Important notes for installing
Before actually installing the combiner you must check that, there is enough GSM coverage: to do this just fit the
SIM-CARD you have bought for the combiner into a mobile phone to check its reception level.
If the reception level is weak, you will have to install the device elsewhere, where the signal quality is better.
It is understood that CAME is not liable in any way when it comes to unsent, unreceived or delayed sending or receiv-
ing of the Text-message from the combiner, if this is traceable the signal quality or due to any other reasons that can
be traced back tot the mobile services carrier/operator.
The SIM-CARDs of some Providers expire: we suggest taking this into account when programming the combiner.

The combiner may be programmed via the GSMMANAGER programming software.

Use the supplied pattern to mark the
fastening spots. Make sure the cho-
sen spot on the wall is level.
Drill the wall where the device will be
fastened, and fit suitable dowels for
fastening the casing.

Fit batteries (not supplied) for the

Note: The device requires that the SIM-CARDs be enabled only by voice and text message, that is, no SIM-CARD
data!).
Before fitting a new SIM-CARD into the device, first fit it into a phone and make a call, so the provider can
register the card. Before programming, disable the PIN code.

USING THE DEVICE
Record customizable voice messages via DTMF
The alarm messages that the combiner sends out generally contain the name of the system from which they originate,
and the input number that has detected the alarm. The messages are freely customizable.
The message containing the name of the system and possibly its location, has no preset wording.
Alarms messages related to inputs have the following preset voice-message wording:
Alarm Input 1, Alarm Input 2.
Customizing the identity messages and alarms
Note: Customizing voice message via DTMF, requires that the caller's number be already present in the combiner's
directory.
Recording a customized message
1. Enter the combiner's telephone number,
2. Wait for the confirmation beep from the combiner,
3. Enter the code for the command you want to execute (see the table),
4. Wait for the confirmation beep from the combiner and then say the phrase that you want to match to the command
code. The length of the recordable voice message is 10 seconds for the message having the 10 code, and it is 5
seconds for the message having the 11 and 12 codes.
5. Wait for the beep that signals the end of the recording by the combiner.
6. To play and listen to the recorded message, press the command code that you want (see the table)
COMMISSIONING
Sequence of operations to carry out
- For proper commissioning, the device must be powered up by the mains power-supply and not only by the back-up
batteries.
- When the green LED turns and stays on ( ) is means the combiner is properly powered up by the mains pow-
er-supply and that the back-up batteries are fitted. A slowly flashing green LED, means that the mains power-supply
is present but that the back-up batteries are missing.
- Once a few seconds have elapsed after powering on, the red DL1 LED on the right of the slot that contains the SIM-
CARD, will flash to alert that the device is connected to the GSM network. If the DL1 LED does not turn on or stays on
permanently, please check that: the SIM-CARD is properly fitted in the slot, that the area you have chosen to install
the device has GSM coverage, that the SIM-CARD is not PIN-code protected, and that it has not expired or has been
blocked by the operator.
- Program the device by following the instructions in the programming manual, or by using a PC running the GSMMAN-
AGER software.
- After programming the device it is important to disengage Jumper SW21 to secure the combiner's programming.
After removing the SW21 Jumper, the controls and programming will only be accepted is these come from the users
that are properly registered in the directory.
- Before closing the combiner's casing, disengage the SW22 Jumper to enable the two tamper-proof features.

Any command that is not defined in the table above, is ignored by the combiner, after 3 seconds.
Controlling the outputs via DTMF
To control the outputs via DTMF it is enough to call the combiner from any number on the directory and to enter the
commands listed below:

Reply to an alarm call
If there is an alarm for the state of the input or for a technical alert, the combiner cuts o any calls underway (remote
eavesdropping or text-message customization) and calls the contact user(if so programmed into the specific alarm).
Once communication with the user is established, the combiner repeats the alarm voice message three times and
stands by waiting for the user to reply. The reply may be given by a DTMF tone.
To reply to the call, just call the combiner and enter the commands listed below:

99 Alarm alerted: It blocks the cycle of alarm calls.
If no DTMF-code tone replies to the combiner's call, the combiner keeps making the programmed cycle of calls.

