Safety Information

 Check for any damage to your machine. Never start a machine

damaged in any way.

 Unwrap the packaging materials as indicated and dispose of them in

accordance with the rules.

 Choose a suitable, safe and level place to install your machine.

 Carry out the installation and connection of your machine by following

the instructions.

 This machine should be installed and repaired by an authorised service

Engineer only.

 Only original spare parts should be used with the machine.

 Before installing, be sure that the machine is unplugged.

 Check whether the indoor electrical fuse system is connected

according to the regulations.

 All electrical connections must match the values indicated on the rating

plate.

 Ensure that the appliance is not standing on the electricity supply

cable.

 Never use an extension cord or a multiple socket for connection to the

power supply. The plug should be easily accessible after the machine

has been installed.

 After installing the machine to a suitable place, run it unloaded for the

first time.

 This machine is for household use, do not use it for any other purpose.

Commercial usage of the dishwasher will void the guarantee.

 Do not load your machine above its capacity; only wash items which

are suitable for dishwashing.

 Do not place a load on the open door of the dishwasher, it may fall over

or damage the hinge.

 Only use detergents, rinse aid or salt specifically designed for use in a

dishwasher. Swan will not be responsible for any damage that might

occur in your machine otherwise.

 The water in the machine's washing section is not suitable for drinking .

 Due to danger of explosion, do not put into the machine’s washing

section any chemical dissolving agents such as solvents.

 Check whether plastic items are heat-resistant before washing them in

the machine.

 Do not put into your machine those items which are not suitable for

dishwashing. Also, do not fill any basket above its capacity.

 Do not open the appliance door during a wash cycle, as potential very

hot water could leak from the machine.

 Do not leave your dishwasher’s door open.

 Place knives and other sharp-ended objects in the cutlery basket in the

blade-down position.

 This appliance can be used by children aged from 8 years and above

and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or

lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision

or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and

understand the hazards involved.

 After removing the machine’s packaging, make sure that the packaging

material is out of reach of children.

 Do not allow children to play with or start the machine.

 Keep your children away from detergents and rinse aids.

 Keep children away from the machine while it is open.

 Any malfunction in the machine should be repaired by Manufacturer

authorised repair agents, otherwise the warranty will be void.

 Prior to any repair work on the machine, be sure that the machine is

unplugged.

 Do not pull by the cable when unplugging.

 For energy and water saving, remove dried on residues on the dishes

before placing the dishes into the machine.

 Use the pre-wash programme only whenever necessary.

 Place such hollow items as bowls, glasses and pots into the machine in

such a way that they will face down.

 You are recommended not to load into your machine any dishes

different or more than indicated.

 Cigarette ashes, candle leftovers, polish, chemical substances, iron-

alloy materials;

 Forks, spoons and knives with wooden or bone, or ivory handles; glued

items, paint, items soiled with abrasive, acidic or base chemicals

Plastic items that are not heat-resistant, copper or tin-coated

containers; should not be washed in this appliance.

 Aluminium and silver objects (they may discolour, become dull)

 Certain delicate glass types, porcelains with ornamental printed

patterns may fade even after the first wash; certain crystal items may

lose their transparency over time, adhered cutlery that is not heat-

resistant, lead crystal glasses, cutting boards, items manufactured with

synthetic fibre could be damaged.

 Absorbent items such as sponges or kitchen rags are not suitable for

dishwashing.

Electrical Safety

THIS APPLIANCE MUST BE PLUGGED INTO AN EARTHED

SOCKET.

Before switching on, make sure that the voltage of your electricity supply is

the same as that indicated on the rating plate. This product is designed to

operate on 220 - 240V AC; 50Hz. Connection to any other power source may

damage the unit.

This product may be fitted with a non - rewireable plug. If it is necessary to

change the fuse in the plug, the fuse cover must be refitted. If the fuse cover

becomes lost or damaged, the plug must not be used until a suitable

replacement obtained.

If the plug has to be changed because it is not suitable for your socket, or

becomes damaged in any way, it should be cut off and an appropriate plug

fitted following the wiring instructions below. This should be carried out by a

qualified electrician. The removed plug must be disposed of safely, as

insertion into a 13 Amp socket is likely to cause an electrical hazard.

