IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS
When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should
always be followed, including the following:-
1. Read all instructions.
2. Do not touch hot surfaces. Use handles or knobs.
3. To protect against risk of electrical shock, do not immerse
cord plugs or cooking unit in water or other liquid.
4. Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used by
or near children.
5. Unplug from outlet when not in use and before cleaning.
Allow to cool before putting on or taking off parts and before
cleaning the appliance.
6. Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug or
after the appliance malfunctions, or it dropped or damaged in
any manner.
7. The use of accessory attachments not recommended or sold
by the appliance manufacturer may cause hazards.
8. Do not use outdoors.
9. Do not let cord hand over edge of table or counter, or touch
hot surfaces
10. Do not places on or near a hot gas or electric burner, or in a
heated oven.
11. Extreme caution must be used we moving an appliance
containing hot oil or other hot liquids.
12. To disconnect, remove plug from wall outlet.
13. Do not use appliance for other than intended use.

HOW TO MAKE TOASTED SANDWICHES AND SNACKS
1. When using for the first time, wipe the surface of the plates
with a damp cloth and dry. Season the plates with butter,
margarine or cooking fat.
2. Plug into the electrical outlet. The red power light and the
green ready light will come on.
3. Close the Sandwich Maker and prepare sandwich while the
unit is heating.
4. When the Sandwich Maker is ready the green light will go off.
5. Fully open the Sandwich Maker. Place a slice of bread in the
bottom half with the buttered side against the plate.
6. Fill the sandwich by pressing the bottom half into the plate.
SINCE THE SANDWICH MAKER HAS A NON-STICK SURFACE
THE USE OF BUTTER OR OILS IS OPTIONAL
7. Lay the top slice with the buttered side up and carefully close
the two parts of the toaster together. Do not force shut.
Steam will be ejected from between the plate while doing this
and care must be taken to ensure that fingers do not come
into contact with steam.
8. Lock the two halves with the wire clip while toasting is taking
place NOTE-During toasting the cook light will cycle on and off
while the thermostat keeps the toaster at the right
temperature.
9. Your sandwich will be toasted in 2 to 3 minutes or longer to
suit your taste. Open the toaster ad remove sandwich using
plastic or wooden spatula. Never use a metal knife as this
may damage the non-stick coating
10. Close the lid to preserve the heat until ready to toast the next
sandwiches.
11. Prepare additional sandwiches if desired while the others are
cooking.
12. Unplug when finished.
HINTS FOR BEST RESULTS
1. Always preheat before use. Plug cord into power outlet while
preparing the fillings.
2. For soft or liquid sandwich fillings use medium sliced bread,
light or dark.
3. Flavoured butters may also be used.
4. For added flavour use bacon dripping. Brush drippings on the
outside of the bread.
5. A teaspoon of sugar sprinkled on the outside makes toasted
sandwiches crispier (especially with fruit fillings.
CLEANING
Before cleaning, unplug and wait for the unit to cool.
Wipe the inside and the edges of the plate with paper tower or a
soft cloth.
Wipe the outside with only a slightly moistened cloth ensuring
that no moisture, oil or grease enter the cooling slots.
Do not clean the inside or outside with any abrasive scouring
pad or steel wood as this will damage the finish.
DO NOT IMMERSE IN WATER OR ANY LIQUID.
PROTECTIVE COATING BURNOFF
WILL CAUSE SMOKING ON INITIAL USE.
THIS IS NOT HALMFUL
A. A short power supply cord (or detachable power supply cord)
is provided to reduce the risk resulting from becoming
entangled in or tripping over a longer cord.
B. Longer detachable power supply cords or extension cords are
available and may be used if care is executed in their use.
C. If longer detachable power supply cords or extension cords
are to be used: (1) the market electrical rating of the cord set
or extension cord should be at least as great as the electrical
rating of the appliance; (2) if the appliance is of the grounded
type the extension should be a grounding-type 3-wire cord;
and (3) a long cord should be arranged so it will not drape
over the counter top or table top where it can be pulled down
by children or tipped over unintentionally.
