1 INTRODUCTION
This instruction manual must be considered as a part of the machine. The suppliers of both new and old machines must prove through
documentations that the present manual has been delivered with the machine.
THE OPERATOR MUST READ THiS INSTRUCTION MANUAL AND ALL ITS SECTIONS CAREFULLY, BEFORE PERFORMING
ANY KIND OF OPERATION ON THE MACHINE.
2 AIM OF THE MACHINE
The R70 bio-shredder is a hobby machine to shred in small pieces different kinds of vegetable waste up to a maximum diameter of 50
mm resulting from maintaining green areas.
The material to be shredded is introduced in the specific loading hopper and is shredded by a fixed blade of tempered steel and is
finally ejected 650 mm from the ground through a small discharge tube. In the hopper there is a strong suction which facilitates the
shredding of leaves and green material.
3 OPERATORS TRAINING
The instructions manual must be employed for operators training who will work with the machine. The machine must be used by
qualified personnel who has received a sufficient and appropriate training in the field of safety and health with particularly reference to
its job role and tasks. During the training period, operators can work only if supervised by skilled personnel
4 SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
During the machine start up, use and maintenance, the following safety rules must be observed:
4.1 OPERATORS SAFETY
Under-sixteen years old are not allowed to use bio-shredders.
During the machine use, the user is responsible against third parties.
During the grinding, it is compulsory to wear gloves and protective spectacles; it has been proved that, with a constant use of the
machine, the sound level allowed is exceeded; it is highly recommended to wear an ear protector.
During the machine use, it is necessary to wear stout shoes and long trousers all the time.
Hair must be tied above the shoulders.
Do not use the machine, if you are tired, ill, or after having ingested alcoholic drinks, medicines or drugs.
4.2 MACHINE SAFETY
During the ignition of the engine, make sure all the parts of the machine have been perfectly mounted in the correct way.
Before using the bio-shredder, replace broken or damaged parts.
Before leaving the bio-shredder, turn the engine off and disconnect it from the electrical network.
It is compulsory to use the machine with all its safety devices mounted correctly.
Do not put any material into the bio-shredder before having turned on and brought to is maximum speed the engine.
Do not ever modify the machine.
Do not use the machine for functions others than those for which it has been conceived.
4.3 SAFETY DURING GRINDING
During the use of the bio-shredder, the operator must wear individual protective devices, always stay close to the hopper where he
introduces the material to be grinded, and make sure that nobody is within a 20 meters radius.
It is forbidden to introduce branches whose dimensions exceed those prescribed (50 mm as indicated by the pictogram on the
hopper).
Do not introduce in the bio-shredder stones, metal, glass, plastic, earth, packs of newspapers, ect. but only vegetable waste.
When the machine is working, do not ever remove any protective guard.
The operator must never be close to the discharge pipe of the material, while the machine is working.
No body part must be put within the protective guards.
4.4 SAFETY OF MAINTENANCE
For any maintenance activity of the machine, please refer to the procedures indicated in the section Maintenance.
Use original spare parts only.
While replacing the blades and cleaning the machine, be careful not to cut yourselves: "CUTTING TOOLS ARE DANGEROUS".
Do not perform any kind of maintenance activity before having worn protective gloves and safety shoes, and having turned off the
engine and having disconnected the machine from the electrical network. Wait for the rotor to have completely stopped.
4.5 SAFETY OF TRANSPORT AND STORAGE
Make sure all parts of the shredder are perfectly welded to the machine, in order to prevent any objects from being lost during
transport.
Transport the machine carefully and with the motor turned off.
Use the special hooks to lift the machine (see the paragraph Transport).
5 ASSEMBLY
The bio-shredder R70 is usually provided partially mounted for transport reasons. Before starting to assemble the machine, wear
protective gloves and carry out the following procedures using as reference the images you find in the first pages of this handbook.

6 TRASPORTATION
The machine transportation can be carried out by authorized means only. Make sure the machine engine has been turned off during
transportation.
Should the machine be lifted, use the lifting hook on the structure and a band about 1 meter long.
7 SAFETY DEVICE
The shredder R70 is equipped with a magnetic sensor (S pic. 1F) which avoid accidentally starting when the cutting tools are
exposed. Verify the correct functioning of the system whenever the machine is used in this way:
Start the engine up
Unscrew the magnetic knob (P pic. 3A)
If the system doesn’t correctly work, moving away the knob from the sensor will cause the turning off of the engine. Once the test is
executed, screw the knob back and start the shredder again.