Wiring Instructions

The wires in this mains lead are coloured in accordance with the following

code:

Blue = Neutral Brown = Live Green/Yellow= Earth

As the colours of the wires in the mains lead of this appliance may not

correspond with the coloured markings identifying the terminals in your plug,

proceed as follows (refer to the plug wiring diagram).

The wire which is coloured BLUE must be connected to the terminal which is

marked with the letter N or coloured Black.

The wire which is coloured BROWN must be connected to the terminal which

is marked with the letter L or coloured Red.

The wire which is coloured GREEN/YELLOW must be connected to the

terminal which is marked E

Positioning the machine

When determining the location of the appliance, take care to choose a place

where you can easily load and unload your dishes.

Do not put your machine in any location where there is the probability for the

room temperature to fall below 0°C.

Before positioning, take the appliance out of its packaging by following the

warnings located on the package.

Position the machine close to the water supply and drain.

Do not grip the machine by its door or panel in order to move it.

Take care to leave a small clearance on all sides of the machine so that you

can comfortably move it back and forth during cleaning.

Make sure that the water inlet and outlet hoses do not get crushed or twisted

while positioning the machine. Also, make sure that the machine is not on the

power cable.

Adjust the machine’s feet so that it can stand level and balanced. Proper

positioning of the machine ensures problem-free opening and closing of its

door.

If the door of you machine does not close properly, check if the machine is

stable; if not, adjust the feet and ensure its stable position.

The power socket must be easily accessible at all times.

Water connection

Ensure that the indoor plumbing is suitable for installing a dishwasher.

Water inlet hose

Do not use the water inlet hose of your old appliance. Always

use the new water inlet hose supplied with your machine. If

you are going to connect a new or long-unused water inlet

hose to your machine, run water through it to check for leaks.

Connect the water inlet hose directly to the water inlet tap. The

pressure supplied by the tap should be at a minimum of 0.03

Mpa and and at a maximum of 1 Mpa. After the connections

are made, the tap should be turned on fully and checked for

water tightness. For the safety of your machine, make sure to always turn off

the water inlet tap after each wash programme is finished.

Water outlet hose

The water drain hose can be connected either directly

to the water drain hole or to the sink outlet spigot. Using

a special bent pipe (if available), the water can be

drained directly into the sink via hooking the bent pipe

over the edge of the sink. The top of the outlet tube

should be at a minimum of 50cm high and no higher

than 110cm.

Before Use

Prior to using the machine for the first time remove all packaging

materials inside the machine.

Water Hardness and Refined Salt usage

Hard water can lead to poor washing performance and the build up of

limescale which overtime will not only decrease the cleaning effectiveness but

can lead to the appliance being damaged. This appliance has a built-in water

softener, which requires the addition of refined salt and water to operate.

Setting the water hardness

We recommend you contact your local water supplier for information about

the hardness of water in your area.

The appliance can be adapted to suit the type of water from your supply by:-

1. With the door ajar, hold down the Program selection button (see page

16) and turn on the appliance by pressing the on/off button.

2. Keep the program selection button pressed down until the P indicator

LEDs stop flashing. Release the Program selection button.

3. The P3 and P5 LED’s will light (factory setting indicating water

hardness level 3)*

4. Press the Program selection button repeatedly until the Hardness level

indicator (see below table) matches the water hardness level in your

area.

5. Press the On/off button to save the settings.

*The LED’s will correspond with the last saved setting, therefore if the item has been

previously used an alternative water hardness may have been set.

Filling with salt

Only use softener salt specifically produced for use in dishwashers.

Do not use table salt.

To put in softener salt, first remove the lower basket and then open the salt

compartment cap by turning it counter-clockwise.

At first fill the compartment with 1kg salt and water to overflowing level, using

the funnel (4) provided will make filling easier; refit the cap and close it.

When salt warning indicator on the control panel lights up ( after approx.

between 20-30 cycles depending on the water hardness ), repeat the above

process.

If you accidentally put too much salt in and it overflows, run a short wash

cycle with the machine empty to clear away any excess salt, otherwise

washing performance will be effected.

Loading the baskets

Before loading the basket, remove all food residues from the crockery and

empty liquids from glasses and containers.

