What Is the AXON body System?
The AXON body™ camera is a wearable camera system incorporating an audio and video recording device. This
camera is designed for use in tough environmental conditions encountered in law enforcement, corrections,
military, and security activities. The AXON body camera is designed to record events in real time for secure
storage, retrieval, and analysis via the EVIDENCE.com services or in an oine conguration to your local
computer. The recorded events are transferred to your storage solution via the secure evidence transfer
manager (ETM) or by using EVIDENCE Sync software installed on a Windows computer.
The AXON body camera has two operating modes designed to accommodate the needs of law enforcement,
corrections, security, and the military. The default mode, or BUFFERING mode, provides pre-event buering
to capture activities that occur prior to the user activating the EVENT mode. In addition, the AXON® Mobile
application enables playback of footage on a smart phone for review prior to storing the data. (For more
information, see the AXON Mobile Application for Android Devices User Manual or AXON Mobile Application for
iOS Devices User Manual, as appropriate.)
Instructional videos for using AXON systems are available at www.TASER.com under Training Videos.

Accessories
The AXON body camera is designed to be worn in a holster that can be clipped to your shirt. The holster
incorporates a plug that goes into the cameras ETM connection socket when the camera is holstered. The plug
is intended to lter excessive ambient noise and prevent dust debris from entering the socket.
Additional holster options are available. Visit www.TASER.com for more information.
CAUTION
Keep the plug inserted into the ETM connection socket. If the plug is not plugged into the socket, audio
recording will be distorted.

Account Setup for EVIDENCE.com 3
This chapter describes preparing your EVIDENCE.com account for use with your AXON body camera. An
EVIDENCE.com account is required to upload data from the camera to the EVIDENCE.com services. Even if your
department does not upload data to EVIDENCE.com, your agency administrator still needs an EVIDENCE.com
account to use the AXON system and congure your AXON body camera.
To register a user account:
Follow the instructions in EVIDENCE.com Registration.
Install the EVIDENCE Sync software on your computer, as described in Installing the EVIDENCE Sync Software
onto your Computer.
Unless your agency administrator has assigned your camera to you, follow the instructions in Assigning Your
AXON Equipment.
EVIDENCE.com Registration
Before using your AXON hardware, you must register and have a user account with EVIDENCE.com. After your
agency administrator signs you up, you should receive an email invitation from EVIDENCE.com. Follow these
steps:
1 Using your desktop or laptop computer, click the link in the user invitation e-mail message sent to you by
your agency.
2 Follow the onscreen instructions.
3 Log into the site.
Once you have set up your user account on EVIDENCE.com, you will be active in the system. For more details on
EVIDENCE.com registration, please contact your agencys EVIDENCE.com administrator.
Installing the EVIDENCE Sync Software onto your Computer
After accessing your EVIDENCE.com account, you will need to install the EVIDENCE Sync software on your
computer. EVIDENCE Sync is software used to manage your AXON videos. It can download records from your
AXON body camera to your computer, or upload records from the camera to the EVIDENCE.com cloud website.
9
Chapter 3 Account Setup for EVIDENCE.com
CAUTION
Do NOT plug the USB cable into the computer at this step. If you attempt to connect your AXON body
camera to your computer before you have installed the EVIDENCE Sync software, you will have to use
the Windows Device Manager to manually point the camera to the drivers.
1 Start your web browser and sign into your departments EVIDENCE.com webpage. If you do not know your
agencys EVIDENCE.com address, consult your agency administrator.
2 From the Help drop-down menu, select Download Sync.
3 Start Evidence_SYNC_Setup.exe.
4 If asked “Do you want to run this le?” click Run.
5 Follow the wizard’s instructions to complete EVIDENCE Sync installation.
Assigning Your AXON Equipment
If your role is set to User, and your agency administrator has not already assigned your camera to you, follow
these steps:
1 Start the EVIDENCE Sync software.
2 Sign in using your EVIDENCE.com username and password.
3 Connect the camera to your computer using the 2.5 mm to USB cable.
4 Type your name and click OK to assign the camera to yourself.
NOTE: After this step is complete, your camera can now upload to the EVIDENCE.com website directly
through the ETM. The next time you dock this camera to the ETM, the system will recognize the AXON
body camera as assigned to you, and upload the data to the appropriate location on EVIDENCE.com.
5 Click the Device Settings tab to review and conrm the proper camera settings.
Agency-level settings can be changed on the EVIDENCE.com website, but not on a local computer using
EVIDENCE Sync software. Agency-level settings can only be congured by an agency administrator.
Agency settings include microphone and video conguration.
User-level settings, like the orientation setting that rotates the video to match the side of the body on
which the ocer wears the camera, can be changed either on the EVIDENCE.com website or on a local
computer with the EVIDENCE Sync software.
6 If you change any settings, click SAVE for new settings to be applied.
7 Disconnect the camera from the computer.
10
Setting up the AXON body Camera for
the Oline Mode 4
If your agency does not store videos on EVIDENCE.com, you will instead download your les to a computer. You
will still need an EVIDENCE.com account and the EVIDENCE Sync software. See the EVIDENCE.com Registration
and Installing the EVIDENCE Sync Software onto your Computer instructions in Chapter 3: Account Setup for
EVIDENCE.com before performing the procedures in this chapter.
NOTE:
Administrator access is required to perform the procedures in this chapter.
You will not be able to use an evidence transfer manager (ETM) when your AXON body camera is in the
oine mode. You will have to use a USB cable to transfer data and recharge the battery. (A wall outlet cable
also can be used to recharge the battery. See the Charging the Battery instructions in Chapter 9 Care and
Maintenance for more information.)
Setting Cameras to Oine Mode at the Agency Level