8.1 WORKING TIME
According to the rules about the protection against noises, shredders can only be used in predetermined time periods established by
the existing law of the country where the machine is used.
8.2 MACHINE START UP
Place the bio-shredder on a dry and flat ground. Make sure that all protection guards are closed.
Connect the plug to the socket of the electric network and idle the machine.
8.3 USAGE
Use the machine at an ambient temperature between -15°C and 40°C.
Once the start up has been carried out wear the gloves, the protective spectacles and protective cap. Insert leaves, branches and
other vegetable waste not wider than 50 mm in the loading hopper with the biggest end turned towards the chipping blade to ease the
shredding.
To achieve the best working and shredding conditions of the machine you have to grasp with your hands the bundle of branches,
insert it in the hopper and slightly accompany it. If possible avoid the material from being dragged too violently in order not to overload
the engine too much. Should the descent of the leaves, grass and humid material towards the cutting tools be difficult, we advise you
to alternate the shredding of these materials with the shredding of branches (not wider than 50 mm of diameter) or to just push them
with a branch (always of a diameter less than 50 mm). We strongly advise not to shred too humid materials to avoid having problems
with the discharge of the material.
If the material is not dragged by the shredding group, but a strong manual push is necessary, it means that the blade has lost its
cutting wire and that you must sharpen it or substitute it following the instructions contained in paragraph 5.2.
8.4 ACCIDENTAL CASES AND PROCEDURES TO FOLLOW
The bio-shredder does not work loadless
Make sure the plug is inserted correctly in the electric network, make sure the used socket is under tension and check to have
correctly pressed the ignition switch. Check to have fully screwed the knob (P) on the loading hopper. Check that the sensor (S) is not
disconnected. Pic. 2
Blocking of the cutting assembly because too much material has been introduced into the machine or because of an accidental fall
of stones or metals
Turn the engine off as fast as possible and wear safety gloves. Clean the bio-shredder as explained in the “Maintenanceparagraph.
Every time a blocking of the bio-shredder occurs, due to the above mentioned causes, always check the correct efficiency of the
blade.
Excessive vibrations
Excessive vibrations can be caused by an unbalance of the cutting group. Find out the exact cause of this problem and contact an
authorised technician for the repair.
9 MAINTENANCE
Before any check, maintenance or cleaning activity that has to be carried out at the end of every process, turn the engine off,
disconnect it from the electrical network and wear safety gloves.
The maintenance concering the protection removing must be executed by authorized workshop.
9.1 CLEANING OF THE BIO-SHREDDER
CUTTING TOOLS ARE DANGEROUS !!!
Unscrew the knob (P) entirely and remove it from the hopper (T) Pic. 3A
Loosen of a few millimeters the 6 flanged nuts (D) Pic. 3B
Turn the hopper as shown in the figure and remove it from the body of the machine Pic. 3C
Should there be jammed material and if it is impossible to take it away by following these simple operations, you have to extract the
rotor.
Block the rotor by inserting a screwdriver in the specific holes (F) on the rotor and on the body of the machine. Remove the screw (V)
and the plate and clean well the hexagon hole to allow a better fixing of the Allen wrench. Pic. 4A

Screw a M12 fully-threaded screw (V2) with a neck of at least 70 mm. By screwing little by little, the rotor will be removed from the
body of the machine. Pic. 4B
After cleaning the bio-shredder, reassemble the components by carrying out these procedures in the reverse order.
9.2 CHECKING AND REPLACING OR SHARPENING OF THE BLADES
Blades must always be checked before using them. To guarantee the good working of the machine, to achieve the best working
conditions and avoid any damage of the machine, blades must always be intact and sharp (Pic. 5A). The duration of the cutting wire
depends on the nature and type of the shredded material and it is therefore impossible to give a precise datum. If the machine is used
to shred material containing dust, sand, or earth, the cutting wire of the blades will deteriorate very quickly.
ATTENTION: USING THE MACHINE WITH BLADES IN BAD CONDITIONS CAN CAUSE MECHANIC DAMAGES IMPUTABLE TO
THE USER.
To check the conditions of the blades, you need to have access to the rotor as indicated in the paragraph “Maintenance-Cleaning of
the bio-shredder”, when the blades are like in (Pic. 5B), they need to be sharpened.
To disassemble the blades, it is necessary to insert an Allen screw in the screws (V) making sure to clean well inside the hexagon
hole. Remove the blade and start sharpening (on the short side with a 40° inclination). Reassemble the blade (L) making sure the
supporting surface is perfectly clean and tighten the screws with a tightening torque of 37 Nm (Pic. 6). Should the screws be worn,
replace them by using screws with a resistance category of 10.9 or higher. We advise to substitute the screws each time you
substitute the blade.
Use original spare parts only (branded with the name of the manufacturer) and easily available from NEGRI authorised resellers.
Should the blade be subject to strong blows or hits, let a technician examine it.
If you require spare parts or simply technical information from our After Sales Service, it is necessary to provide the MODEL, the
SERIAL NUMBER and the YEAR OF CONSTRUCTION of the machine in order to make its identification easier and thus provide a
quick and precise service.
The above mentioned information can be found on the identification plate (see sticker AD0028 in the first pages of this manual).
10 STORAGE
At the end of every use, turn the engine off, disconnect it from the electrical network, clean the cutting assembly. Store the machine in
a dry and covered place.
