DP33 Pump
60:1, 3+3, Air-operated, Grease
General
The DP33 Pump is a compressed air-operated reciprocating piston pump designed to pump all types
of mineral greases. Suitable for installations with medium length piping to supply up to three grease
outlets simultaneously. This pump is mounted directly on 120 lb and 400 lb drums.
Operation
This pump is self-priming. To prime it the fi rst time, connect the air supply to the pump while keeping
the outlet gun opened and increase the air pressure from 0 to the desired pressure slowly using a
pressure regulator. Once grease starts owing through all the outlets, the pump is primed. The pump
starts to pump automatically when the outlet valve is opened. (Note: It is important that the lower
valve does not come into contact with contaminated surfaces, such as a workshop fl oor, as it may
become contaminated with dirt or foreign particles that can damage the pump mechanism.)
Technical Data
Maximum Air Pressure 140 psi (10 bar)
Minimum Air Pressure 40 psi (3 bar)
Maximum Delivery @ 100 psi 2.6 lb (1200 gr/min)
Air Inlet Thread 3/8” BSP
Grease Outlet Thread 3/8” BSP
Air Piston Diameter 3” (75mm)
Air Piston Stroke 3” (75mm)
Installation
To install the pump on the drum, use the
included bung adapter. Fasten the cover
(part #F1936 for 120 lb keg and part #F1938
for 400 lb drum) onto the drum and screw the
nut of the bung adapter into the 2” bung
opening of the cover. Insert the pump through
the nut and fi x it with the star nut to the desired
height.
Always keep fi ngers and hands away from
moving parts. Do not dent or damage the
riser tube.
Ensure that the mounting surface and
attachments are strong enough to
support the lift and pump assembly
during operation.

Typical Layout
See drawing below for typical layout with all the recommended accessories for the pump to operate
correctly. The compressed air supply must be fi xed between 40 and 140 psi (3 and 10 bar). The
recommended pressure is 90 psi (6 bar). An air shut-off valve must be installed to be able to close
the compressed air line at the end of the day (if the air inlet is not closed and there is leakage in
some point of the grease outlet circuit, the pump will start automatically, emptying the container).

Maintenance
Separate the Air Motor from the Pump
1. Attach the pump to a vice in horizontal position, securing it by the suction tube. Unthread the air
motor from the suction tube (44) and pull out the air motor until the pin (34) becomes visible.
2. Remove the pin and unthread the rod (43) until its free. (See drawing on right.)
Replace the Air Distributor
1. Unthread the plug (23) and remove the circlip (13), the muffl er (14) and the
muffl er support (15).
2. Remove the distributor axle (21).
3. Unthread the screw (8) completely and carefully remove the distributor bushing (16).
4. Lubricate the new distributor bushing (16) with its O-rings, insert it from the side of the plug
(23) and hold something to stop it at the side of the muffl er (14). Be very careful not to damage
the bushing (16) or the O-rings.
Clean the Muffl er
1. Unthread the fi lter plug (19) and remove the muffl er (18).
2. Clean the muffl er (18) carefully and replace it in position; reinstall the fi lter plug (19).
Replace the Air Motor Seal
1. Unthread the plug (1) and remove the cover (2). Unthread the nut (3) and remove the washer
(4), the guide ring (5) and the air escape ring (11) with their O-rings, and the washers (10).
2. Unthread the screws (20) and remove the inverter head (17).
3. Unthread the inverter rod (24) and remove the O-rings (6).
4. Unthread the screws (37), remove the air cylinder (28) and take out the piston assembly
(25, 32 and 40).
5. Replace the damaged parts and assemble following previous instructions, reversing each step.
Replace the Packing Set
1. Follow steps 1 through 5 of the Air Motor Seals procedure.
2. Remove the circlip (35) and take out the packing set body (42).
3. Remove the outlet valve (44) from the current packing set and put it on the new packing set.
4. Assemble the pump following previous instructions, reversing each step.
Clean or Replace the Foot Valve
1. Remove the threaded plug (73) and the fi lter (72), unthread the nut (71) from the priming rod
and remove the primer (70).
2. Push in the priming rod (50) and unthread the priming tube (69) using the provided holes
and remove it.
3. Take out the components of the valve (63-66) and clean them carefully, replace any if damaged.
4. Assemble the pump following the previous instructions, reversing each step.
Refer to page 5 for parts reference.
Before starting any kind of maintenance
or repair, disconnect the compressed air
supply and open a downstream valve to
relieve the grease pressure.
Remove pin and unthread the rod

Clean or Replace the Upper Valve
1. Unthread and remove the foot valve tube (61) from the pump tube (50) and take out the
connection rod (52) together with the high pressure piston (56).
2. Gently push out the packing assembly (57-60) from the pump tube (50) using a ø19mm tube and
clean it carefully, replace any if damaged.
3. Remove the pin that holds the connection rod (52) to the high pressure piston (56) and unthread
the piston. Take out the components of the upper valve (53-55) and clean them carefully, replace
any if damaged.
4. Assemble the pump following the previous instructions, reversing each step.
Troubleshooting
Symptom Possible Cause Remedy
The pump is not working or
there is no grease delivery.
Not enough air supply pressure. Slowly increase the air supply
pressure.
Some outlet line component is clogged or
closed.
Clean or open the outlet circuit.
There are air pockets in the grease inlet
area.
Stir and compact the grease.
The pump begins to operate very fast. The drum is empty or the grease level is
beneath the suction tube inlet.
Replace the drum or lower the
suction tube until the inlet reaches
below the grease level.
The pump runs on continuously
after the grease outlet is closed.
There is a grease leak in some point of
the outlet circuit.
Verify and tighten or repair.
Grease is leaking through the
outlet muffl er.
Grease has by-passed to the air motor
caused by worn or damaged packing set.
Replace the worn or damaged parts.
Air is leaking through the
outlet muffl er.
The O-rings of the distributor axle (21) or
the bushings (16) are worn or damaged.
Replace the axle assembly (21) and/
or bushing assembly (16).
The inverter O-rings are worn
or damaged.
Replace the inverter O-rings.
Decrease of the grease delivery. Dirt in upper valve or the foot valve. Dismount and clean, replace
if damaged.
Dirt in muffl er (18). Dismount and clean/replace muffl er.
