UPTATING SOFTWARE ON CKN COMMAND CONSOLE
CKN command console is driven by Atmel microcontroller (T89C51RD2, AT89C51RD2 or
AT89C51ED2). Basically, programming CKN is programming Atmel microcontroller. Fort this action
you need:
1. CKN command console (picture 1 and 2)
2. Serial DB9 cable for connecting PC and CKN. If other pins than ordinary RS232 on pin 2, 3 and 5
on CKN D-SUB9 connectors are used you shouldn’t use full serial cable. In that case shall be used
3-wire cable that connects following pins: 2<->2, 3<->3 5<->5
3. Software for programming: ATMEL FLIP 3.4.7, can be downloaded from:
http://www.microchip.com/Developmenttools/ProductDetails/FLIP
4. Appropriate new software for CKN console (file with .hex extension in attachment of e-mail)

Step 1: Preparing for programming:
-Disconnect CKN from DC source, open the case and connect ‘Programming jumper’ (Jumper PRG,
near the microcontroller, by default it is open)
-Connect serial cable to CKN (picture 2) and to a COM port on PC case.
-Connect DC source to CKN and preparing phase is over.

Step 2: Programming phase
-Determine microcontroller type. It’s AT89C51ED2
-Open FLIP V 3.4.7 main window. On menu bar go to Device/ Select (picture 4.).

Select from the list appropriate microcontroller. In our case it is AT89C51ED2 (picture 5).
-Than again on menu bar go to Settings/Communication/RS232. Select COM port where CKN is
connected and set baud rate to 19200 or more. (Picture 6.).

-From menu bar select File/Load HEX and pick appropriate hex file. On main Flip window click Run.
-Disconnect CKN from DC source. Disconnect Jumper PRG (back to default position). Disconnect
serial cable and CKN console is ready for use.
