CONNECTION
Plug the mains cable into a mains socket (230V~/50Hz).
The display appears and the charger performs a brief self-test in which the 4 battery slots are
checked for the presence of rechargeable batteries and the previous charge program continued, e.g.
after a power failure).
The charger is now ready for operation.
If no rechargeable battery is inserted, the display shows:
S1: - - - S3: - - -
S2: - - - S4: - - -
CHARGE/DISCHARGE PROGRAMS
The charger has 5 different functions:
„CHARGE“ (= charging)
The battery is charged and the charge process terminated afterwards.
„DIS-CH“ (= discharge)
The rechargeable battery is discharged. This function can be used to e.g put an only half-charged
battery into a defined state (required with NiCd batteries to prevent the memory effect).
„CHECK“ (= discharging, charging)
The battery is discharged and then charged. This function is recommended for charging NiCd
rechargeable batteries (memory effect).
„CYCLE“ (= charge, discharge, charge)
With the subsequent charge/discharge/charge process, the rechargeable battery can be refreshed if
it was e.g. not used for some time.
„ALIVE“ (= charge, discharge, charge, discharge, charge)
The function „ALIVE“ not only serves to refresh older batteries but is also helpful to activate new
rechargeable batteries that were stored over a longer period of time.
OPERATION
Insert a 9V rechargeable block battery into any of the charging slots. Observe the correct polarity.
However, with the corresponding design of the connections in the charger and on the rechargeable
battery, you can only insert the rechargeable battery in the right orientation.
The charger detects the battery and automatically offers the function „CHARGE“:
ADJUST PROGRAM
SLOT1: CHARGE *
The asterisk (*) behind „CHARGE“ blinks.
Now you have 5 seconds to select one the functions with the operating key (see above in the
chapter „CHARGE/DISCHARGE PROGRAMS“).
If no button is pressed for 5 seconds, the function currently visible on the display (e.g. "CHARGE") is
started.
The blinking asterisk shows that a charge/discharge program is currently active in the respective
battery slot.
S1: CHA* S3: - - -
S2: - - - S4: - - -
„CHA“ means „CHARGE“, „DIS“ = „DIS-CH“, „CHK“ = „CHECK“, „CYC“ = „CYCLE“ and „ALV“ =
„ALIVE“, see above.
After selecting the charge/discharge program for the first battery and the start of the charge/
discharge program, you can insert the next battery. Proceed as described above.
¼
If several rechargeable batteries are inserted in short sequence, the charger shows the
selection of the charge/discharge programs for the respective battery slots in sequence as well
(in the sequence in which the batteries are detected in the respective charging slots). Also
proceed as described above.
