sup p o rts 6 4 b it versio n s o f W indow s and p rovides D C O FFSET C O RR EC TIO N (w h ich in su res tha t th e
recordin g level m eters fo u n d in various ripp in g softw are read accurate ly). The dow n lo ad is a
com pressed p ackage w hich req u ires W in R A R o r W inZ ip to extract; once place d in the d irectory o f
yo u r choice, sim ply click o n setup .exe. W e su gg est d o w nlo ading an d in stallin g the O EM d river b e fo r e
connecting the TC -AD U SB to the U SB port on yo u r co m pu ter (the in stall process w ill provid e a
prom pt w h en ready); if do n e in this o rde r, it usually is not n e ce ssary to reboot. Th e d o w nload lin k is
on the n e xt pa ge.
Connect your analo g audio so u rce to the TC-A D U SB in p u t, u sin g either the d u al R CA ja cks o n the end
or the 1/8 " stereo m injack o n the side. T h e rem aining u n u se d in p u t can b e used a s a m ean s to pass
the an a lo g au d io on to your stereo rece ive r or am plifier, allo w ing the TC -AD U SB to be left in p lace
even w h e n n o t being u se d to fe e d audio to yo u r com puter. Sim ply plug the U SB plug in to yo u r
com puter w hen yo u w ant to d igitize m usic o r listen thru yo u r com puter. The U SB ca b le can be
len gthened using e xten sio n s u p to five m eters (about sixteen feet) w ith o u t an y affect on sou n d
quality; this is far p referable to le n gthen in g the a n alo g cables.
Th e first tim e you co n n e ct th e U SB cable, your op e rating system w ill in stall the d river
(e ithe r the ge n eric M icro so ft, Linux o r A p p le o n e , o r th e O EM d river if p resent). O nce this
process is fin ish ed, C H E C K Y O U R O TH ER PRO G R A M S that use au d io devices (Skyp e , U tub e
playb a ck, e tc) an d m ake su re they fun ction norm ally. If you've lo st audio fro m a laptop m ic,
or your com pu ter spea ke rs no longe r fu n ction, d o n 't pan ic. Sim ply go to C o n tro l
Pan el>So u n d > M a n a g e D ev ices (o r yo u r O S version's eq u ivale n t; the se in stru ction s m atch
W indow s 7 ); click the P la yback tab . Th e device w ith the green check m ark is the one yo u r
O S u ses as the default PB device; if the checked d evice is N O T the o ne you n o rm ally liste n
thru, h igh lig h t your p refe ren ce and the n p ress the S et D efau lt button. Th e T C -AD U SB
driver installs a single P B d e vice (sh o w n belo w [circled] as 2- U SB M u ltim e d ia A u d io
D e vice ; SP E A K E R S) w h ich is n o t active, so choosing o r leavin g it set as the d e fault w ill result
in n o s o u n d . N ow click the R e co rding tab and ch eck that the default d e vice is the o n e yo u
record fro m o r listen to w hen using your O S utilities (for in stance W ind o w s So u n d
Recorder) tha t requ ire an au d io input. Sin ce virtually all p rogram s that re q u ire a audio
input o verride the O S d efault w h ile a ctive (fo r insta n ce Skyp e, w h ich alw ays ch o o se s a
lap top s' built-in m ic for its d e fault audio in p u t sou rce), h o w th e O S d e fault is set m atters
less than the P B defau lt settin g. T h e TC-A D U SB in stalls three reco rdin g d e vice s; 2 - U SB
M ultim ed ia A u d io D e vice L IN E , SP D IF and M IC R O P H O N E (circled). O n ly LIN E (bo xe d in b lu e )
is active; this is the reco rdin g d evice you w ill b e ch o o sin g later in your a u d io e d iting
softw are. Se le ct LIN E a s the O S d efault recordin g device o n ly if yo u intend to routinely
liste n "live " to w h a teve r sou rce yo u h a ve co n n e cted thru the T C -AD U SB (e.g. you w ill b e
using yo ur co m pu ter an d its spe akers as yo u r stereo).