Ensure the crockery is placed in such a way that they are stable and will not

move around during operation. Containers should be placed with the

openings facing downwards. Make sure lids, handles, trays and frying pans

do not interfere with the operation of the spray arms. Place any small items in

the cutlery basket. Plastic and non stick items will retain more water than

other items and therefore may still be slightly wet at the end of a drying cycle.

Lower basket

The lower basket should be used for larger items such as pans, lids, dishes,

salad bowls, cutlery etc. Heavily soiled items should also be placed in the

lower section, as this area has the best washing performance in the

dishwasher.

Cutlery Basket

Place the cutlery basket at the front of the lower basket, make sure it is stable

and ensure there is minimal contact between items. Larger utensils should be

placed down flat in the upper basket. Knives and other items with sharp

points should be placed in such a way that the points face downwards.

Do not let items extend through the bottom of the basket.

Upper Basket

The upper basket is designed for delicate and lightweight crockery such as

cups, saucers glasses etc.. Long stem glasses should be placed facing

downward with the stem leaning against the edge of the flip down shelves.

Contact between items or instability can lead to damage.

Avoid loading either basket in such a way that will cause either poor

washing performance or damage to items.

Unsuitable items

 Wooden items

 Crockery or glasses with delicate decoration.

 Synthetic materials

 Copper and tin items

 Items soiled with ash, wax, lubricating oil or ink.

Damage to glass and crockery can be caused by:

 Type of glass and glass production process

 Chemical composition of detergent.

 Water temperature on rinse cycle.

Tips:

 Only use glasses and porcelain guaranteed by the manufacturer as

dishwasher safe.

 Use delicate detergent suitable for crockery.

 Empty the dishwasher as soon as the wash cycle is over.

Detergent usage

Use a detergent specifically designed for use in domestic dishwashers. You

can find powder, gel and tablet detergents on the market that have been

designed for household dishwashers. Detergent should be put into the

compartment prior to starting the machine. Keep your detergents in a cool, dry

place out of reach of your children. Using too much detergent may cause

glass scratches and poor washing performance due to residue being left on

items after wash cycle as it was unable to fully dissolve. Should you need

more information concerning the detergent, please follow the manufacturer’s

guidelines.

Filling the detergent compartment

The detergent compartment is located on the inside of the door. Push the

latch to open the detergent container as shown in the image.

Detergent pod has level lines inside. It is possible to measure the right

detergent amount using these lines. Open the dishwasher detergent and pour

into the larger compartment.

If your dishes have been kept dirty for a very long time, if there is dried food

on them, or if you have a full load, pour detergent into the pre-wash

compartment (a) and start your machine. You may have to add more

detergent into your machine, depending on the degree of soil and the water

hardness level in your area.

Do not use Washing-up liquid.

Whilst Multi Functional tablets may be used with this appliance, for

optimum washing performance we recommend that you use separate

Detergent, Rinse Aid and Salt.

Rinse Aid

Rinse aid makes it easier for crockery to dry and helps prevent streaks or

marks on the crockery. The rinse aid compartment is located next to the

detergent compartment in the door. To add rinse aid, remove the rinse aid

compartment cap by turning it.

Fill the rinse aid compartment with rinse aid until the rinse aid level indicator

becomes dark; refit the cap and close it.

A dark indicator b means that there is rinse aid in the compartment, while a

light indicator a shows that you need to fill the compartment with rinse aid.

The rinse aid level adjuster can be set to a position between 1 and 6. Factory

setting for rinse aid is 3. You will need to increase the adjuster if water stains

form on your dishes after a wash, whereas you will need to decrease if a blue

stain is left when wiped by hand.

Only use products which have been specifically designed for

dishwashers.

If you do not add rinse aid the indicator light will remain on.

First use

Load the appliance as per “Before use” instructions (keep the door ajar).

1. Turn the power on by pressing the On/off button.

2. Press the Program selection button repeatedly until the required

program no. appears on the Program display (see program table page

17).

3. Close the door. The program will start automatically.

4. Once the program has finished the end of program light will illuminate

and the appliance will give notification beeps.

5. It is now OK to open the door and remove the crockery and utensils.

Changing a program

1. Open the door

2. Select the desired program using the Program selection button.

3. Close the door and the new program will commence automatically.

Changing the program during use

1. Open the door (slightly at first to avoid water spillage).

2. Keep the program selection button pressed for 3 seconds and the end

of program indicator will flash.

