Signal Communications SC8-ADTX Radio Fire Alarm
The Radio Fire Alarm Box consists of radio transmitter/antenna and digital control components.
The SC8-ADTX Radio Transmitter is an integral component of the Radio Fire Alarm Box system.
Please see the following statements regarding the installation and operation of the SC8-ADTX transmitter, the Fire
Alarm Box components, and the system antenna:
1. The Radio Fire Alarm System, including the SC8-ADTX Radio Transmitter and antenna, are not to be modified
by any party not authorized by the manufacturer of the equipment. Any changes or modifications to any
components in the system could void the user’s authority to operate the equipment. Please contact Signal
Communications corporation about system modifications.
2. This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class B digital device, pursuant to part
15 of the FCC Rules. These limits are designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference in
a residential installation. This equipment generates, uses, and can radiate radio frequency energy and, if not
installed and used in accordance with the instructions, may cause harmful interference to radio communications.
However, there is no guarantee that interference will not occur in a
particular installation. If this equipment does cause harmful interference to radio or television reception, which
can be determined by turning the equipment off and on, the
user is encouraged to try to correct the interference by one or more ot the following measures:
Reorient or relocate the receiving antenna.
Increase the separation between the equipment and receiver.
Connect the equipment into an outlet on a circuit different from that to which the receiver is connected.

Warning: The radio antenna used for this system must be installed to provide a minimum distance of 25.55cm from
all persons.
The SC8-ADTX Radio Transmitter is an integral component of the Radio Fire Alarm Box system.
No field repairs or adjustments are allowed by the end user. A factory technician is the only person allowed to service
the Radio Fire Alarm Box. If it is decided that the SC8-ADTX Radio If the transmitter is not operating properly, replace
the transmitter as follows.
Completely power down the Fire Radio Alarm Box
Loosen but do not remove the 2 screws securing the SC8-ADTX transmitter to the backplate
Slide the transmitter sideways to remove it from the backplate.
Disconnect the Antenna cable connector from the transmitter
Disconnect the Power/Signal connector from the transmitter
Install a new transmitter which is factory programmed to the same channel frequency
Connect the Antenna cable to the new transmitter through an In-Line Wattmetter with a 2.5 Watt element rated
for 72-76 MHz.
Connect the Power/Signal connectors to the new transmitter
Place the new transmitter onto the backplate by sliding the mounting tabs under the
Screws and tighten the screws to secure the new transmitter to the backplate
Power the Radio Fire Alarm Box and verify that the transmitter is working properly by reading 1W RF power
burst 1 second in duration (repeated twice)
After verifying proper operation, disconnect the In-Line Wattmeter and connect the antenna cable directly to the
SC8-ADTX transmitter.