RECIPES
SNACKS
TOMATO AND BACON SNACKS
2 Strips bacon
1 Tomato chopped
1 Teaspoon chopped parsley (optional)
2 Slices bread
Fry bacon in a frypan until cooked. Remove and chop bacon.
Combine bacon, tomato and parsley.
Dip a slice of bread in bacon dripping and place dripping side
down. Form a hollow and add filling. Top with a slice of bread
which has been dipped in bacon dripping. Lower lid and toast
for 2 minutes.
BANANA SNACKS (makes 2)
4 Slices bread
1-2 Teaspoons sugar
1 Banana, peeled
Butter outsides of bread and place two slices buttered side down.
Slice banana and place half of the banana onto each slice of
bread, sprinkle with sugar. Top with remaining slices of bread and
toast for 1½-2 minutes.
SARDINE AND EGG (makes 6)
4 Eggs – hard boiled
1 Small can of sardines – drained
2 Tablespoons mayonnaise
1 Tablespoon parsley
1 Dessertspoon lemon juice
Salt and Pepper
Mix all ingredients together. Use 2-3 tablespoons per sandwich.
ASPARAGUS DELIGHT (makes 1)
2 Slices ham – chopped
2 Asparagus spears – chopped
Combine all ingredients and salt and pepper to toast.
HAM AND PINEAPPLE DELIGHT (makes 1)
1-2 Slices ham – chopped
2 Tablespoons diced pineapple
1 Slice cheese
Combine all ingredients and use as required.
SCRAMBLED EGG (makes 1)
1 Egg
1 Tablespoon milk
1 Teaspoon chopped parsley or chives
1 Teaspoon butter or margarine
Dash Worcestershire sauce
Salt and pepper
Combine egg, milk, parsley, salt and pepper. Melt butter in a
saucepan and add mixture. Stir until egg is just set. Place slice of
bread buttered side down onto sandwich toaster. Form a hollow
and add egg mixture. Top with a slice of bread (buttered side up),
lower the lid and toast for 2 minutes.
HEALTH SNACK (makes 1)
½ Cup nutmeat
1 Tablespoon grated onion
1 Tablespoon chopped celery
Lightly fry onion and celery and add nutmeat, tomato puree, salt
and pepper to taste. Place between bread (buttered sides out)
and toast for several minutes.
CORN AND BACON SNACKS (makes 1)
1 Rasher bacon
Salt and pepper
1 Tablespoon creamed corn
1 Tablespoon grated parmesan cheese (optional)
Fry bacon in a frypan until cooked. Remove rind and chop bacon
finely. Combine bacon, corn, cheese, salt and pepper.
Dip a slice of bread in bacon drippings and place dripping side
down onto the sandwich toaster. Form a hollow and add filling.
Top with a slice of bread which has been dipped in bacon dripping.
Lower lid and toast for 2 minutes.
MAIN MEALS
CHICKEN PATTIES (makes 4 patties)
½ Cup mashed potato
1 Cup cooked minced or chopped chicken
1 Tablespoon lemon juice
½ Cup grated cheese
1 Teaspoon finely grated onion
Salt and Pepper
Aerosol non-stick cooking spray
Lemon wedges and parsley for garnish
Basil and apple and cheese, tomato and chives, ham, tuna or
salmon, may be substituted for chicken.
Pre-heat sandwich toaster. Combine all ingredients except non-
stick spray. Spray each scallop with the non-stick spray.
Distribute the potato mixture evenly into the four scallop moulds.
Lower lid and cook for 5-7 minutes. Garnish with lemon wedges
and parsley. Serve with salad.
IRISH POTATO CAKES (makes 4 patties)
Cups firmly packed mashed potatoes
1 Egg yolk
1 Teaspoon butter
1 Tablespoon parsley or grated onion or chives
Salt and pepper
Aerosol non-stick cooking spray
Pre-heat sandwich toaster. Combine all ingredients except non-
stick spray. Spray each scallop with the non-stick spray.
Distribute the potato mixture evenly into the four scallop moulds.
