These instructions cover the replacement of the Absolute or TPC damper with the
Absolute+ damper.
1. Turn adjuster knob all the way counterclockwise. Remove adjuster knob. (Fig.1)
A. Loosen adjuster knob screw with a 2mm hex wrench.
B. Remove adjuster knob, (2) detent balls and (2) detent springs.
2. Use a ratchet with a 24mm socket to loosen the damper for forks with Absolute (Fig. 2).
For TPC you will need a 20mm socket.
3. Remove the damper from the fork.
4. Set oil to proper height. Oil heights can be found in our service guides page at
www.manitoumtb.com/support/ The oil height refers to the amount of air space from
the top of the oil to the top of the crown. Recommended fork oil is Maxima® 5w.
5. Turn adjuster hex on damper all the way counter-clockwise and install the Absolute+
damper into fork.
6. Tighten the damper using a ratchet with a 24mm socket. Use a torque wrench to torque
to 5,1-6,2 N m [45-55 in lb].
7. Install the detent springs and detent balls into the top cap. The orientation should be at
180° from each other. A small amount of grease may be used to hold the detent balls in
place. (Fig. 3)
8. Install the adjuster knob using a 2mm hex wrench. (Fig. 4)
