WARNING
ELECTRIC SHOCK can kill;
SIGNIFICANT DC VOLTAGE exists after
removal of input power.
• Do not touch live electrical parts.
• Turn Off welding power source, wait 60 seconds,
measure voltage on input capacitors according to
Technical Manual, and be sure voltage is near zero
before making or changing meter lead connections
and before touching any parts.
STATIC ELECTRICITY can damage parts
on circuit boards.
• Put on grounded wrist strap BEFORE handling
boards or parts.
• Use proper static-proof bags.
Have only qualified persons familiar with and following
standard safety practices perform troubleshooting
procedures.

1 IGBT/MOSFET Tester
Before use, install 9 volt batteries.
To check battery, connect Red and
Black leads together; test light
(LED) = On; battery okay.

1-2. IGBT Power Module Testing Procedure
Step 1. Check IGBT module for
cracks in side of case or a separa-
tion of case from its base plate.
Replace any damaged part.
Step 2. Mark and disconnect
leads from C1, C2/E1, and E2
terminals.
Step 3. Disconnect gate lead
plug from circuit board.
Step 4. Hook up ALL tester
leads to perform Test 1.
LED On = Shorted; replace part
Step 5. Press button.
LED Off = Fails test; replace part
LED On = Passes test
Step 6. Repeat Steps 4 and 5 for
Test 2.
