device shou ld not be plac ed in a built-in installation or enclosure unless proper ventilation is provided.
• Do not block the projector cooling fans or free air movement under and around the projector. Loose papers or other objects
may not be nearer to the projector than 10 cm (4") on any side.
• The device must always be m ounted in a m anner which ensur es free flow of air into its air inlets and unimpeded evacua tion of
the hot air exha usted from its cooling system. Heat sensitive materials should not be placed in the path of the exhausted air.
Leave at least a free safety area of 1 meter (40”) at the rear of the projector.
• Ensure that nothing can be spilled on, or drop
ped inside the projector. If this does happen, s w itch off and unplug the mains
supply imme diately. Do not operate the projector again until it has been checked by qualified service technicians.
• Consult a professional structural engineer when you have the intention to use this projector as ceiling mounted projector. Always
ensure the working load lim it of the structure supporting the projector.
• Do not us e this equipment near water.
