WARNING
DO NOT attempt any adjustments, maintenance, repairs, or service with engine running. Stop engine. Stop blade. Remove key
from ignition switch. Remove spark plug wire(s) and secure wire(s) away from spark plug(s). Engine, muffler and surrounding
areas are extremely hot. Avoid serious burns, allow components to cool down before installing kit. Wear heavy leather gloves
when handling or working around cutting blades. Blades are extremely sharp and can cause severe injury.
INTRODUCTION: This kit is to be used on Gear and Hydro Drive Commercial Walk Behind Mowers to convert the side discharge into a
mulching mower. This kit will convert the 32”, 36”, 48” and 52” decks with a mulching cover and a mulching blade. Proceed as follows:
STEP 1: Use a hydraulic floor jack or hoist to raise deck
high enough to gain access to the underside of deck.
Secure deck with safety blocks.
IMPORTANT! ALL 61” DECKS: For proper blade
spacing, one spacer must be removed above blade
and placed on top of spindle pulley.
STEP 2: Remove existing mower blades. Install new
mulching blades in same sequence as existing blades
were removed. Torque blades to 70 to 80 ft. lbs. See
Figure 1.

STEP 3: Install baffle by placing baffle “hook” over
curved portion of deck chute support lip. Line up baffle
slot with hole in chute support lip, loosely install
hardware as shown in Figure 2. Move baffle as far
forward as possible and tighten hardware.
WARNING
DO NOT operate machine without discharge
deflector or mulching cover installed.
If there is no hole in the chute support, drill one as
follows:
A. Insert baffle and slide forward as far as possible.
B. Press mounting plate tightly against chute
support.
C. Mark hole position on chute support.
D. Drill 1/4” pilot hole.
E. Drill a 17/32” diameter hole by gradually
increasing drill sizes. Debur finished hole.