PROGRAMMING THE DEVICE VIA TEXT MESSAGE
Configuring and editing the telephone directory
The telephone directory contains up to 20 numbers that the combiner call in case of alarm. It can be configured in
three dierent ways:
from a PC by using the GSMMANAGER software. Please see the software's manual. From the keypad and screen on-
board the device by following the "Programming Manual" enclosed with the device. From text messages, in the manner
explained here below.
Adding a number to the directory
Note: the directory can hold up to 20 numbers (20 users), each of the numbers must be preceded by the interna-
tional dialing code (0039 for Italy).
THE MODNUMTEL TEXT-MESSAGE is for adding, replacing or deleting directory numbers. When the combiner re-
ceives the message and executed the command, it confirms this when the user receives a Text-message with he3
same syntax as the one sent.
The syntax of the message to send is the following:
MODNUMTEL.xx.numtel. For example: MODNUMTEL.1.00393351234566.
xx = number assigned to the user in the directory (from 1 to 20).
numtel = the user's telephone number preceded by the international dialing code.
By using the following message:
MODNUMTEL._.numtel.
the added telephone number is moved to first place in the directory.
Replacing directory numbers
The syntax of the message to send is the following:
MODNUMTEL.numtel1.numtel2.
numtel1 = telephone number you wish to replace that is already in the directory.
numtel2 = the new number that you want to add to the directory to replace the old one.
Deleting the telephone number associated to a specific user
The syntax of the message to send is the following:
MODNUMTEL.xx._.
xx = number assigned to the user in the directory (from 1 to 20).
__ = command to delete a number associated to a specific user.
Deleting a telephone number from the directory
The syntax of the message to send is the following:
MODNUMTEL.numtel._.
numtel = telephone number to delete from directory.
__ = command for deleting a phone number from the directory.

Adding groups of 5 numbers to the directory
Note: the directory can hold up to 20 numbers (20 users), each of the numbers must be preceded by the interna-
tional dialing code (0039 for Italy).
The PROGNUMTEL1, PROGNUMTEL2, PROGNUMTEL3, PROGNUMTEL4 , text-messages, let you simultaneously
add blocks of 5 users/numbers by using just one text-message.
The syntax of the message to send is the following:
PROGNUMTEL1.numtel1. numtel2. numtel3. numtel4. numtel5.
numtel1 = number assigned to user 1.
numtel2 = number assigned to user 2
numtel3 = number assigned to user 3, and so on.

Request information on residual credit via text-message
Note: Telephony providers give information on residual credit left on the card if users request this using specific
procedures. Some providers reply to pre-configured Text messages that contain command strings, while others
reply to calls with text messages. That is why it is best to know the wording of the message or the number that
needs to be called to receive information on credit from your provider.
If the Provider requires that the request be sent via text-message, then use the CREDIT command followed by the spe-
cific string required by the provider and by the number to which it is sent (for example CREDIT.PRE CRE SIN.+40916.
to know the credit left on a TIM SIM-CARD).
If the Provider requires that the residual credit be requested by a phone call to a specific number, then use the CREDIT1
command followed by the number to call (for example CREDIT1.+404. to know the residual credit on a VODAFONE
SIM-CARD).
If the Provider requires that the residual credit be managed via a USDD string, then use the CREDIT2 command fol-
lowed by the number (or string) to call (for example CREDIT2.*123#. to know the residual credit on a WIND SIM-CARD).

A CLIP function lets you control single outputs, remotely and receive the corresponding confirmation at no extra cost.
The syntax of the message to send is the following:

X = the user number to whom to assign the CLIP function; the available values are: between1 and 20.
Y = output to which to associate the CLIP function; the available values are: NO, U1, U2, U3, U4.

Request for state of the device's inputs
Note: the default programming requires that all inputs be active around the clock, so that the combiner is always
ready to operate. When using a dierent programming of the inputs, it may be useful to use an ENGAGED/DISEN-
GAGED logic.
The syntax of the message to send is the following:

GENERAL POINTS ON PROGRAMMING THE COMBINER
The following parameters can be configured via GSMMANAGER software, via Text-message or keypad or via the com-
biner's on-board screen.
For a detailed description of the meaning and various options available for each parameter, please see the supplied
"Programming Manual" or the GSMMANAGER software.
Programming users
There are 20 available users. You can configure the following parameters for each these users:
Code The code assigned to users enables them to access the programming, to engage and disengage the equipment,
to stop the calling cycle and to use the burglar alarm control-unit function.
Telephone number It defines the telephone number (assigned to the user) to which alarm messages are sent as
defined by the user.
Priorities Each user is give a priority level which defines which types of operations they are cleared to carry out.
The priority levels follow the scheme below.

Receive text-messages from the provider You can define whether users are to receive, from the combiner,
text-messages sent by the Provider. These could be credit-related or SIM-CARD expiry-alert messages.
Engaging/disengaging the combiner via text-message
This control lets you engage or disengage the system is the inputs logic has been changed.
The syntax of the message to send is the following:
ARCE.X.
X = command to execute; the available values are: IN and DI.
The available replies are:
Ring = engaged successfully;SYSTEM NOT READY = system not ready.

Alarm alerts An alert mode is defined for each user and for each type of alarm. The type of message and the type
of alarm are listed in the table.

