Motorola AP-5131 Access Point Quick Setup Guide
GettingStarted
1. These instructions were written for the AP-5131 using firmware version 1.1.0.0-045R.
The configuration steps and screens may vary with different firmware.
2. Confirm the following programs are available on the computer used to configure the
AP-5131.
• Internet Explorer 6.0, or higher, set as the computer’s default browser.
• Sun Microsystems’ Java 2 (JRE) version 1.5 or higher (available from Sun’s
Website).
o Disable Microsoft’s Java Virtual Machine if installed.
o To test the computer’s Java 2 environment, visit
http://www.java.com/en/download/help/testvm.jsp
3. Assemble the AP-5131 and cable connections
• Remove device from box and attach antenna.
• Attached the power cord to the power injector.
• Connect the power injector to an AC outlet.
• Connect the Ethernet cables as listed. Cross or straight cables may be used.
o AP-5131 “WAN” port
and the computer.
o AP-5131 “LAN” port
and the Power Injector “Data and Power Out” connector.
• Both lights on the Power Injector should be green and steady: “Port” and “AC”.
BasicAP5131Configuration
1. Change the computer’s IP Address to 10.1.1.2.
Windows XP
a. Click on Start
b. Select Control Panel
c. Select Network Connections.
d. Right Click Local Area Connections
e. Select Properties.
f. Select Internet Protocol, (TCP/IP)
g. Select Properties
h. Select “Use the following IP
address”.
i. IP Address = 10.1.1.2
j. Subnet mask = 255.0.0.0.
k. Click “Ok” and “Ok”.
l. Close the Local Area Connection
Status.
Windows Vista
a. Click on Windows Start icon
b. Select Control Panel.
c. Select Network and Internet.
d. Select Network and Sharing Center.
e. Select Manage network connections
(left column).
f. Right click on Local Area Connection
g. Select Properties.
h. Select Internet Protocol Version 4
(TCP/IPv4)
i. Select Properties.
j. Select “Use the following IP
address”.
k. IP Address = 10.1.1.2
l. Subnet mask = 255.0.0.0.
m. Click “Ok” and “Ok”.
n. Close Network connections.
o. Close Network and Sharing Center.
