You’re just a few easy steps from using the new TiVo Experience with
Voice Remote.
Upgrade to TiVo Experience 4.
Using your old remote, press
the TiVo button. If you see a
screen titled “TiVo Central,”
just follow the steps below
to upgrade to TiVo
Experience 4. This upgrade
may take up to 15 minutes.
(Don’t see that screen?
That means you’re already upgraded and can skip to Step
.)
Please note: your new voice remote will not work until you
upgrade to TiVo Experience 4.
• Choose Apps > Get New Experience.
• Follow the on-screen instructions.
• Restart your TiVo receiver. Go to Settings & Messages >
Help > Restart Box.
If your package included a USB connector.
Insert the USB extension cable (with the USB connector
attached) into one of your TiVo receiver’s USB ports. For
best results, place the connector (at the end of the cable)
near, beside or on top of the TiVo receiver.
No USB connector in your package?
You’re all set. You can skip to

Pair your new remote. Remove the back cover of the remote and
insert two fresh AA batteries.
• The remote will attempt to automatically
“pair” with your TiVo receiver. If the
activity light at the top of the remote
ashes yellow with each button-press,
pairing is successful.
• If, instead, the activity light ashes red
with each button press, you’ll need to
manually pair the remote to the TiVo
receiver. From the Home screen, choose
the menu icon (
), then choose
Settings > Remote, CableCARD & Devices
(Remote & Devices on Mini) > Remote
Control Setup > Remote Control Pairing
and follow the on-screen instructions.
Program the buttons on your remote. The
power, volume, mute, and input buttons can
be programmed to control your TV and A/V
receiver (or sound bar).
• From the Home screen, choose the menu icon ( ), then
choose Settings > Remote, CableCARD & Devices (Remote &
Devices on Mini) > Remote Control Setup and follow the on-
screen instructions.
