Product Overview
The RocketStor 6421AS is a professional-grade, high-density Hardware RAID solution
designed for Windows, Mac and Linux Platforms, and Capacity-optimized Storage
applications; media libraries, Nearline Archiving Storage, and Server & Workstation
Storage.
The RocketStor 6421AS bundle package includes an enclosure for housing your
physical drives and a RAID Controller to manage and create RAID arrays of different
levels.

Preparing the Enclosure
1. Remove a HDD tray from the enclosure and place a hard drive into the tray as
shown below. Fasten the HDD to the tray using the supplied screws and slide the
tray back into the enclosure. Repeat for each drive tray.
2. Optional: You can lock each HDD tray with the included disk tray key.
3. Place the enclosure on a server rack or another stable, flat surface.
4. Connect the enclosure to a power source using the AC Power Cord.
5. Connect the enclosure to the included RocketRAID 4522 using the mini-SAS to
mini-SAS cable (SFF-8088).

RocketRAID ports.

Preparing the RAID HBA (Host Bus Adapter)
The following procedure describes how to prepare your RocketRAID4522 HBA for use.
To install your RocketRAID 4522:
Important: Before installing the RocketRAID 4522 Controller, ensure that your system
is powered OFF.
1. Locate a PCIe 2.0 x8 slot (or compatible slot) on your system’s motherboard.
Note 1: Refer to your system manual for instructions on how to access your
motherboard.
Note 2: Refer to your motherboard’s manual for instructions on how to
locate an appropriate PCI Express slot.
2. Align the RocketRAID4522 with the PCIe slot and gently push straight down until
card is fully seated.
3. Tighten the connection by fastening the RocketRAID bracket and enclosure
together.
A PCI-Express 2.0 x8 card is compatible with PCI-Express 2.0 x16 and PCI-Express 3.0
x16 slots.

Driver Installation
Drivers provide a way for your operating system to communicate with your new
hardware. Updating to the latest available driver ensures your product benefits from
the most recent performance, stability, and compatibility improvements. Drivers are
updated regularly at www.highpoint-tech.com
1. Obtain the latest driver software for the RocketStor 6421AS from our website:
http://highpoint-tech.com/USA_new/series-rs6421as-download.htm
2. Take note of the location you downloaded the driver file to and open Windows
Device Manager.
3. Click Start
4. Click the search filed and type Control Panel.

8. Under Other Devices, right click on RAID controller and click Update Driver

Checking your Driver Version
To check if the driver was installed successfully follow the instructions below. The
same procedure can be used to determine your driver version.
1. Click Start
2. Click Control Panel
3. Click Hardware and Sound
4. To the right of Devices and Printer, Click Device Manager
5. Note: Alternatively, you can search Device Manager using your start menu search
bar.
6. Click the Storage controllers tab:
If the driver is installed, it will show RocketRAID 4522 Controller.
If the driver is not installed, it will be located in Other devices as a RAID
Controller
Click Properties, then click the Driver Tab to check the version:

Updating the Drivers
1. Obtain the latest driver files for the RocketStor 6421AS from http://highpoint-
tech.com/USA_new/series-rs6421as-download.htm
2. Open Windows Device Manager
3. Click Start
4. Click Control Panel
5. Click Hardware and Sound
6. Under Devices and Printers, Click Device Manager
7. Note: Alternatively, you can search Device Manager in your start menu search bar.
8. Click the Storage controllers tab
9. Right click RocketRAID 4520 (4522) Controller
10. Click Update Driver Software
11. Click Browse my computer for driver software
12. Select the driver files you downloaded
13. Click next

Uninstalling the Drivers
1. Open Windows Device Manager
Click Start
Click Control Panel
Click Hardware and sound
Under Devices and Printers, Click Device Manager
Note: Alternatively, you can search Device Manager in your start menu search
bar.
2. Click the Storage controllers tab
3. Right click RocketRAID 4520 SAS Controller
4. Click Uninstall
5. Reboot your PC to allow the changes to take effect

Installing the HighPoint WebGUI Software
The HighPoint WebGUI is the primary link between you and your RAID array. Using the
management utilities and menus offered by the WebGUI, you will be able to access,
create, and maintain your RAID arrays.
New features are continually added to the interface; update to the latest version at
http://highpoint-tech.com/USA_new/series-rs6421as-download.htm
1. Locate the HighPoint WebGUI Setup on our website and download the WebGUI
package. Extract the contents and double click on HighPoint RAID
Management.exe
Follow the on screen steps to install the WebGUI software.

2. Log into the WebGUI by double clicking the desktop icon, or by typing
http://localhost:7402 in your preferred web browsers address line (we
recommended using the latest version of the browser.)
How to Login to the HighPoint WebGUI
You can reach the HighPoint WebGUI log in page either by:
Double clicking on the HighPoint RAID Management icon created on your desktop
Opening your preferred web browser and typing http://localhost:7402in the
address bar.
The default password is: hpt
Note: the Password is Case-Sensitive. The Username cannot be changed, but the
password can be changed under the Setting tab.
Remote Login
A user connected to a local network can remotely access the WebGUI using the IP
address of the host device.
To obtain your IP address
1. Open a command prompt window on the host computer.
2. Type ipconfig
3. Look for the section that contains your network adapter information
4. Take Note the IP address

Note: Make sure Restrict to localhost access is disabled in WebGUI Setting (Refer to
The HighPoint WebGUI, Setting tab).
You can then remotely access the WebGUI using any other computer that is in your
local network by opening any web browser and typing http://{IP address of host
computer}:7402 (default port is 7402)
