GENERAL
This installation instruction covers installation of NAFEM cables whitch may have been ordered
either with the gateway or without the gateway.
INSTALLATION

WARNING: DISCONNECT THE ELECTRICAL POWER TO THE MACHINE AND FOLLOW LOCKOUT
/ TAGOUT PROCEDURES. THERE MAY BE MULTIPLE CIRCUITS. BE SURE THAT ALL CIRCUITS
ARE DISCONNECTED.
CAUTION: Certain components in this system are subject to damage due to electrostatic
discharge. A Field Service Grounding Kit, part number TL-84919 is available to prevent this
damage. The Field Service Grounding Kit must be used when any electronic boards or cables
are handled.
STEP 1. Remove the screws in the corner of the control drawer. Pull the drawer forward until
it is fully extended open.
STEP 2. Insert the NAFEM cable into the tubing and feed it through until it emerges at the other
end (Fig. 1).

STEP 3. Guide the cable and tubing through the drawer area, starting at the back near the
vacuum breaker, until it appears out the front of the drawer (Figs. 2, 3).

STEP 4. With a wire tie, secure the cable and tubing to the sensor harness and cut the excess
wire tie (Figs. 4, 5).

STEP 5. Plug the cable into the RS485 connector on the control board (similar in appearance
to a telephone connector (Figs. 6, 7).

STEP 7. With a 3/8" nut driver, remove the lock nut that anchored the wire tie to the stud (Fig. 9).
STEP 6. On the back of the machine, cut the wire tie located near the vacuum breaker that
anchors the sensor harness to the back wall of the machine (Fig. 8).

STEP 9. Place eyelet over stud and secure with lock nut (Fig. 11). Trim excess wire tie (Fig. 12).
STEP 8. Wrap a new wire tie with an eyelet around the sensor harness and cable tubing; tighten
the wire tie (Fig. 10).

STEP 11. Connect the free end of the cable to the Y-Adapter Connector.
STEP 12. For all other remaining connections, refer to layout F-35316 located under the section
titled "NAFEM Gateway Architecture — Possible Configurations" in the
NAFEM Gateway
Instruction Manual
, Form 35374. Follow all necessary Warnings and Electrical specifications
outlined in the
NAFEM Gateway Instruction Manual
, Form 35374.
STEP 10. Verify that no wires or cables are pinched when the drawer is closed (Fig. 13). Secure
drawer with screws.

STEP 1. Remove the right side access panel and the front access panel. Open the control panel
door.
STEP 2. Insert the NAFEM cable into the tubing and feed it through until it emerges at the other
end (Fig. 14).

STEP 3. Pull the cable through the tubing so that 26 inches of cable is hanging from the tubing,
(Fig. 15).

STEP 4. Remove knockout on upper hole on rear access hole bracket. Insert grommet into upper
hole, (Fig. 16).

STEP 5. Guide cabling and tubing through installed grommet opening, (Fig. 17).

STEP 6. Install P-Clip on upper stud on right side of wash tank. Secure with nut, (Fig. 18).

STEP 7. Route cabling and tubing through installed P-Clip, (Fig. 19).

STEP 8. Route cabling and tubing through P-Clip line on wash tank and pan, (Fig. 20).

STEP 9. Ensure that tubing and cabling is pushed up to the first P-Clip closest to the control
panel, (Fig. 21).

STEP 10. Route cabling through the top grommet of the control panel, (Fig. 22).

STEP 11. Route cabling through P-Clip line with the probe harness on control panel, (Fig. 23).

STEP 12. Plug the cable into the RS485 connector on the control board (similar in appearance
to a telephone connector), (Fig. 24).

STEP 13. Verify that no wires or cables are pinched when closing the control panel door and
reinstalling the side and front access panels.
STEP 14. Connect the free end of the cable to the Y-Adapter connector.
STEP 15. For all other remaining connections, refer to layout F-35316 located under the section
titled "NAFEM Gateway Architecture — Possible Configurations" in the
NAFEM Gateway
Instruction Manual
, Form 35374. Follow all necessary Warnings and Electrical specifications
outlined in the
NAFEM Gateway Instruction Manual