(*) The sending of the "Battery Missing" alert means the combiner, in stand-by mode, has 20 minutes left of
power supply.
NOTE. When programming, the sending of any alarm is blocked. The device automatically exits the programming
mode after a couple minutes of inactivity.
CLIP FUNCTION With just one, free-of-charge ring, the combiner can activate an output for each user.
CLIP ALERT Users sending out CLIP alerts can receive confirmation alerts by a confirmation ring or a text message.
Customizing the Text-message wording
The wording of the text messages triggered by the restoring or activation of each of the combiner's outputs, can be
customized.
The default values are:
Input 1 alarm;Input 2 alarm,
Restore Input 1;Restore Input 2,
Besides these customizable messages, the combiner can sent other specifically technical and non-customizable ones.
- Tampering,
- Missing Primary Network,
- Weak GSM signal,
- Restore after Tampering,
- Restore Primary Network.
Programming the Inputs
The number of available inputs varies depending on the combiner model:
- 2 for the GSM10 and GSM11 models,
- 4 for the GSM20 and GSM21 models.
There is a reset input for each combiner. This is for blocking the calling cycle and for engaging and disengaging the
combiner. The reset input (astable-type input) is useful when the combiner is working with a burglar alarm unit, or to
remotely control its engaging/disengaging.
You can configure the following parameters for each input:

INPUT TYPE
This parameter lets you define how the input signal will transits so the combiner interprets it as an alarm signal.
The alarm and rest buttons can be activated in four dierent ways: NC or NA, can be activated by a positive +12 Vcc
or a negative GND when giving or when missing.

INPUT FUNCTIONS
You can define which type of functions each input is to perform.
The possible values are:
Normal (NR): if the input is activated, it will trigger the sending of alarm alerts only if the combiner is engaged.
Rescue (SO):if the input is activated, it will trigger the sending of alarm alerts regardless of the state of the combiner.
Also, when the alarm voice-message is finished sending, the bi-directional eavesdropping function will be activate - this
is for specifically programmed models). The other users on the list will only receive the normal alarm call. the combiner
will ignore any other activations of the input until the calling cycle ends.
24 H (24): if the input is activated, it will trigger the sending of alarm alerts, regardless of the state of the combiner.
DELAYED INPUT
This parameter lets you define whether the input is to have a delay when the alarm is armed or forwarded:
The moment that the combiner is engaged, activating a delayed input does not trigger an alarm for the duration of the
delay.
Whereas if the combiner is already engaged, activating a delayed input does not trigger an alarm if, within the duration
of the delay, the combiner is disengaged. The delay time is in any case unique, whether in input or output and can vary
between 1 and 250 seconds.
During the delay time countdown the combiner beeps (the countdown is audible) at 1 beep per second which progres-
sively become 3 beeps per second.
TEXT MESSAGE ONCE RESTORED
This parameter defines whether the combiner is to send a text-message alert once the stand-by state of the input is
restored. The text message will be sent to each user who is designated to receive this message.
ENABLING INPUTS
This parameter lets you enable or disable inputs. This function is useful for customers who wish to temporarily disable
certain inputs, for maintenance let's say, or for a period of time.
FILTER
This functions lets you define whether the combiner is to apply a filter of between 0 to 255 seconds to the alarm alerts.
If the set parameter is“0”, regardless of the duration, activating the input will trigger the alarm condition, at least for

0.2 second). If the set parameter is "1 to 250" the combiner will only provide alerts for alarms that equal the preset
value in seconds.
PARTIAL
During a partial engagement, activating only the so-called partial inputs, will trigger an alarm condition while the so-
called non-partial inputs will be ignored.
This condition is only true for "Normal", "Rescue" or "24 h" type inputs, and will trigger alarms even with partial en-
gagements.
Programming the outputs
The GSM combiner features four, 100 mA, Open Collector outputs plus a 1 A relay output dedicated to malfunction
alerts.
You can configure the following parameters for each Output:
OUTPUT TYPE
You can define the type of operation for each output (as follower or as impulsive).
A follower output stays activated for the time the event, that trigger its activation, is happening.
Whereas an impulsive output is activated by the presence of the even, but stays active only for the programmed acti-
vation time. The output will stay in any case operational even if, during said time, the cause of the output's activation
is restored
ACTIVATION EVENT
For each output, you can define whether the output can be remotely controlled by users (remote activation) or rather,
by single events.
The available events are:
- None (NO),
- Alarm from Input 1 (I1),
- Alarm from Input 2 (I2),
- Tampering (MA),
- Missing mains power-supply (MR),
- Weak GSM (GB),
- Combiner Engaged (IN),
- Partial Engagement (IP),
- Disengaged Combiner (DI),
- Remote Activation (AR),
ACTIVE OUTPUT
This parameter lets you enable or disable the previously selected output.
This function is useful when you want to temporarily deactivate the outputs, for example, for maintenance, or for a
duration, when the output is unused.