Lower the lid and cook for 5-7 minutes. Serve with grilled steak
and a French salad.
You may add any of the following:
½ cup grated cheese, 2 rashers of bacon – cooked and chopped,
mashed left-over pumpkin etc.
INDIAN CHICKEN
1 Cup minced chicken
4 Tablespoons of tomato or chilli relish
1 Teaspoon grated onion
1 Teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1 Teaspoon curry powder
1 Dessertspoon butter
Melt butter in pan and stir in all ingredients. Cook 2-3 minutes on
medium heat. Fill 2-3 tablespoons between bread and toast for 2
mintures.
SPECIAL FILLING
BEEF STROGANOFF
(makes approximately 750ml, sufficient for
12 Toasted Sandwiches)
2 Tablespoons oil
1 Teaspoon salt
1 Onion, finely chopped
500g Topside steak, cut into 2-5cm strips
125g Button mushrooms
½ Cup red wine
¾ Cup of water
1 Tablespoon tomato paste
Freshly ground black pepper
2 Tablespoons cornflour
2 Tablespoons Water
½ Cup sour cream
Heat oil and fry onion for one minute. Add steak and continue to
fry until meat changes colour. Add mushrooms, wine, water,
tomato paste, salt and pepper. Bring to boil, cover and simmer for
30 minutes, or until meat is tender. Blend cornflour with water, stir
into beef mixture and bring to the boil while stirring. Adjust
seasoning if necessary. Stir in sour cream.
JIFFY CHICKEN LIVER STROGANOFF
(makes approximately 325ml, sufficient for
5-6 Toasted Sandwiches)
3 Shallots, chopped
2 Tablespoons butter
1 Cup thinly sliced fresh mushrooms
1 Tablespoon Sherry
½ Teaspoon dried mixed herbs
Salt
¼ Cup milk
Freshly ground black pepper
2 Tablespoons corn flour
1 Tablespoons sour cream
250g Chicken livers
Rinse chicken livers, dry and trim into near pieces.
Melt butter in a saucepan and fry shallots. Chicken livers and
mushrooms until livers change colour. Add cherry, milk, mixed herbs,
salt, pepper. Bring mixture to the boil. Cover and reduce to simmer for 5
minutes. Blend cornflour and water. Stir into mixture. Cook for 1
minute. Stir in sour cream.
DESSERTS
APRICOT DELIGHT (serves 4)
2 Tablespoons sour cream
½ Cup chopped canned apricots
OR
½ Peaches or plums
4 Teaspoons brown sugar
½ Teaspoon cinnamon
Icecream or cream
4 Slices white bread
Combine sour cream apricots, sugar and cinnamon. Place a slice
of bread (buttered side down) onto the sandwich toaster. Form a
hollow and add filling. Top with a slice of bread (buttered side up).
Lower lid and toast for 2 minutes. Serve immediately with
icecream or cream.
PRUNE TURNOVER
1 Cup dried prunes seeded
3 Tablespoons orange juice
1 Dessertspoon flat cornflour
2 Dessertspoons sugar
½ Cup chopped nuts
Pinch salt
Mix flour with a little of the orange juice and stir into the other
ingredients, over medium heat. Continue stirring until thickened,
cool before using.
DATES TURNOVER (makes 6-8)
2 Cups dates
¼ Cup sugar
¼ Cup boiling water
1 Tablespoon lemon juice
1 Tablespoon butter
Pinch salt
Mix cornflour with a little water, stir into chopped fruit, and cook
with other ingredients until thick, stirring constantly. Cool before
using. Figs or any other dried fruit may be used.
APPLE TURNOVERS (makes 1)
2 Tablespoons stewed apple, OR
2 Tablespoons canned pie-apple
1 Teaspoon castor sugar
½ Teaspoon cinnamon
Optional: 1 Tablespoon sultanas, raisins, raisin bread.
Place a slice of bread (buttered side down) onto the sandwich
toaster. Form a hollow and add apple. Sprinkle with sugar and
cinnamon. Top with a slice of bread (buttered side up). Lower lid
and toast for 1 minute. Serve immediately.