3. Close the door and the machine will drain in about 30 seconds. Once

the appliance beeps 5 times, it is ready to be reprogrammed.

3. Eco – Longest cycle, but most energy efficient for normal loads.

4. Quick – 30 minute wash for lightly soiled dishes.

5. Pre wash – Rinse to loosen residue awaiting a full load.

Optimum performance from all programs can be achieved by respecting the specified number of place settings.

Delay Timer button

You can delay the commencement of the program by either 3,6 or 9 hours.

Press the button until the required LED lights up on the panel.

Care and Maintenance

When the product is not in use, turn off the water supply and unplug the

appliance.

Cleaning

 Unplug the appliance.

 The external surfaces of the machine and the control panel can be

cleaned using a non-abrasive cloth which has been dampened with

water. Do not use solvents or abrasive products.

 Any marks on the inside of the appliance may be removed using a

cloth dampened with water and a little vinegar.

Preventing unpleasant odours

 Always keep the door of the appliance ajar in order to avoid moisture

from forming and being trapped inside the machine.

 Clean the seals around the door and detergent dispensers regularly

using a damp sponge. This will avoid food becoming trapped in the

seals, which is the main cause behind the formation of unpleasant

odours.

Cleaning the spray arms

Check whether or not the holes for the upper and lower spray arms are

clogged. If there is any clogging, remove the spray arms and rinse them under

a tap and gently clean with a non-metallic brush. You can remove the lower

spray arm by pulling it upwards, while the upper spray arm nut can be

removed by turning the nut to the left. Be sure that the nut is perfectly

tightened when refitting the upper spray arm.

Cleaning the Filters

The filters are located underneath the lower spray arm on the inside of the

appliance.

The filter assembly consists of three filters:-

a. Fine filter

b. Coarse filter

c. Metal/plastic filter

Check if any food waste has remained on the coarse and fine filters. If any

food wastes are left, remove the filters and clean them thoroughly under a tap.

To remove and the filter combination, turn it counter clockwise and take it out

by lifting upwards. Pull and remove the metal/plastic filter.

Refit the metal/plastic filter. Insert the coarse filter into the micro filter so that

the marks correspond to one another. Insert the micro filter into the

metal/plastic filter and turn to the direction of arrow, it is locked when the

arrow on micro filter is aligned.

Never use your dishwasher without any filter.

Incorrect fitting of the filter will reduce the washing effectiveness.

Clean filters are very important in terms of washing efficiency.

Troubleshooting

Failure Codes

If your appliance fails to operate, check the following table to see if any of the

Other potential issues/solutions

By reading this instruction manual and following the instructions

many of the following issues can be avoided. Solutions to the

problems can also be found within this manual.

If the programme won’t start

 Check if the plug is connected.

 Check your house fuses.

 Check the water inlet tap is turned on.

 Check the door is fully closed.

 Check the appliance is turned on.

 Check there is power to the electricity supply.

 Check the water inlet filter and the machine filters are not clogged.

Water is left inside the appliance

 Water drain hose is clogged or twisted.

 The filters are clogged.

 Washing cycle has not completed.

Appliance stops during operation

 Power failure.

 Water inlet failure.

 Pause button has accidentally been pressed.

Appliance making banging noises during operation

 Dishes placed incorrectly.

 Spray arm hitting the dishes.

Food deposits/residue left on the crockery after the program has

finished

 Dishes incorrectly loaded into the machine and water could not reach

all required areas.

 Basket over-loaded.

 Dishes leaning against one another.

 Not enough detergent used.

 An unsuitable wash programme selected.

 Spray arm clogged.

 Filters clogged.

 Filters incorrectly fitted.

 Water drain pipe is clogged.

A whitish stain is left on the dishes after a program has finished

 Rinse aid dosage setting at a very low level.

 There is either no salt or not enough salt in the machine.

 Water softener setting is too low.

 Salt compartment cap not closed properly.

Dishes not dry after program

 Prewash program does not have a dry function.

 Rinse aid dosage set too low

 Dishes unloaded before the end of the cycle.

Rust stains on the dishes

 Cutlery/items not suitable for dishwashing.

 Salt compartment cap not closed properly.

 Salt overflowing into the machine while filling it with salt.
