Recording (DCX-3400)
Live recording
With your Digital Video Recorder you can record your favourite programs and series, rewind or pause live television. The different recording
features are explained below.
The Digital video recorder is able to record two live programs on two channels at the same time thanks to its two tuners. Those tuners auto-
matically record what you are watching for up to two hours in standard quality or 30 minutes in high definition. This feature lets you rewind
and pause the recorded content of the two tuners.
When you change channel on any tuner, the cycle is restarted and the recorded content from the last channel is lost.
The green bar, on the bottom of the screen, controls the recorded content of the terminal. When the green bar is full you have two hours of
recorded content. The bar fills in gradually when the tuner stays on the same channel. For example, if the terminal is tuned on a channel for
30 minutes you will be able to rewind 30 minutes.
It is possible to swap from one tuner to the other by pressing the SWAP key. If you pause on the first tuner then swap to the other, the first
tuner will keep on recording. You will then be able to fast forward to live television.
If more than one program was recorded, the terminal will show a different color for every program. The program you are watching is always
green.
It is possible to record the content, recorded in the tuner, on the hard drive. All you need to do is press on REC. If the program is already
started and is recorded on the time bar, the DVR will record it from the start. However if the program was not tuned in from the start, it will not
be recorded completely.
The control of the basic functions of the DVR is very similar to a DVD. The
PAUSE key stops the viewing but leaves the picture still. The PLAY key
starts the viewing, the STOP key ends the viewing. It is also possible to
rewind and fast forward using the REW and FFWD keys (five speeds are
available for the two last options.).Note using PAUSE and FFWD or REW
in combination will let you go forward or back in slow motion.

Many options are available during series recording. Use the arrow keys, , to adjust parameters in the different tabs.
Record: This option lets you decide if the Digital Video Recorder must
record all episodes of a serie or only the new episodes, avoiding repeats.
WARNING: This option only works when each episode has a different and
detailed description in the guide. This option will not work properly if all the
episodes have the same description.
Save: This option let you set the number of episodes, of the same serie,
the DVR will record on its hard drive. If you set the option to three episodes,
the DVR will erase the oldest episodes of the serie automatically. This way
we avoid overloading the hard drive uselessly. By selecting all episodes, the
DVR will record without erasing anything.
Save until : This option protects the recording from unwanted erasing. If the option is set to space needed, the terminal will erase the
program when the hard drive reaches 80% of its capacity to create some space. If the option is set to I delete, the terminal will not erase
when reaching 80% of its capacity
Record programs on: This option gives you the opportunity to decide if the DVR will record the serie only on the channel you selected
or if it will record on all the channels where the episodes are available. This option can come handy for series on SUPER ECRAN, conside-
ring these series are broadcasted on four different channels.
Start recording / Stop recording: This option lets you add up to 15 minutes at the beginning or the end of the program to avoid not
recording the beginning or the end.
WARNING: If the recording starts one minute early, you need to make sure it doesn’t conflict with another previous recording.
This option let you record a specific time period without referring to any particular program.