1 Start your web browser and sign into your department’s EVIDENCE.com webpage.
2 Click Settings and select Video Settings.
3 Click the Enable Oine for AXON check box.
4 Read the agreement. You must have your agencys authorization to accept this agreement. If you do not
agree with the terms or do not have authority to make such an agreement, do not perform this procedure.
CAUTION
By accepting the agreement, the agency agrees to accept all liability and responsibility for and not hold
TASER liable for the agency's data transferred and stored in the oine mode, for chain of custody of this
data, or for any lost data.
5 Click OK.
6 Click Save Settings.
7 Click OK.
11
Chapter 4 Setting up the AXON body Camera for the Oine Mode
Setting Individual AXON body Cameras to Oine Mode

Recording with the AXON body Camera 5
Operating Modes
The AXON body camera has two operating modes:
1 BUFFERING
2 EVENT
BUFFERING Mode
1 Move the ON/OFF switch on the camera to the ON position.
With the camera turned on, the AXON system is in the BUFFERING mode. When BUFFERING begins:
The Operation LED on the controller will blink green.
The camera will be capturing video but no audio, and will not record to permanent memory while in
BUFFERING mode.
Buered video duration is up to 30 seconds (00:00:30).
When you activate the EVENT mode, the buered video (not audio) captured directly before the event, up to 30
seconds, will be saved and attached to the event in permanent memory. This feature is intended to capture the
video of an incident just before your activation of EVENT mode.
13
Chapter 5 Recording with the AXON body Camera
CAUTION
Because the system does not capture audio in BUFFERING mode, the rst 30 seconds of a recorded event
will be video-only. Buering mode starts only after the AXON body camera is turned on. The system
does not record when the camera is turned o.
EVENT Mode
1 When you need to record, quickly double-press the EVENT button on the camera.
The system now records audio as well as video. The “buered” video directly preceding the event will be
saved and attached to the event recording. (Remember, the buered video will not contain audio.) The
moment you double-press the EVENT button, both video and audio will be recorded from the camera and
GPS coordinates (if the system is paired to a GPS-capable smart phone) will be recorded. This will continue
throughout the duration of the recording until you terminate the recording.
The camera provides you with indications that it is recording in EVENT mode:
At the start of an event and every 2 minutes during an event, the system will beep twice.
The Operation LED on top of the controller will blink red.
2 To stop recording and return to BUFFERING mode, press and hold the EVENT button for approximately 3
seconds. The system will beep once.
3 To end a recording and turn o the system, move the on/o switch to the o position. When you end
a recording with the on/o switch you will not go into BUFFERING mode, instead the system will turn o
completely.
NOTE: An event not recorded by the camera cannot be played back or downloaded to your computer.
Battery Status
Press the Battery button to determine the percentage remaining in the battery. See Chapter 2 Getting to Know
Your AXON body Camera for details on the Battery LED functions.
Adjusting the Volume

Cleaning the AXON body Camera
Use a soft, damp cloth to clean the surface of the AXON body camera. Do not use harsh cleaners or solvents.
Do not immerse the AXON body camera in water or cleaning solutions.
If the AXON body camera lens becomes dirty, use a lens blower brush to clean it and then wipe it with a soft
cloth if necessary.
You may moisten the cloth with isopropyl alcohol.
Do not use Windex® or similar type cleaners on the camera lens.
Do not place the lens under running water or apply jets of water to the camera lens.
Charging the Battery
A fully charged camera battery should provide enough power for approximately 12 hours of normal operation.
Recharging a battery after a 12-hour use can take up to 6 hours if you are recharging your AXON body camera
from a wall outlet or an ETM. Recharging could take considerably longer if you are recharging from a computer.
If the battery depletes signicantly during use, you will hear 4 quick tones repeating every 20 seconds. This
message indicates that less than approximately 20 percent of the battery capacity remains.
Always recharge a depleted battery as soon as reasonably possible. You can use an ETM, wall charger, or
computer to charge the battery. Using a non-TASER approved wall charger may degrade device performance
and will void the warranty.
